I've watched SAO and a bit of SAO II. I mostly enjoyed the idea of the plot, the action, and the artwork. The characters and the way they were written make them all seem...cliche, dull, boring, and uninteresting to me.

If anyone wants another anime like SAO's plot of "Stuck-in-game/Can't-leave-game" try Log Horizon. I much more thoroughly enjoyed that anime and I'm eagerly awaiting Log Horizon II.

I'd like to point out that fact that the vast majority of RWBY is cliches and obvious character archetypes. ("Jaune 'dArc? How much more obvious can you get?)

Man, Fuck Alfhiem! Gotta admit though, GGO was a redeeming feature. But! Gotta look at it from Kirito's view. He knows having friends is detrimental, since they will die and make you feel like shit, and slow down a man of his talents and get him killed as in the process. So when he finally got a friend - Sachi - she died. It's only after him and Asuna really get going that he comes out of his shell, since he is confident in her skills as well as his own and they work together very well.

By god, you're right! Anime needs more wangsty protagonists!

Not always. There are some cliches/tropes that are rather annoying and droll.

There are some cliches that are cool and good though, don't get me wrong.

To be fair, there's a difference between cliches and motifs.

RWBY's still pretty badly written though.

Thank you, I have now learned something new. Even if written badly, it still entertains. Which is the main point of it all, to entertain the watcher and provide something enjoyable to experience.

I like Fairy Tail because there's a crapton of more or less unique characters, many of which have development and nearly all of which have backstories which the important ones overcome. Plus magic is cool.

You mean people in the RWBY fandom showing up in RWBY RPs for the insane combat?

Ah, to the rest of BKGA. Kuhaku won't be waking unless you're actually within the room and at his bedside.

Had I known our team name was going to be Camelot, I would've made Laura my original concept of a kind, knightly young woman.

But a certain botanical specimen insisted an awful, racist amazonian with a god complex was a better idea.

Not expressly! He implied it when he rejected her original semblance.

Something about manipulating air pressure and its effect on people being too 'op'.

I never watched a single anime until RWBY came along. Before RWBY I would always ignore animes saying, "They're all angsty, androgynous teens with oversized weapons, huge robots, and weird plot." Then RWBY came along, and since I was a huge Red vs Blue fan, I decided to give it a shot. Then all my waibu friends found out I started watching one anime show, and started suggesting a whole bunch of other amines I should watch. So far I've seen: Attack on Titan (which I liked), Sword Art Online (which I didn't like), Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (liked), Avatar (didn't like), and Deathnote (which I liked at first, until he lost his memory and it became just another crime drama). I'm also currently trying to watch Dragonball. And I think that's all of the amines I've seen.

Lol, I just pictured students fighting Asura having to wear SCUBA gear or other respirators/oxygen masks...
