Wind blew by as a pair of icy-grey eyes watched the street below, watching the retreating lights of a police car move off into the night with one more criminal in its confines. That would be one less villain on the streets. Shade sighed, sitting down on the ledge of the tall building she had chosen, her gaze scanning for any more trouble and not finding any. It had been a slow night for the hero.
The loud sound of an alarm rang out in the night air, still noisily ringing as a darkly dressed woman faced off with the average burglar. Behind him lay one of the city’s banks, one of its windows broken and shattered. “You really should find a new job. This one won’t get you very far.” She said simply, dodging a kick meant for her jaw. The man lunged out once more, aiming to get her into a headlock, but the girl merely elbowed him in the stomach. It seemed to be just a battle of fists, well until the idiot pulled out a pistol. It shone a little in the street light, the sleek handgun being pointed right at Shade menacingly. A single shot ran out, whizzing right through the air she had just been standing in. She simply stepped out from behind him though, a mass of shadow wrapping around him like a strait jacket. The gun was easily dislodged from his hand and the police were notified of where to pick him up.
That had been what led to her sitting on a lone rooftop nearby, the young hero merely passing the time until she was needed again.
