Name: Warren Novack
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Warren is a man who is willing to get his hands dirty. He knows the value of hard work and he knows it well, preferring to work with his hands rather than doing what he considers as boring desk work. In this way, schooling has never quite agreed with him, and while he is not stupid by any stretch of the imagination, he is perhaps not quite as well educated as your average person maybe. He is also, in a way, a traditionalist, preferring to keep with what he knows best and taking comfort in familiarity, while approaching the new and unknown with caution and mistrust.
History: The colony of Hyperion sits at the edge of UEG space. Initial efforts to colonize were thought to have failed after contact with the colony ships were lost, and efforts to recolonize or to search for survivors were cut short as tensions between the UEG and Casval began to rise. In truth, the colony ships did survive, but an error in calculations caused the ships to jump in a little too close to the planet's gravity well, and they were promptly pulled in and crashed onto the surface. There were many losses, but the survivors began to scrape together a life. While a large number of construction tools and supplies had been destroyed in the crash, a surprisingly large number of Mechanical Frames had survived relatively intact. Without contact from outside the planet, and lacking any real need for a military at the moment, the Mechanical Frames were put to use as industrial vehicles, used in mining, constructions, and the like. The colony was well on its way to becoming self-sufficient. Eventually, the colony was able to make contact with the UEG proper once more, and was once again a part of the fold, and with the war going on, the large number of experienced Mechanical Frame pilots the colony was able to supply was a massive boon.
Warren's family was on the poorer side of things. While initially everyone worked for the good of the whole, once society began reestablishing itself, the dice simply didn't fall in his favor. A mix of necessity and lack of interest meant that Warren did not receive the best education. As a teenager, he worked to help support his family, being allowed to pilot a Mechanical Frame simply due to the large availability of them at the time and lack of manpower, starting by working in construction before moving onto starship construction. Pilots were highly respected, as, at the time, they were the real only means of industrialization and setting up proper cities and infrastructure. As Hyperion grew more and more self-sufficient, however, regular industrial tools and vehicles began to be produced, vehicles which relied on less training than Mechanical Frames required, and with the contact made once again with the UEG, proper trade could begin and the Mechanical Frames were needed even less. Deciding that his place at home would soon no longer be needed, and education being something he lacked, Warren decided to join the UEG military as they would train him and give him a number of benefits as well, and his prior experience with Mechanical Frames made him a shoe in to join one of their academies.
Mechanical Frame:
Appearance: Warren uses a base model of the UEG Mechanical Frame that looks extremely worn and old. While Hyperion lacked the resources to completely refit the Mechanical Frames, modifications were still slapped on in order for them to fulfill their role as industrial workhorses.
Weaponry:
-Wrist Mounted Industrial Saw: A large circular saw, and a retractable casing that protects the saw when not in use mounted on the right forearm. The covering folds back, and the blade extends out over the MF's hand when in use. It's been designed to cut through metal, though properly cutting through, say, a MF limb, takes time, it is still capable of brutal damage. In its retracted state, the covering can be used as an impromptu buckler
-Wrist Mounted Arc Welder: A blocky machine covered with wires and dials mounted on the Mechanical Frame's left forearm, it is capable of extending two prongs that act as projectors for arcs of electricity strong enough to weld metal. This industrial tool is used just as well when melting armor or slagging joints. The arc welder has a relatively short range, but it can be a nasty surprise.
-Shoulder Mounted Rivet Gun: A small but long railgun mounted on the Mechanical Frame's right shoulder. As its name implies, it was designed to fire rivets and bolts at speeds to punch into starship hulls. It is laser assisted, and fires at a relatively fast speed, though it lacks range. After a few modifications, though, and having removed a few of the safeties, the railgun is now capable of building up an even stronger charge, firing the rivets at higher velocities and at further range, though this heavily decreases the firing rate.
-Jury-rigged Booster Pack: Originally designed for Mechanical Frame drag races back on Hyperion when workers needed to work out their stress with absurdly high speeds, the booster pack is capable of increasing the Mechanical Frame's land speeds with the use thrusters, and when given a suitably high platform or ramp to leap off of, is capable of limited gliding.
-Default Equipment: Other than the modifications listed, Warren's Mechanical Frame is also equipped with basic equipment available to most MFs. This includes a shield strapped to its left arm, over the arc welder, a beam rifle, and a superheated tomahawk strapped to its right thigh.
