At the time of the Third Fimbulvetr War the Jötnar, a once dominant magician clan, were facing immediate destruction. Out of despair and with the hope to escape their fate, they performed a forbidden ritual to bind Jormungandr into their service and turn the tides of the war. Obviously, things went differently, and the divine beast turned against its summoners and the world itself. With no one capable of killing it, the beast had gone on a rampage that threatened to cause humanity to go extinct. Indeed, killing it was out of the question, but with the sacrifice of many the beast could be sealed away, locked away in an alternate space for all eternity, or so they hoped.
As time passed the seal became weaker, alas, it had to be renewed. A second ritual was thus needed and held, and would then repeat again once every 30 years.
Ragnarok
Each life is worth the same. With that policy in mind, only those who are capable of using Yggdrasil Seeds are pit against each other in a battle of life and death, and only one may be victorious. A battle of power and wits, a battle serving as a substitute for all The Fimbulvetr Wars that might have come, but ultimately, a battle to determine the sacrifices that renew the seal in place which keeps The World Eater at bay. That is Ragnarok.
So, what is this? This is an RP I had(and still have) in planning for a while. Inspired by the Fate/ series as well as Fortissimo (hence the name) but the final push gave this this video. So yeah, it is a battle royale between magicians for a common goal.
Now I can hear you ask "But Skys, why would people kill each other fighting to renew some seal? And why would the Einherjar agree on sacrificing themselves in the first place? Do you even think?" Yeah, I think, so, the last Int. Check I made had a lot of information and text in it and I had a negative feedback to that, so this time around, I do it different. That doesn't mean I didn't think about my RP at all, when I plan an RP I put a lot of time and effort in it to make sure it becomes something I, and hopefully you, will like. This RP is no different, and while everything has been written down in messy notes here and there the RP is pretty much in a ready state, I just have to refine the information and find suitable names for stuff (at which I suck at, for example there are 4 kind of energy which I called Mana, Wana, Rana and Vana at first. By now I call them Mana, Ǫnd, Vim and *still has to be decided*.)
However, another positive thing is that if I take a bit more time(I think I will be able to start it up next weekend) the people who initially go "Oh Shiny!" and then lose interest are sorted out. As I said it is inspired by Fate/ and Fortissimo, not a clone, so I put around 2 weeks time into thinking about plot(Oh look a spoiler!), magics and whatever stuff also belongs to it into.
So for now I will simply see who might be interested by this sneak peek, and don't shy away to ask questions, I will gladly answer them.
Q: Why would people kill each other fighting to renew some seal?
A: Because you have to kill people to get Ǫnd, which in turn is needed for the magic to renew the seal. Oh! And fighting for your survival might also change the state of your Body, Mind or Soul into a more favourable position, meaning more Mana, which translates into more Qnd!
Q: Why would the Einherjar agree on sacrficing themselves in the first place?
A: Well, the winner gets a lot of fame, a wish fullfilled(not on such a grand scale like Fate/ though...) and Ragnarok is also used as a substitue for the magicians wars, you see, those clan magicians are prideful as fuck.
Q: Do you even think?
A: Sometimes... I hope.
Q: Why aren't you answering my question?!
A: Because I sleep, work, try to survive the burning sunlight or all at once!
Q: What are Yggdrasil Seeds?
Q: And how do they work?
A: Well, what you will get depends on how you use the seed as well the personality of your character and obviously what you would like yourself. What I mean with "how you use the seed"? Simple, Knight Arms can be used by simply wearing it ON your body. You get a Fae by planting the seed and perform a ritual. And for *still has to get a name for that* you simply eat the seed. Also once activated it is attuned to you until you die, meaning no one else can use it and you yourself can't decide to change the form(like from Knight Arms to a Fae).
Q: Where does the story take place?
A: On a bizarre and strange planet called Earth, modern times. On an fictional island which is influenced by japanese culture.
Q: How does the magic-system work?
Q: Since it's "Fate"-like, does that mean we must have Servants/Guardians and Masters? Or are there other ways to fight in Ragnarok?
A: I force no one, if you would like to you can have your very own Fae though! I also leave it up to you if you want to play Einherjar and Fae or split that up. Fae are very very loyal to their Einherjar BUT if the story plays out in that direction(as I am the kind of GM who adapts the Story depending on my players choices) the Fae could actually turn against their Einherjar. I know this is a spoiler but I think I should mention it because some people might not like that.
Q: How many players are you looking for to participate?
A: Well, I had no upper limit but as it is going right now...I do plan to fill up some plot-important roles with characters of my creation, I want at least 13 people, NPC or not.
