Haven't been on here for probably half a year now. This'll probably be the only RP I do for a while. Anyhow, I'm going to try to keep this short, sweet, and to the point. Warning: Spoilers may lurk ahead.
Anyone playing will be playing as either a professor or a student at Miami City's signature Duel Academy, Leo Duel School, a year and a half after the first Pendulum Summon was performed by Yuya Sakaki. Thanks to many hours of research and experimentation on behalf of Leo Corporation's CEO, Reiji Akaba, Pendulum Monsters have become madly popular in all parts of the world reached by the monopolistic Leo Corporation. Due to the availability of Pendulum Monsters, Leo Duel Schools everywhere have since incorporated the new form of Summoning as its sixth Summoning Class. These classes include "Tribute Summon", "Ritual Summon", "Fusion Summon", "Synchro Summon", "Xyz Summon", and "Pendulum Summon".
This will expand to more than just the realm of every-day classes and such. However, expanding on the idea of where the plot will go leaves spoilers in the air. This RP will use the Anime-Based 4000 LP system, as it is based in an Anime setting, unless I am convinced otherwise. Action Duels will also be available, but they will pose a bit of a complication that I will address later. Also, there are two methods to utilize Dueling in this RP: We can all register on Dueling Network and construct our Decks from its database; OR We can play our Decks like on the anime and pick-and-choose when and where cards enter our hands. Each has its pros and cons.
DN Pros:
- Purely realistic Duels
- Playing Field Visualization
DN Cons:
- Potentially more difficult Action Dueling
- Collaborating for Duels must be done all at once
Scripted Pros:
- Leisurely Collaboration
- Anime-Only Card availability (to an extent)
Scripted Cons:
- Unrealistic and potentially unfair Duels
- Lack of Field Visual
I'll leave it to the RP'ers to decide which approach we will take for Dueling. I'm alright either way. Those who play must choose ONE (1) Summon Class to attend, and that will be your default form of Summoning (no others will be available to you initially). As time progresses and your character becomes more prestigious, it will be possible to attend other classes and learn new forms of Summoning.
Action Duels will be easy as pie with Scripted Duels, because there's almost nothing to it that makes it any more difficult than a typical Duel. BUT if we use the Dueling Network Route: I will create a list of Action Cards with a number assigned to each Card. Firstly, if you're searching for an Action Card: You must roll a six-sided die (DN has an option for that). If the result is a 1 or a 6: You get your hands on an Action Card (if both players dive for an Action Card at the same time and succeed in the die roll, flip a coin and call it for the result). Then a Random Number Generator is used to decide which Action Card is found. Action Cards (for those who are unfamiliar) are activated without being placed on the field, and typically are played instantaneously upon pickup (this is particularly the case with Action Trap Cards). They are sent to the Graveyard after activation, so be sure to keep up with how many you've played.
When CS's are made (wait a couple of days for me to work everything out), they must include a Deck List. Limitations will currently follow the advanced format ban-list with a few exceptions:
- Players will be allowed ONE copy of only ONE Forbidden card.
- I would prefer to stay away from the Egyptian Gods, Legendary Dragons, Signer Dragons, and Numbers if at all possible. They were intended in the Anime to be rare/unique cards, and to have one of these would require a pretty extensive backstory.
- As previously stated: If we use Scripted Duels, Anime/Manga-only cards will be available alongside TCG and OCG cards. However, I will ban-list certain cards based on what seems to be a trend with Konami. For example: Unfair draws and Grave returns are hated on by Konami quite frequently, as well as control seizure.
I think that's everything. Thanks if you stuck with me through all of that. It was a bit longer than intended.
