I'll take DC's animated movies and their great tv shows over any anime

While I wouldn't pick them over anime, those are some high quality shows. I miss Young Justice, in particular.

When people think that posting a post is an accomplishment. If that's the case, you either don't have time for the roleplay or you're losing interest, and it's time to throw in the towel and move on.

I like and sympathise with this wholeheartedly.

To each their own but this isn't really any different then any other fanbase for anything. I think it could be easily argued that comic books have terribly bad fanboys too.

If you think anime is bad..

if you think American cartoons are bad..

If you find marvel comics and DC comics to be bad.. (which is funny because it's "detective comics")

I have something far far worse.

Twilight moms.

One thing that kind of irrationally irks me is when somebody tries to advertise their game or interests as a "craving". I don't know why, but it seems really skeevy and gives the impression that said craving will pass in about a week before they move onto something else.

You're so irrational.
But...uh, have lists been mentioned? Because lists really annoy me. The "Role A x Role B" type lists....especially when there's like, 50 pairings listed. That's not an idea you want to rp, that's just "let's have an excuse for romance to happen." Which, I mean, is fine and all, but wouldn't it be faster to just type that, rather than compile that list?

I may have brought this up in one of my earlier posts.

When your plot can basically be summed up with what costume you picked out of a Halloween store for 50 bucks, I'm pretty sure smut is the goal.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I have a few.

  • I really hate fandom Roleplays that butcher what the actual fandom or series is based on. I mean, I understand that playing a canon character is at times, extremely difficult and people have a hard time portraying them correctly. But there's a massive difference between having a difficulty portraying them opposed to totally butchering them for the sake of story (I especially hate this as pairing-based).

  • I have an issue with people who bring drama into OOC. I understand that human nature is flawed and sometimes we get angry, upset or offended. It's likely going to happen, but I absolutely despise it when people bring it into my OOC. To be fair, this rarely happens, but when you offer the suggestion to listen to venting, you'd think people would just take the offer instead of making a scene with other users.

  • When people won't Roleplay with you or your character because they disagree with your characters morals. Characters are like people -- they are racist, prejudice, they have fears and they have hate. Some are just bitter bastards. I absolutely hate it when people believe that your characters actually reflect your own personal beliefs. And this actually does happen, though it's mostly, as I've noticed, on other sites.

Those a few things I just need to vent. Sorry if these have already been stated, :"D.

  • I feel you on this one. As far as I see it, this happens because some people really are playing themselves in any RP. You get characters that talk and act disturbingly similar to the player behind them. Sometimes a little bit of this is justified, because I feel like a bit of me bleeds into every character I write. Inevitably, people will draw on their own view of the world when writing, and that's natural. But when people really play themselves, it's when they've invested their ego in the character. It's when they go on moral crusades like you described, and when they act suspiciously contrary to the way they wrote their character when someone insults them IC or stuff like that.

For example, I knew this person that wrote their character up as being "bubbly, friendly etc." Standard stuff, but then, when their character gets into a confrontation IC, suddenly they're acting borderline psychotic in response. But the real clincher is the fact the player of this character was pretty much saying OoC that they were planning on wrecking this person's day for messing with their character. Now if that isn't a clear example of what I'm talking about, I don't know what is XD

Next, there was another person that had a character that was a nice enough guy overall, but there was this one person they didn't think much of. The character's player didn't like this other player in the RP, and when they meet their character IC, suddenly, they're a complete dick towards them, in spite of being nice to just about everyone else. This character was a little bit nutty due to experiencing some nasty stuff IC, and the "nice guy" is suddenly completely intolerant of him. It seemed completely contrary to his character beforehand, but given the bad blood between the two players, I think I can assume it was a matter of ego in the game again.

This might be a little off the topic of morality, but the point I'm making is; it's not that your character reflects your personal beliefs, but that their character reflects their beliefs, and their ego. In my opinion, at least. It's been a real problem for me because due to experiences with this sort of thing, I find the line between IC and OoC insults to be somewhat blurred. Like, I sometimes have a hard time telling if it's aimed at me or if it's a genuine IC reaction with no malice behind it.

This is part of the reason that when I do fandom based RPs, I have a semi-solid no-canon character clause. I much prefer original characters using an established setting. People seldom ever get the feel or mannerisms down for a canon character, and I gotta agree; using them for a romance vehicle is eye roll worthy at best, projectile vomit inducing at worst. More often than not, the use of canon characters is for little more than to indulge in a personal fantasy, I find, which isn't really a problem in fanfics as much as it is in roleplays.

The closest I've come to playing as a pre-existing, not-mine original character was someone that was already treated among her fans as being whatever-the-hell-you-want. The ongoing thread from whence she's from preaches a considerably laisez faire canon to any character, there's often some consistency between interpretation; but no one would give a shit if they're any different from an "accepted" personification.

Otherwise there was that one time I adopted someone else's character(s) in Precipice. But I didn't really do anything as the one and we effectively decanonized the other.
