Gabriel "Angel" Avlon

Three days. It had been three days.

"Ohhhhh my god," whined Angel, his small hands rising to nimbly tie up his mess of blonde hair, "This is so dumb." And to make things worse, his partner hadn't showed up, yet again. Not that he minded, of course. What he really minded was missing out on the field trip. That and, you know, being demoted in what seemed like seconds after making it into the top Rank. "Ugh," whined Angel, kicking at pebbles as he continued walking the designated route around the school, his violin case rattling on his back. This was dumb. So dumb. 'Since you guys seem so exciteable, how about watching over the school?' the head of the Disciplinary Committee had said. "Watch over the school," mocked Angel childishly as he kicked at more pebbles, "Dumb dumb dumb."

A huge gust of wind suddenly blew, as though sweeping clouds that turned the sky into a darker shade. "Aw man," started Angel, his thin arms falling from their raised block position, wiping at stray leaves on his person, "Don't tell me it's also gonna rain." His blue eyes squinted at the sky again, the passing clouds indeed dark and showing no sign of moving anytime soon. With an annoyed sigh, Angel looked back at the all too familiar emptyness that was his designed watch, turning at his heel when he reached the giant tree and starting the other way. "So dumb."
Ixion Farbrigth

"Woah, so we got the roof this time," mused the blue haired heir, looking down at the sight. Yesterday he and his partner had gotten the forest, along with two other pairs, and the day after that they'd gotten the second floor balconies. Of course, he'd wanted to stakeout by the gates because he'd always liked how the gates looked, but the view up top wasn't too bad either. "Man, if there was a demon that appeared," started Ixion as he walked freely around the rooftop, casually looking down below now and again, "I don't think it's safe to just jump down. And if they appeared up here, how long do you think it'd take other students to run up here? Probably a whi- whoa!"

Ixion had accidentally leaned down a bit too far, almost pulling himself overboard, but swiftly pulled himself right up. His blue hair fluttered over his face, the clip he typically used to keep his bangs out of his face falling and landing on some potted plant down under. "Aw man," whined the teen, pouting as he fished for another clip in his pocket with his normal hand. Putting on a clip with his armoured hand was always awkward, he noted as he fumbled with his bangs, and he reckoned he would never get used to it.

In the end, his clip ended up loose and probably would fall out if he walked too fast or breathed too hard, but Ixion decided to cope with it for the sake of coping with things. "Woah!" he gasped once more at the sudden gust of wind, taking care to cover his eyes to keep debri out of them. Leaves scattered on the rooftop, Ixion's hairclip having disappeared behind him, landing somewhere on the school. "Woah," he blinked, wondering if his eyes were blurring or if it really was that dark all of a sudden, "Rain. Awe man, and we're on the roof, too."

Oh man, oh man. Black gunk seeped out of the grounds of a busy street, wrapping around an unsuspecting civilian. Seeping into cloth and skin, the man twitched mid-step. "Man, oh man," he said, his voice changing from multiple echoing ones to the human's original voice, his eyes blinking away the appearance of three golden pupils back to normal brown ones, "It's been too long."

Maxamillion "Hulk" Lovecannon

Max sat on the ledge of the balcony, one knee hugged up close to his chest and another dangling off into air. He had both hands resting on the top knee and his eyes were set to looking at the vast nothingness ahead. He did't mind this place, fresh air was something he could deal with, it could keep him calm and it didn't but the hell out of him. That was until air became wind, blowing leaves and dust over his eyes. He winced a bit and closed them to let it pass, a sort of sigh and grunt hybrid leaving his lips after the wind had passed. His red hair was even more of a mess than usual, the air had made him cold, but he shrugged that off easily enough. He wondered where his little friend was off to. The one he had been paired with. Another run up and smash your face in kinda guy Max didn't understand why they had been tied together. Wouldn't more of a varied selection make sense? He closed his eyes and let his head fall back, now resting against the cold stone of the building. Not that it really matters...He wasn't the best strategist, so whatever, maybe he was an idiot and their pairing was the best thing ever. He cracked his neck, tilting it each side to allow the "pop" to echo into nothing. He began again searching for his partner. He was probably actually moving about and keeping watch. He seemed like the type to listen to rules, though Max couldn't say for sure, neither member of the party were all too vocal thus far. A blip of water landed on his forehead, a growl rose from deep in his throat. "Magical..." he muttered looking up to the darkening skies. "No umbrella" he slipped off the balcony, retreating with some annoyance into the building. "Well there goes the entire point..." Even when he chose his prison it wasn't all too bearable.

Sel'ar M. Eindz

Sel sat, as she always did nowadays, looking out into the rain. She had found a small umbrella, but it wouldn't cover her much, and not only that her chair might still rust. She looked up at the sky, twisting the umbrella in her hands back and forth, each hand turning an opposite direction. "Rain rain go away..." she began to repeat yet another time, it had only begun, and wasn't a terrible downpour, but it still shied Sel away. A familiar pang of guilt rose in her when she started to think a bit too much on her current situation. She hadn't shown up for the last three times she should have...Her partner, whoever that was, must have been quite annoyed with her by now...And rightly so, she didn't have much to offer really, but she was at least an extra set of eyes, and that must have counted for something...Maybe.Though to be fair, she couldn't really have gone to the last few locations...The roof, the balcony... A sigh escaped the girl, and she dared to open the thing. The umbrella came to a quick bloom, it had patterns of little yellow flowers on it. Sel regarded it with a soft smile, it was nice. "Well...here we go..." she murmured, pushing the handle of her left tire, causing her to hesitantly lurch forward. Her right hand did it's best to shield the rain, but really she needed to switch hands to properly move forward. She was already getting wet and she made little progress...Another sight and she gave up, closing the umbrella altogether. "Maybe my partner would like it..." she bean rolling at a slightly faster rate, finding her location soon enough. "Uhm..." she wasn't within ear shot, or at least, not for her voice she wasn't. "Excuse me?" She asked as she progressed a bit more, coming closer to her small partner.

Darius patrolled the hallway with quick, measured steps. His footsteps echoed around the empty halls; there were no threats here. There would be no threats here, in fact. Darius knew it. Everybody knew it. His vigilance was entirely unnecessary; on the off chance that something did attack, it would be at the gates or the walls, not here in the heart of the academy.

But this was a good place to be regardless. He heard the drops spattering on a window before he saw the rain outside. No doubt Darius' partner would have found that disagreeable, had they been stationed outside. Himself as well. Unlike some people, he had actually checked the weather forecast for the day and requested this patrol specifically.

But that was Darius. Intelligent. Practical. Reliable.

In a word, a nerd. In two words, a huge nerd.

His feline partner was... somewhere around here. Who really knew, with that girl. Halting a moment to take a quick survey of the hallway, his eyes fell on the window. Darius could see a lone student patrolling the courtyard. No umbrella. Tsk, tsk. That one would be miserable by the end of patrol. If he had to stay behind during the field trip, at least he didn't get stuck out there.

Now there was a sore subject. "Since you guys seem so exciteable, how about watching over the school?" But Darius wasn't excitable; he was precisely the opposite of excitable. Drab, really. Maybe even boring by some accounts. How he ended up getting roped into that whole fiasco would be a mystery for the ages. He was just glad to know it wouldn't go on his record. Too many black marks and he could lose one of his scholarships; how embarrassing that would be, to lose funding because of a cafeteria incident!

The cafeteria... was it almost time for a lunch break yet? ...His mind was drifting off. He'd only stopped for a moment to look out the window, but now he started up again. Darius patrolled the hallway with quick, measured steps.

'Don't you ever shut up?'

Ase stared blankly off the side of the roof, only half-listening to the constant musings of her blue-haired partner. Despite these assignments being rather dull and somewhat pointless, it was obvious that the small girl was taking everything very seriously. From the concentration in her eyes to the stiff silence from her mouth, every inch of Ase screamed determination. She scanned the earth below like a hawk, making sure not to get too close to the edge as a fall from this height would probably kill her. She glanced up slightly as Ixion began to ramble again, something about spotting a demon from up here, but it was quickly cut off when he slipped forward slightly, right over the roof. Ase instantly retracted from her side and turned to Ixion, reaching forward to grab his shirt in an attempt to save him from the fall, but the tall boy quickly stumbled back and saved himself. A soft, tired sigh escaped her lips and she quickly returned to her lookout spot before the boy could turn around.

Sounds of disappointment and hair-fixing slowly became white noise once again as Ase attempted to return to her concentrated state, but her mind had decided on wandering instead. She wondered, why would a school full of powerful teachers and staff need look out teams comprised of students? And what would be dumb enough to attack a school full of powerful teachers and staff (plus students)? The questions made her curious, but not enough so to wander away from work. Ase sighed and turned to examine her partner, taking note of his cute, if not dumb looks, skinny body, and colorful hair. She ha been paired with an idiot, why was that? She deserved someone who could at least match their strength with her brain, someone who could defend her easily as she went around her business healing and exorcising. This boy didn't seem to be someone like that.

"... Ah!"

The sudden gust of wind sent a cold shock through her body, and her white hair instantly curled behind her head in a flurry of swirls and whips. She shut her eyes, raising a hand slightly as to protect her face was any debris, and then her expression changed from content to terrified. The air was heavy with the scent of water suddenly, the smell of a storm. Once the wind vanished Ase opened her eyes and stared upwards at the sudden mass of dark clouds, panic rising in her throat. Ixion made a remark about the coming storm, and Ase slowly inched towards him, obviously trying to appear naturally despite feeling an uncontrollable urge to cling to the boy. Yet, despite the intense fear she currently felt, her mind couldn't help but wonder.

"I-It's strange, isn't it?" Her voice was soft and light yet filled with dread, eyes locked on the clouds over head as she slowly approached Ixion, "how can a storm this large appear so suddenly. It's strange, isn't it?" So strange. Suspiciously strange.

Jace couldn’t help but daydream slightly as he watched his hawk sail its way across the sky. He had always been amazed by her long and vibrant wings, and since he had been stuck with watch duty after doing his best to stop a fight, there wasn’t much else to do. Even worse, he was set out by the front gates, the most uninteresting part of the school. It’s a shame, he was really looking forward to having a chance to follow in the family path and make a start for employment. He sighed as he shook his head. It was at times like this that he detested the part of him that would jump into the fray without a second’s thought. He was snapped out of his daze as Aiah, his hawk, screeched before swooping down towards him and fluttered her wings. Jace instinctively lifted his arm up and watched as she took her perch. He reached out and scratched her chin as he listened to her calls. After knowing her for as long as he has, Jace has developed an ability to communicate to his faithful friend without missing a thing. He glanced over behind him as a cool gust of wind flowed past him.

“Great…” He muttered to himself as he glanced back to his bird and gave her a scratch on the head before sending her back up to patrol from the sky. “Hey” He said as he called out to his partner. He was a boy about his age, but slightly taller than Jace was. He had flowing golden hair and yellow eyes that were strangely animalistic. Jace could never quite put his finger on why, but he didn’t bother dwelling on it. “It’s going to rain pretty soon” He called out as he leaned against the wall of the gates and grasped at his shield. He had a habit of using it for protection from the elements. Despite its rather cumbersome and somewhat disturbing appearance, it made for an excellent umbrella. He wondered for a second about his flying companion, but he put his worries to rest. If she felt it was too dangerous to fly, she would come back down to seek shelter with Jace. He let out a sigh as he rested his eyes, wondering just how much longer they would be made to pointlessly watch over a secure school.

Blake had been practising protracting and retracting his claws during the patrol, determined to at least get a grasp of how to work with them during close-combat. Since he found out about them just the other day, it was difficult for him to adjust. After that, the following days were basically a series of events that lead others to think he had a suddenly contracted a serious case of diarrhea with all those trips to the bathroom when really the poor boy was just trying to cover up his claws.

...so two days later he had some spicy curry. This is significant, how? Well, on that same day, Blake's bowels had decided to let loose all hell on him. As a result of that long and stressful experience, he had learned that clenching his butt-cheeks really, really tight would retract his claws. Simple as that.

Once he got the hang of it, he began to use it for mundane things like cooking, paper cutting and scratching his back. However, in order to keep them sharp and dandy, Blake had to file them often, which sucked. Consequently, there have been times where he'd accidentally sort-of stabbed himself. Also- being partially dog kinda sucks, since they're pretty messy animals. When you inherit traits from such an animal the chances of you getting the short-end of the stick was damn high. Blake however, thanked his lucky stars that he turned out pretty decent.

Almost.

Sorta.

Shrug.

Whilst swiping away at the air, Blake let his thoughts wander.

"Since you guys seem so exciteable, how about watching over the school?" Blake scoffed.

How about fuck you? he sliced the air harder. Being a boy his age, it was natural for him to get so excited when field trips were announced. He even packed his bags 3 weeks beforehand... and then the grade-A-wanker-of-a-principle decided to put him and a couple other people on duty. It was sucky. Totally sucky.

Blake shook away the negative thoughts and looked up at the sky, surprised to see it already so dark. It's not even anywhere near evening... Soon enough, the air began to sit heavily on his shoulders and the humidity caused his hair to dampen a bit.

"Hey-" his partner called out to him, "It's going to rain pretty soon."

"Yeah, thanks." Blake didn't like water as much as the next person. It wasn't because of his ancestry though. It simply made him feel sticky and just... ew. Y'know? He sprinted across the outer fields near the gate, making his way to his partner- cautiously sneaking underneath the steel make-do umbrella so as to not alert Jace. Scanning the area around the gates, he noticed the darkened sky had made the atmosphere seem a lot more menacing than usual.

Blake watched the boy's hawk as it soared through the sky, careful not to make any noise as he sat next to Jace.

Outside? ...Not...quite a good place for her to be. Instead of being lurking around on the outside, she sat inside of the confines of the library. To her left, a young lady in a light blue and white dress laid the upper half of her torso over a table, boredom evident in her posture rather than her masked face as she used her hands to tip a clear marble side to side as a means of giving her something to bring her attention to over what her sister was doing. The one opposite her was the blonde, a book in her hand, arm resting over crossed legs as her lips moved to read the one in the center a book that'd caught her attention in a certain shape and form. Ah yes, Eika, the Tamer -- that and only that. Nothing extra, certainly nothing less, she rested in the center chair as Id and Ego accompanied her in their "docile" state, giving her little to nothing needed to focus on in order to keep them on the plane as she listened to the story being told.

"And so, with the ritual completed, the beginning of the Golden Age began..."

"This is booooriiiing...What are we even doing here anyways?!"

Ego complained in the slightest, only for Eika to speak up without turning her head to address her.

"...I cannot roam the school grounds without my partner, since I am optically challenged. The professors preferred I not risk being harmed, and thusly left the keys to the library in my care so that I could stay here when desired. You should try reading sometime."

This was how it was normally, now. Both sisters accompanied her, taking care to not drain her as they would any other by maintaining little to no fluctuation of power as they guided her around. It had been only a few hours now...She'd figured that her "disadvantage" would have been informed to the one that she would have to stay close to as the groups of them all had worked together. It was a shame to be demoted, yes, but...It was not something she worried about too terribly, at this point, despite Ego's claims of unfairness (which Id would correct with the truthful statements that Ego herself had been the cause of demotion on Eika's behalf by participating in an unsightly disagreement). All that could be done now was...to wait. To sit in this chair in the safety of her tamed family and relax in the silence that came with the field trip taking away just about everyone else that could cause a ruckus within the confines of this welcoming library.

"...What even was the guy's name?"

...Huh. ...Uhm...

"...I think it was...Hunter? Is that right, Id?"

"Yes, it was Hunter. He is also late. A gentleman that is poor in keeping a lady waiting is a gentleman that will have to work to earn the word's earnest meaning. Regardless, once he arrives, we may begin the rounds that were spoken about to ensure little stupidity has come about with the departure of the adults."

"Some gentlemen have prior obligations to other ladies, thank you very much."
The prim and proper voice of Voracia rang out through the library. The demon stood staring at the trio, arms folded with a smug smile, a thin white umbrella balanced in the crook of her elbow as Hunter came in behind her, door shutting loudly, large hood up as he brushed rain water off his jacket, a heavy rifle case thumping against his backpack. Voracia tapped a finger to her lips as her hair writhed behind her, wrapping around her body as the Sniper's heavy boots thudded over to the table. He gave a wave and a smile to Id and Ego, before giving Voracia a look.
"Be nice Voracia. Sorry we're late, Voracia wanted us to stop and grab umbrellas when it started raining. Hope you weren't waiting too long, ladies."
"Followed by trying to find someone hiding in the library instead of waiting for us at our patrol route."
"Voracia..."
Voracia gave a disdainful sniff at the library, seeming to act like the books would crumble into black ink and smear all over her as she moved closer to Hunter, golden eyes roving the area. Hunter, for his part, rummaged through the backpack, then pulled out a collapsible umbrella.
"I'm pretty sure the umbrella will be big enough for both of us, if not I've got a jacket and you can use the umbrella, Eika."
Voracia gave a laugh, hand covering her mouth as she smirked at the sniper.
"You're so tactless. You didn't even introduce yourself and yet you called her by her first name as if you know everything about her!"
Hunter blanched at the realization.
"Oh crap, sorry! I just...when they said my partner was blind, I just knew it was you so...*ahem* I'm Hunter Williams, nice to meet you Miss Munashii, Miss Id, and Miss Ego."
Hunter, for all his cheerful demeanor and lack of physical abilities, was one of the few students who was aware of practically everyone. His awareness of his surroundings led to a certain amount of knowledge of people in the Academy, and Eika was no exception. He had seen the blind student before, and her familiars, in the Tamer classes. It didn't take long to pick up their names, mostly from the whining of the one known as Ego and the chastising of Id. However, because of his knowledge, he tended to act very friendly to people, even though they often had no idea who he was in their first meeting. Voracia walked up behind the boy, giving a short curtsy as he gestured at her.
"This is Voracia, my famil-"
"We both know you're MY vassal, not the other way around!"
"-iar....We should get going, we're already behind schedule because of me. I think we have the school grounds today right?"
The boy laid one finger gently on Eika's shoulder to let her know where he was, offering her an arm and ignoring Voracia's hair reaching into his backpack and snatching an energy bar to munch on via the fanged mouth on the back of her head. The boy hoped it would be a quiet patrol, mostly because he was out of his element. Yes, he had the Makarov and Voracia, but he preferred seeing the world through a scope, not up close. A demon showing up near him, without his rifle and without the element of distance, would most likely end terribly for him. Still, he had a job to do, and he wasn't about to let his partner walk around without him.
"Whenever you're ready."

She swore she never sighed, and huffed so many times in her life, of all the things to be stuck with, while everyone else in the damn school went to have a grand old time on their little field trip, she was inevitably stuck with the menial task of guarding the grounds, with some other unfortunate soul. Not only did the thought not appeal to her, but she almost found herself unwilling to get out of bed, if only Lexion hadn't called her. The little dork (or rather big dork) called out of concern probably, he was like the over-caring mother that nobody wanted, that she somehow ended up befriending. She would never admit that Lexion was the first person in which her judgement fell through, when she expected him to be callous in some regards, or even greedy, he always thought about others first, and that legitimately scared her, to be faced with someone who didn't match her cynical expectations in any way. In a strange sense that was what made it so easy for them to become friends, it was also the reason why he was pestering her so early in the morning to report for duty. She held the phone close to her ear, while strapping on her boots, and hte rest of her apparel. "You sound far too eager to get this thing underway Lex."

Lexion paused for a moment on the side of the line, before Niorin heard some shuffling, then the snap of velcro, for all she knew he could have been adjusting that huge ass sword he carried around. "I'm not excited or anything, just wouldn't want to be late." the softness of his voice was even apparent through the phone, Niorin noted this as she maneuvered her foot around in her boots to make sure they weren't uncomfortable or anything. "That sounds exactly like you.. she murmured as she stood from her bed, and pulled her jacket closer to her chest. "Anyhow, It seems I've been paired up with shark dweeb. Niorin could hear an audible gasp from the other side of the line, and she half-wished that Lex was being sarcastic, knowing him it was probably serious. " Hey, that's mean, at least try to remember your partners name, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't like you calling him a dweeb." Niorin cracked her neck, and her face distorted into an expression of annoyance at Lex's complaining. "It's not like he could hear through walls or something, anyways, I gotta head out. Maybe we'll see each other later. Aren't you paired with that one guy? ah...what was his name? Whatever, Doesn't matter he's not my partner. I'll see you later." She ended the conversation before Lex could object and ask her more menial questions that she had no patience to answer this morning, her mood was already a bit above frustration so she wanted to get this over as fast as she could before Lex started annoying her more. She looked around her room inside the small refrigerator, and pulled out a fresh tuna sandwich and put it inside her pack, probably something she was saving to eat for later. Breakfast wasn't really on her mind right now.

With her bow and arrows set behind her, and her bracer on, she headed out of her room. It wasn't long before she found herself in the middle of the hallways, and found a few students, who like her; had been roped into the cafeteria incident and tasked with this job, Her ears twitched to listen in on the variety of sounds around, the most important being that of the patter of rain outside, the appearance of which made her hope her partner wasn't planning for their patrol area to be anywhere outside. Lucky for her, it wasn't long before she saw him, it was a miracle she even remembered what he looked like considering her nature, she stretched her arms out and put them behind her head before stopping a few feet away from him. "Well...I'm here, we might as well just get this over with."

She sized him up for a moment before speaking again. "I'm Niorin, though you've probably heard of me already right? You can call me Nio for short but I might not respond. I didn't really catch your name when they put us in a group so do you mind telling me?"

He stares at his phone in concern when Niorin hangs up, but's it's totally expected he supposes. "That damned feline demon, it's early in the morning, and Lex can already hear Adena talking to him, usually the demon keeps silent until Lex returns from a normal school day. Suffice it to say, his voice is actually growing on Lex, but not in the way he would have liked it to. "That's my friend you're talking about there.."[/b ] he mentioned, as he adjusted the straps of his sheath across his chest.[b]"I understand, but she is painfully pessimistic, I often wonder how the two of you even became acquaintances. Even more, how you've avoided telling her about me, if anything, she's probably the one who understands my nature the most."

Lexion sighed for a moment, this could lead into him explaining how he needed Lex's body, how they should become one as planned. "Please, now's not the time, I'm probably late." he interrupted before Adena could get another word in, the demon grumbled and then remained silent as Lexion ventured out of his room. It had been a tough few years growing into his size and weapons, for one, he wasn't nearly as tall, or even as strong 2 years ago, and it seemed that the intense training he put himself through supplied much of what made up his current self. Even then, he was still not the best fighter, clumsy, and often times too forgiving or careful with his blade, he was often bested by many a warrior at the academy, no matter how much he physically trained, he was mentally stunted by his morals, which were too frigid to begin with. At first glance, many would assume that Lex easily made up the small batch of students in A class, but his skills would quickly show that he could be incompetent at times. He was definitely planning on changing that, even if his mental state wouldn't allow it. He had to to survive, and he'd rather not return to his small family with nothing to show for his time spent at the Academy. Not to mention his last name usually brought about fear to those who knew his relatives, the demons that ruled the criminal underworld single-handledly, that also made it difficult to make friends of any kind, People naturally assumed that he wasn't to be messed with not only because of his stature, but the wrongdoings of his family.

The thought of these things bared down on the young man, and yet he still kept positive despite it all. Maybe it would be a surprise to people that he thought about these things often, even Niorin who often thought he had more of a one track mind than anything else. When he found himself in the middle of the hallway, he suddenly wondered just where his partner would be. He knew that they were similarly built, though other that he didn't know much about him. Searching around he could see other groups who were probably in the same predicament, knowing that seeing two or more people meant that they were paired together, and with a few assumptions about where students were assigned to watch, he correctly guessed the that the balcony was probably being guarded as well. From there, he found his partner, he approached in a bit of a panic.

"Sorry, I must be late...anyhow, it's nice to finally meet you, everything happened so fast a few days ago with the whole cafeteria incident." he leaned a little ways to take a good look at the window, and the rain that was pouring out of the dark clouds. " Looks like it's going to rain, that's too bad...I would've brought an umbrella if I knew" He stared back at him. "I didn't get your name before, I'm Lexion. he figured it was better to start the small talk off with that than ramble about the rain, the last thing he wanted to do was seem as if he talked endlessly.

The outside was wonderful. Really, Cara could spend all her days out there and she wouldn't be bothered one bit by her detachment from civilized behavior. She had spent fourteen years of her life in her father's dimension and although it had an inside and an outside, the outside bit really didn't compare to Earth. For a demon, she found herself having a weird empathy with the creatures that inhabited the forests surrounding the school. One would think that she's a crazed gun-toting half-blood but only two thirds of said claim is actually true. In reality, she loves randomly wandering the forest but getting an animal to stay close to you whenever you smell like a demon is nigh on impossible.

So, when it started raining, she didn't actually grumble and exclaim her hatred of some deity or the weather system in general. Instead, she let it wash over her before she recounted some old teaching from her survival teacher that exposure to the elements can cause pointless energy-loss and may even cause hypothermia. It was only then that she slid her hood up to cover her hair. For someone so self-conscious of other parts of herself, she really didn't care what shape her hair ended up in. Usually it only got exposure to a comb for about two seconds in the morning while she was failing at pulling on some clothing so she could even attempt a dash to first class.

She realised with a sigh that she actually had to meet up with her partner for today's scouting. That was something she didn't like - she was perfectly fine with being social and all that in the school but once she was outside she preferred to be by herself, not having to trail around a fifteen year old who would probably make too much noise to be useful as a scout. Like most people around the school, she only had some general knowledge on who the kid was and what he was good at. She knew he was a tamer and that had been one of her main points when she tried to convince them to not be paired with him. She would have preferred another archer, someone who she could rely on to watch her back even if she would never need it.

With a start, she noticed that: 1. There was a freaky-looking storm gathering and 2. She was still up a tree. Once the latter was dealt with, she straightened herself out and inspected the sky. Figuring it must have just been some weird weather, she mentally recapped where she had to be and headed off with long strides. She wasn't very tall either so long strides to her were normal strides to people that were blessed with a completely average height. Finally though, she found the place and decided to wait for him in a tree - trees were wonderful shelter for when the wind had a nasty bite to it - which it did.

Niorin caught Darius' attention and stopped him in the middle of the hallway. She was obviously looking over her partner, so Darius took the moment to consider her as well. She seemed to exude an aura of apathy toward him. Was that inherent or deliberate? Either way, he found it somewhat irritating.

"I'm Niorin, though you've probably heard of me already right?" she said. It was a pretty irritating introduction, Darius thought. A little too arrogant, but not quite arrogant enough to get called out on. Well then.

He cocked his head when she finished her introduction. "Niorin? Never heard of you," he said nonchalantly.

That wasn't true, of course. It was a big school, but it wasn't that big. Everybody at least knew of everybody else. And besides that, Darius was reasonably sure they'd had a class together at some point, probably.

He started patrolling down the hall again, assuming his partner would just follow along. "I'm Darius. We've got this wing of the school. Should be pretty simple, and we don't even need to get wet. Which is good; you don't seem like the type to enjoy running around in the rain, eh?"

Ooh, that was a good moment for a distant rumble of thunder to reach them. Still a ways off, but that would indeed be an awful storm starting out there.

Annoying...that's what today was. A huge pile of annoying stuff. Steve loved staying inside and talk to Rai, it was where he could gather his thoughts and ideas. At home, even when he was sent outside, he would climb up to his treehouse to get peace from the world outside. He couldn't argue with his parents this school was alright, nice place for him to just relax and discuss stuff with Rai. But now he was being forced to goutside and meet his new 'partner' for Scouting? That was just a pain...nothing more. For a start, most people found Steve to be weird and strange, since he always seemed out of it and whispered stuff under his breath, when in realityn he was talking to Rai or listening to her advice. But secondly, Stephen hated making social encounters, so he usually chose to try to get out of them by making up an excuse like he had been chased by a polar bear or 'sorry, i gotta go. My dad's rain dance is away to start'.

"Ugh, why do we even have to have a partner, Stevey? We're already a fully functioning team!" Rai complained swinging her little legs on his shoulder as he opened the door to the 'great' outdoors. A cold gust hit him as the door opened and Rai frowned once more as one of her purple flames flickered. "Sure we can't just drop out? This girl's like 2 years older than you! They shoulda got someone your age. And an archer? Oh PLEASE! They're just boring people who shoot arrows. As if that's special!" Steve laughed at his familliar as he quickly made his way towards the tree he was to meet his partner at. His red hair was getting all caught by the wind and that made him even more annoyed so he had to stop t try and get it back into shape. As he did so he sighed, "I don't like this as much as you do Rai, but we kinda have to or we go back to my crazy parents...or do you want that?"

Rai stopped swinging her legs for a second and then burst into laughter, "Oh Steve, you crack me up!" Steve laughed as well as he got up and dusted off his shirt just in case it was dirty. He didn't want to meet his new partner, but he wanted to look good for it, that was another one of Rai's lessons. Always look good when you go meet girls. But again this was the great mind that came up with 'worms are actually cursed humans'. Again...Stephen had tried to get out of having a partner, by claiming Rai was his partner, but she was a demon and he was a tamer so he was froced to pair up with an 'archer'. He was pretty sure the girl was gonna be an obnoxious sharp shooter who had no care for her partner because he was a 15 year old, red haired boy who hung around with a demon. Finally he found the tree he had agreed to meet her.....no way was he going to manage getting up the tree.

Rai giggled and punched Steve's shoulder playfully. "She's probably gonna shoot an arrow in your head Steve, just wait for the sound of string being released!" SAhe giggled again and siappeared into Steve's tatoo on his shoulder causing him to blush. Looked like he was on his own...to meet a girl who could kill him in two seconds. "Um...hey!" He called out to the tree where he saw his partner. The wind was cutting into his face so he moved closer to get cover. "I-I'm your new partner...I think...." He shook his head. "I mean---I'm the tamer, Stephen Jelly. Nice to meet you." Right now all he could hear was Rai's mischevious laughs at his wakwardness.

Cara was lazed back over a branch, regarding the sky with a confused expression with her back to the main trunk of the tree as she sighed. It had already been five minutes and her stupid little partner still hadn't shown. Well, little was not the best word to describe someone who was four inches taller than her and stupid probably didn't apply either but she really didn't care at all. She was on the huff that she had to drag along a fifteen year old and it was really affecting her mood.

With a start, she realised that he was already there and looking up to her with some sort of expectation and she really couldn't help but feel dread at having to drag him about all bloody night long. So, with a deep sigh, she slid down from the tree and landed on expert feet before she stood up to her full height - a sight that wasn't particularly menacing unless you caught sight of the gun on her hip. "You're late, Jelly." Jelly? Oh sweet Jesus Cara, you're smooth. Her mind silently mocked her as she crossed her arms and stared at him. "Come on, we have places to be and I'm really not in the mood to stand around and allow you to regale me with your excuses." It really would have been a dark stride past him if she could walk at the same pace as normal people.

Cara was really a bubbly person in reality and you'd be hard pressed to find her without a a childish grin on her face but he was invading on her space that was only reserved for her and her alone. With a small sigh, she realised she was being a bit of a bitch and turned around to him. "Name's Cara, by the way. I'm sorry if I was being a bit of a bitch."

"Oh, the brat's here?! Jeez..."
"Behave yourself. Good evening, Voracia. Hunter."

Eika's head turned in the general direction of the voices ringing out to her, a smile gracing her lips as she closed her eyes and listened intently to what the other had to say. Ah, rain...So she had heard it right. A small hum fell from her lips before she herself began to speak up in favor of correcting the sniper's familiar in her hasty judgment towards the presence of the three here.
"Id and Ego are to proceed me towards the library in the event that the patrol spot that we are to meet at is vacant after twenty minutes of waiting as part of the professor's paranoia towards my condition. Becoming lost or injured would not bode well for the sake of cleaning up the mess, should one be made. Thus, I was given the library's key to remain here during the times that I am not with you or another student in order to maintain a calm environment around me. There is no need to apologize, however...I'm not quite good at keeping time, as you may already know, and thus it is hard for me to know when I arrive early or late without the help of my lovely familiars."

Whilst one said familiar seemed to be like a cat, hissing at Voracia, as Id leaned over to hit her upside the head with the book she'd been indulging upon before placing it down on the table and standing up.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sir Hunter, and you may address me by my first name as you wish. That is the first sign of trusting one, is it not? May we hopefully work together and avoid a situation like last time. My sister would like to express her sincere apologies for bringing about the little fight that began. She and I both loathe our Master being insulted for the loss of her sight."
Prim and proper Id was, taking her place at her Master's side as Eika took the arm offered out to her and slid herself out from her seat, a small thanks given as she contemplated upon the question for but a split second before answering appropriately. Ego slid out of her own chair soon after, a grumble of an "apology" forced out as she took her place at the girl's other side, further away from Voracia as preferred, in order to maintain her temper.
"No, the umbrella should be able to fit us both perfectly. Id and Ego can shield themselves from the rain with relative ease, so it is of no need for you to be placed with little more than a hood to shield yourself from the rain. You are also correct in our patrol route today. We may pass a few others with the path that was instructed upon, but it should be of no consequence."

...Hm. Voracia was a strange little thing, but nothing that surpassed what Eika had -- in her younger years, before Id and Ego -- seen before. For a split second, images of the white beings that she'd spend so much trying to learn of flashed through her head, causing her to take a deep breath and sigh before coming back to a pleasant demeanor and taking the first step forward.
"...Ah. If you'd lead, please? I would prefer not to run into Voracia or the wall, for the matter."
"Ah, don't forget this."
Ego finally spoke up, sliding a cane into Eika's hands -- decorated with a flourish of beautiful butterflies at that -- in order to help her grasp what was ground and what was not before slipping back behind her.
"...! Thank you, Ego.~ Now, now, I think we're all ready. Id, if you'd lock up the library on our way out?..."

The key was passed over to the familiar, who nodded in turn and made her way to the entrance while gesturing them onward. Let the patrol of the day begin.~

Although Kanaris' appearance in his true form was brief, it was enough it seemed, that it sent out a large radius of his scent to the lesser demons. Larger demons seemed to dismiss this small, brief scent for nothing but another low demon, and ignored. But the lesser demons, they felt a sort of attraction to it, sort of like bees to honey or bugs to light or some other very accurate comparison. As such, although Kanaris resided over the city district of Platinum City from whence he enjoyed perusing through the human advances in technology, small demons propped up from everywhere. From simply things as ebbing from the shadowy parts of sidewalk cracks or to drastic measures as erupting from the fog rising in a passerby's glasses, it was accurate to say the occasion caused for quite a havoc.

And it wasn't only in the downtown this happened. Even the haven past the gates of DHA were unsafe as raindrops fell and hissed, turning into small demons upon landing, attaching to one another in a sort of protective hive. Debris from the sand and fallen leaves rushed up in gusts of winds, halfway transforming into small demons that attached themselves to living things. Bugs were lit up in small puffs of fire, trees dug into with sharp teeth, sucked dry by a multitude of fattening monsters. And as these little demons continued on their rushes of pure desire, soon it was evident that the safe eden of the Academy had been breached, and the students in their studies had no way of knowing it.

Good thing not everyone was studying.
Gabriel "Angel" Avlon

At the light pitter pattering of rain, Angel inwardly cursed those Above- both biblically and governmentally- tugging on his collar as though trying to hope a hood wood appear. As it was, only his hefty locks of blonde protected him from the rain, which isn't to say it did much given his face- which was a very important part in his opinion- was still left unguarded to the infrequent droplets. "Augh," the blonde groaned as he wiped at his face with his sleeves. "This is ridiculous, why am I even out here, swear to-" His mouth promptly stopped moving at a sound, however.

Turning his head, his hands already reaching behind his back, his blue eyes met up with red. A timid, "Excuse me?" escaped out of the girl's mouth, and Angel noted then that said girl was in a wheelchair, holding a closed umbrella. Alright, he thought to himself, his mind whirring at a supersonic speed- how dumb could this chick get? A wheelchair? Couldn't she get training to be a Tamer for that? And why the fuck was her umbrella closed? Did she not realize it was fucking raining out? Wait. A wheelchair? As Angel pondered on it more, his eyes narrowing into thought, he reminisced over the last two shitty days and how both patrolling areas were wheelchair inaccessible which wasn't a fucking problem given that demons were more functional in terms of rides for the disabled.

But nevermind that.

"Holy fuck," were the first two words Angel chose to share with his partner. "Don't tell me- you're my partner?" His hand left the case behind his back as he covered his face in distress instead, shouting rhetorics left and right- "Where the fuck have you been? Why the fuck are you late? You're umbrella's fucking closed?" As he rambled and groaned, he almost didn't notice a bubbling on his sleeve, the spot of rain he'd wiped on it turning into a small hissing fuss.

Almost.

With the trained swiftness of a maestro, Angel whipped out his bow from the case in his bag, using it to shove at the small demon, tossing the ball of pure hissy fit onto the ground. Turning to his partner, he snorted, "The name's Angel. Can you fight?"
Ixion Farbright

"Well I mean," started Ixion as he opened up his crossbow slightly, raising it to cover Ase, "I don't think it's too mysterious. I think there was a weather report on it, but I'm not too sure." The idiot smiled brightly as infrequent patters of rain dropped from the dark sky and onto his shield, Ixion not even thinking for a heartbeat if the Lady was waterproof, too busy trying to keep his partner dry. Of course, he wasn't entirely too sure if Ase really wanted to be dried in his way, but given that she had approached him closer than she'd ever before (without him being in any sort of life-or-death danger), he reckoned she'd want something like this. To Ixion, he had learned that his partner was the quiet sort, with a face that liked to frown more than smile, sort of like a princess. And so, with that deduction, he'd come to the conclusion that Ase was indeed a princess, and he did her best to spoil her whenever she seemed to need it.

Like now, for instance, with the rain shielding thing. Her frown was different, too, with a hint of distress, which Ixion assumed to be because of the rain. No princess liked to get wet, after all. It truly is amazing, what with Ixion's amazing observation abilities that he still amounted to be such an idiot.

"Well, if it makes you feel better," started the taller teen, "it doesn't seem like it'll be much worse. I think it'll be a small drizzle at best." And it seemed as though he said those words, the drops of rain that had gathered on Lady Whiplash formed into several demons in a mix of dark and red, the smaller ones sticking together and turning into a bigger blob of ugly, the newly formed larger ones oozing to get closer to the arm attached to the bow. "Woah!" exclaimed Ixion in shock, swinging down his arm to try and fling the demons off, accidentally hitting Ase in the head at the same time.

Raising his hand in shock, the demons having been thrown off, he exclaimed apologetically, "Sorry, sorry, I really didn't meant to!!" His unarmed arm wrapped around Ase's head, his hand rubbing the pain away as a mother would to a child, his other arm rising and letting loose a flurry of arrows that shot at the demons, they burning and rising into hits of squealing hisses, smoke rising as their bodies eroded. "Are you okay?" he asked, letting go of Ase, his left hand tugging on the crossbow on his right, rigging Lady Whiplash to it's full open width.

Maxamillion "Hulk" Lovecannon

Maxamillion wiped away the minute drops of water from his forehead with the back of his hand, he had begun walking down the hallway, mostly idling his time away instead of doing his job. "Least it's not a fucking hurricane..." He muttered, looking back to the outdoors. The pitter patter of water was light and spastic, nothing too unbearable.

The boy turned to switch sulking directions when a voice came from behind him. He spun enthusiastically to see a like aged man approaching him, after a few words his hand outstretched, a gesture of goodwill.

Max looked at the hand, then at the owners face. This could end up pretty bad. "...Hey" Was all he offered in return conversationally, he took the hand and quickly pumped it up and down, withdrawing his own to his pocket. "So...we're partners then." He stated it blandly and continued to read the person, his eyes lazing over them. He seemed tough enough, but he also seemed a bit...Uptight.

"Names Max by the way..." He turned back to look outside, an odd smell seemed to be wafting in, nothing...Easily describable, something a bit dark, a bit rich. Probably nothing... He thought the scent away, looking once again to his partner. "So...What do you do?" He didn't specify his question any further, he was more trying to get a read on this person, any answer would do, but one of his combat capabilities would be convenient.

A light hissing sound drew Max's head away from the other, taking it back to nature. He looked about curiously until he saw it's source. An ugly mass, one that had just formed seemingly out of nothing. "You know what." He took a step forward, goading the enemy to make a like move for him. "Just show me."

Pressing is foot down hard, he stomped the thing into paste. His left eye twitched and his teeth clenched a bit, some sort of grin formed lightly on his lips.

Show time.
Sel'ar M. Eindz

The girl jerked back a bit, every question berating her ears caused a little space to form between the girl and...boy?

It sounded like a boy...

"Uhm..." Was all Sel could manage at first, she didn't really know where to begin with all those questions. She had gripped the umbrella with both hands, rising it up a little bit defensively. She was about to attempt some excuse for her horrible displays when a bubble of evil formed on the boy(?)'s sleeve, and he immediately wiped it out of existence.

A few droplets of rain came to life on Sel's lap, coming together and creating a small mess of living evil.

A small yelp exited her lip and she jerked back, the thing got caught off balance and fell to the ground angrily. "N-No!" She answered the last question given and pleaded all at once. The thing collected others of it's kind, and grew a tad bit bigger, one small drop landed on the demoness' hand and took form.

Another small call of panic and she flung it off, causing it to take to the sky and buzz with some discontent. She took the umbrella in both hands and instinctively swatted at it, missing once and clocking it firmly with a second swipe.

The one of the floor came within her comfort zone and caused her to take panicked action once more. Pushing her chair forward she nearly crushed it, causing the thing to back away. She looked up to Angel with two big eyes. "H-help?"

Ase sighed slightly as the taller boy rose his weapon-covered arm up to shield her from the rain, a light blush of embarrassment dusting her cheeks. Her eyes turned skyward again as the rain began to fall in slow, fat drops, trying to keep herself distracted from the idiot above who was staring at her like a doting mother. It was then, in the growing moment of silence, that she noticed it. The smell, something like a mix of garbage and dirty water, a sickly sweet scent that forced her hands to clamp over her mouth and nose. The blue-haired idiot was talking again, possibly trying to reassure her, but Ase was too concentrated on the smell to hear, and then he stopped talking. She quickly glanced up at her partner as she noticed his attention was on the shield above her head. The scent was stronger now, and surrounding them, but before Ase could call out a warning Ixion's arm fell down onto her head, sending a shocking pain through her skull.

Ase lowered her head as the pain pulsates on the top of her head, making her ears ring and eyes water. Her skin prickled, body attempting to become more alert to the fact that there were demons around, and then she felt a cool hand wrap around her head.

"Sorry, sorry, I really didn't meant to!!"

Ixion's voice was heavy with guilt, and his hand was softly rubbing away the pain on her scalp as he fired at the most immediate threats. She forced her eyes open, wiping away her tears as she glanced about the rooftop, taking note of how small and frail the demons appeared to be. Her head was now barely hurting, the pain having been swept away by Ase's interest in the fight an Ixion's motherly caressing. Eventually, the demons closest to them were dealt with and Ixion released her head, questioning if she was alright. After another moment of assessing the situation she nodded,

"I-I'm okay... Uhm... What just ha- Never mind." She quickly shut up and rose one of her dainty hands to her mouth, biting tightly down on the pad of her index finger until blood was drawn. Again, she winced, but quickly recovered and knelt down to the floor, drawing a small magic circle with the blood from her finger. The red of the circle glowed blue after a moment, and Ase stood back up as a familiar staff formed from the center of the circle. She quickly gripped Patron, pulling it away from the circle while at the same time she smeared the blood with the toe of her shoe. Ase turned towards Ixion, holding the staff in two, shaking hands,

"We have to get off the roof, we can't get trapped up here," the sound of more devils forming made Ase freeze for a moment, eyes shifting around the rooftop before continuing on, "neither of us can jump off unscathed, and we have to see if the other lookouts are doing okay-" Something sharp gripped her leg, digging deep into her ankle, and Ase cried out in pain as she kicked forward, sending another small devil flying across the way. She quickly slammed Patron down onto the rooftop, sending a rather large yet weak-looking magic circle after the demon she kicked away. It had luckily landed in a small group, and she had just enough skill to cause most of their bodies to erode away into nothing.

'Thank God for creating beings weaker than me.'

"If you need a shield, call for me, but for now let's just get downstairs."

"Niorin? Never heard of you,"

Niorin scratched one of her ears as she heard that, but she also couldn't blame Darius, it wasn't every students job to remember every other student that just happened to waltz by them in the hallways, or attend one of the several classes they shared. For her a reaction like that was expected, but she felt a bit of it came from her probably brash introduction, which she of course didn't even give much of a thought to how she came off to Darius. "Ah...That's too bad I guess." She uttered as she followed suit after him once he began patrolling the hallways like he was before. "I'm Darius. We've got this wing of the school. Should be pretty simple, and we don't even need to get wet. Which is good; you don't seem like the type to enjoy running around in the rain, eh?"

"Well you guessed right, I'm not exactly a fan of unexpected rain showers."

Walking behind him she took a few meandering looks around the hallways, not that she thought that there was actually something worth having to patrol over, but the sound of the rain was actually making her slightly uneasy, as well as a smell that most definitely wasn't a rain scent. It was perhaps harder for her to articulate what she was sensing to someone whose own sensitivity to the elements probably weren't exactly as accurate as hers, as this scent continued to fill her nostrils, something she would think of as slightly familiar, but at the same time foreign. As she strolled closer to one of the several windows in the hallway, a hissing sound buzzed on her now twitching ears, the muscles of her ears turned instinctively towards that window, as she stopped in her steps, taking a full sniff of the air around them. "Please tell that me you smell that?" for her the smell was slightly alluring, but at the same time something she could easily ignore for the time being. She wondered if Darius could sense something wrong beyond these hallways, as the patter of rain transformed into distinct sizzling sounds that hit the roof, the windows, and the exterior walls of the Academy, but beyond this the two probably wouldn't have been able to figure out just what it was unless they took a detour from where they currently were.

"I think we should check outside I'm hearing some strange things, I don't know if you do as well, but I figure it's worth a peak."

Lexion was failing to come up with the words to describe Max, but he probably would have went with dry, stern, the type of fellow you'd find at the back of a bar, musing to himself, Lex had some kind of fanatical delusion as to which he could place Max right under, but the thought whisked away as quickly as the rain was brought back to mind. Now that he thought about it, he could see why they were matched up, but at the same time Max didn't seem wildly enthralled with the idea, and Lex wasn't sure just how he felt either. Max already seemed capable, so there was enough of that to go off on. Once he looked back at the rain outside, he found a certain scent filling his nostrils, it reminded him of the smooth cigarettes his mother would smoke occasionally, and at the same time, it had the essence of a lesser demon. It also made him want to sneeze, but he held in the need as Max posed a question towards him.

"So...What do you do?"

Before he could answer he took a step backwards and sneezed, the scent aggravating his senses, but making his own inner demon laugh with delight. "Ugh..that smell... Lexion went about rubbing under his nose, when he realized that Max sensed the very same thing. "M-me? Well I- he was cut off by the hissing sounds that suddenly filled the room as a black mass formed right in front of the pair, he pushed back the need to sneeze again as Max prepared himself for a battle, the mass seemed small, and inconsequential, but if it was coming from the rain there was probably no telling just how many of those things were around and how many could form right in front of them. There wasn't any doubt in his mind that they could handle it, but just how many would come looking for the two of them, he also wondered if strange occurrences were happening like this around campus, and just how given that the Academy was relatively safe against hostile demons. He heard Max's next command, and was already reaching for the sword on his back. Swinging it around as soon as Max's foot squashed the small mass of demonic energy under his foot. "At least he's quick." Lex thought to himself as he walked closer to the balcony with the sword hanging on his shoulder.

He turned to Max for the moment. "You think we should go down there and see if there are anymore?" the balcony didn't seem too high to jump off of, and if anything would probably cause a minimal amount of damage if either of them were careless, and as far as Lex could tell they could both handle themselves, but this was their post, so maybe it was best they stay here and keep the miniature demons from gaining entrance into the Academy. He would wait on whatever Max would decide, as the rain seemed to grow swarthy with demonic taint abound.

Jace couldn’t help but smile as he noticed his partner make his way under the make-shift umbrella. It had been a while since he could just relax in the rain like this. He always had a soft spot for the rain. When he was younger, the only time that he would get to relax was on a rainy day. He would summon his wolves and cuddle up with them for most of the day. He did always love dogs, especially wolves like his. He felt himself slowly drifting off as he relaxed against the wall and was about to fall asleep when he heard something that he didn’t think he would ever hear at the Academy. From above, there was a blood curdling screech. He looked up to see Aiah with her wings spread wide before she swooped down and passed by the boys before flying back up and surveying the land.

“Danger?” He asked as he lowered his shield and looked around. As the rain hit the ground, there was a strange smell that came with them. It was just as Jace was considering going to a puddle just outside the gate that he noticed it. The puddle started to shake before it made a loud hissing and rose up off the ground as some kind of disgusting mass of evil. It was a moment before Jace could react to what he was seeing. He glanced to his shield to see that it was covered in little creatures, much like the one in the puddle but smaller. In an instant he flicked his shield up and sent the creatures flying into the sky.

“Aiah!” He called out as he looked back up at her. In a moment, she swooped down and struck one of the creatures with her wing, knocking it back towards the forest across the clearing. In a swift movement, he chanted a small mantra and the tattoos on his back started to glow. A small portal opened up, and a swirling black and white mass formed from it. The mass split apart, forming two wolves, a black and a white one, bearing their teeth to the newly arrived threat.

“Dib! Onai! Go!” He called as he directed them to circle around. He was hoping that their presence would ward off the threat, if not only momentarily.

“Looks like we are in for some trouble.” He said as he glanced to his partner. It was his first time facing an actual demon in in the wild, but he had practiced for most of his childhood. Needless to say, his heart was pounding. If these demons had come out of nowhere like this, then there was infinite chance for some kind of ambush. It was times like this he was glad he had his familiars to help him.

“Ready to fight?” He asked his partner, not taking his eye off the creatures in the clearing.
