Most of RPG's RPs are becoming uncreative, especially within the Fandom category. Their premises are all too similar, too many of them come from the same source material, and many GMs just pick whatever is popular, even if it's not really plausible.

Yeah, I've been kind of feeling the same lately. A lot of the RPs are looking like the same to me. Slice of life teenaged bullshit, whatever fandom is popular atm, etc. I wish there was a bit more diversity, but then again, I was never really super interested in a lot of what the RPG had to offer. lol

End of Days? It's been like a year since that ran, and while I liked it to continue, I wasn't angry about it ending. Some RP's just end up dead, no matter how good a community is around them.

Guild's diversity isn't the issue, to be fair, just because your taste doesn't align with it. I've been on a few other RP sites as of late and Guild is one of the better ones for range and quality honestly. Take a look at RP Adventures sometime, that site is dull as hell. Also, the summer being here should open up a lot more RP opportunities here in general. In fact this is very much true if you look at the general interest section here on Guild-- survival horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, superhero, slice of life/drama, and thriller are just a small portion of the first page alone. There is no "lacking diversity" here and thinking so seems obtuse and illogical.

I agree with this, people have problems with fandoms until its a fandom they are a part of.

E.G. they will moan about minecraft RPs but then flood the interest checks with overwatch ones.

aside from Harry Potter roleplays, I am almost tired of seeing so many school based rps pop up so much. I get it, school roleplays are fun and relatable, but having them flood the interests checks is just making it generic

Flooding is not a thing.

If there's a demand for certain RP types, those prevail. If the community wants to play something, that's going to prevail. If you're that worried about not finding anything to play in, GM something yourself.

it's not that you countered them, it's more about how you seem to take offense to people getting annoyed at types of roleplays.

What do you have in mind? I am interested in what you have to say.

And I agree that there's too many RPs on this site, especially Nation RPs. You go to that sub-thread and you see so many dead roleplays that last only a few weeks.

There does exist an over representation of certain genres among the roleplaying community here and while people should be free to participate in what they enjoy, I am hardly pleased by the lack of original works. I am sure they are all well and good to those interested, these predominantly fandom series, but why not do something all one's own? In my opinion they snuff out creativity by garnering peoples' limited attention and availability. I have always been opposed to their dominance given the amount of frustration I have personally experienced when seeing some members of my target audience pulled aside and active into them rather than my works or those I subscribe to.

In a way they strike me as insincere, but even that much is not true and I know it. But what I do know is that anime, fandom and slice-of-life categories are significantly more common than many others.
