So why Haze? What does it have to do with anything? Well Haze has many meanings. Freshman, first years, new-bloods, Hazing is something done to them quite often. It can be a test to see their dedication, to test their resilience... and other times it's just a cruel prank. Haze can also mean a mist that obscures. It can also speak about confusion. Cruelty, obscurity, and confusion. Quite the combination, don't you think? Well, I'm sure it means nothing.

List of Player Characters:
Name: Enyo Allaway
Age: 18
Gender: F
Race: Human
Weight: 104lbs
Height: 4’11.75” (5’2.5” in her shoes)
Appearance:
Her outfit is a white with blues stripes, tight, high collared shirt with no sleeves, a short skirt of the same color scheme over black leggings that protect her dignity, and platform shoes that boost her height by almost three inches.
Personality: She’s cocky, loud, and arrogant with a one-track mind. She’s also a perfectionist and is impatient with everyone, including herself. She’s quick to share her opinion and slow to listen to those of others. She respects people who get results and that’s about it. Once you have her respect, she will warm up quickly, but it can be hard to keep that respect, let alone gain it.
Likes: Machines, engineering, tinkering.
Dislikes: Interruptions while she’s working, losing at anything, really talkative people, White Fang.
Strengths: Long range combat, has great aim, is surprisingly strong for her size.
Weaknesses: Can only hold her own up close for so long, is short (falls infuriatingly shy of 5 feet), easily depressed if she fails at something.
Weapon: Auto-bow, “Ratchet Hydra.” It is a very large bow that mechanically increases the power of a shot. On her back she has a large mechanical quiver with three arrow-head containers. She remotely controls which of her special arrow-heads the quiver will automatically attach to her arrows. Upon drawing an arrow, it will prepare another. The hand grip on the bow can be removed and turned into a dagger, or it can be attached to arrow-heads so she can manually stab the heads into enemies. This is necessary as the bow is heavy and hard to maneuver with in close combat. That said, the weight of all her equipment has led to her having very strong, almost comically so, legs.
The hand grip also remotely activates the special effects of the arrow-heads, and can become a shock-fist weapon for brawling, though this is a desperation tactic as she has little formal training in hand-to-hand. These multiple functions are why she calls it the “Hydra.”
Her three arrow heads are: Explosive drills that drill deeper into an enemy and explode, electric link arrows. Multiple arrows can link together and shock any enemies that walk between them or get shot by them; the more arrows, the more powerful the shock. Lastly are simple incendiary arrows, that light things on fire. The drawback is that arrows without special heads are fairly weak as to allow for the special attachments, the regular arrow heads are fairly small.
Semblance: Compression. She can compress the air around her, usually beneath her feet, to give herself increased mobility. For the most part, she uses it for jumping, and it has limited combat usage.
History: The daughter of a rich family that built heavy machinery, she was being raised to take over the company. She was so interested in the work that she was allowed to learn how to build some of the machines herself. This ended up with her becoming very knowledgeable about machines and engineering at a young age, to the point where her parents acknowledged her as a mechanical genius. She wasn't a master, but her aptitude for her age was impressive.
This all came crashing down when her family became a target for the White Fang and her entire family “disappeared.” Despite having relatives left alive elsewhere, she was sent off to be adopted by another family so that she would hopefully be safe, as it was worried that her family was still in danger. After some time passed, she learned more about hunters and huntresses and begged to be sent to an academy, namely Signal as she knew they required students to build their own weapon, something she was certain she could do.
Her life soon revolved around getting better at anything she could that would make her a better huntress. All that mattered was success and improvement and anyone that got in her way was an annoyance. However, she learned that due to her small size, regular combat wasn’t for her. In fact, she was bad at it. So instead she began planning to construct an almost purely ranged weapon and came up with what she would eventually name “Ratchet Hydra,” a huge bow. She held herself back a year, until she was satisfied with the weapon and her own skills, though she was upset that she felt she had needed to do so.
She just had two problems. She was in her own little world and her frustration with herself led to her developing an even nastier attitude than she already had. She was all alone, as everyone she’d known from her year had gone off ahead, and no one she met could stand her, except one. She met a boy named Felix and for some reason he didn’t mind her. When she was focused, he was quiet, when she was complaining, it didn’t bother him. And yet before long she hated him. Instead of being someone to keep her company, he was someone who outdid her at almost everything despite being a year behind. He couldn’t quite match her engineering skills, but he was good, and he hadn’t even had the advantage of growing up with it like she had. He was a better fighter too. In the end, her jealousy tore the friendship apart almost as soon as it had begun.
When the year ended, she almost felt worse. A mixture of guilt for pushing away Felix and frustration for feeling like she hadn’t improved enough plagued her. However, she graduated anyway, refusing to let anyone else get ahead of her ever again. She was headed for Beacon.
Name: Amalger Brandt
Age: 17
Gender: M
Race: Human
Weight: 145
Height: 6'
Appearance: He has a thin face with pronounced cheekbones, and he wears his, black, hair to one side, with the other side of his head shaved. He is tall and lanky, and has a rather rebellious “punkish” appearance. His eyes are green. He wears a dull green sleeveless vest and black pants, and has an oversized pauldron on his left shoulder for armor.
Personality: Calm, quiet, but not too serious. He's laid back to the point where he almost seems indifferent to most things. However, he's fairly friendly, even if he doesn't seem to get excited about... anything.
Likes: Helping people who are injured, loud noises (ironically), and sleeping.
Dislikes: Being around other people who are too quiet, cocky people, people with no humor.
Strengths: Close range combat, explosives, can deal with larger opponents, has some knowledge of medicine.
Weaknesses: Very little long range ability, can't move or attack very quickly.
Weapon(s): Explosive Hammer-Sword, “Jack-Cannon” – On his right arm he has an arm bracer with a tube containing 8 explosive pucks. These can be attached to the front or back of his main weapon, or thrown. On his left arm is his main weapon, a bladed pile-driver-like weapon that can be used to impale, smash, can be turned into an explosive gauntlet, or lastly can explosively launch the blade as a projectile. He carries five replacement blades on his back, and two reloads for his pucks on his lower back.
Semblance: Repulse - A field of energy forms around his body that bounces things back. Doesn't always work against things that move very fast, like bullets.
History: The son of an accomplished hunter and huntress, he went to a smaller academy known as Flare. It was a special academy that tried to collect especially "gifted" students. Despite this, at Flare Academy, Amalger was deemed average at best. He just didn't seem to put in much effort, though he always did just enough to meet Flare's standards. This was because he was secretly resentful for being forced into Flare by his parents. He wanted to be a hunter, but it felt like he was being forced to go about it a certain way.
He was nearly expelled when he built his weapon, as it seemed horribly impractical and totally lacking in elegance. However, he was completely unstoppable in sparring events and passed every test he was given -- it was the one time he ever proved himself to be exceptional in any way. In fact, not only was he exceptional, he was bar none the most accomplished student Flare had seen in the last decade.
He'd also taken things one step further. Along with all the basic hunter skills, he'd chosen to simultaneously walk a second path, as a healer. His grandfather had been a doctor, and so inspire by that, Amalger had begun to learn about medicine in his spare time.
In short, the genius rebel was slated for Beacon academy.
Name: Randy Riley
Age: 17
Gender: F
Race: Human
Weight: 125
Height: 5’9.5”
Appearance:
She has curly, medium length red-orange hair, and is fairly tall, standing about the same height as most boys her age. While she has potential to come off otherwise, she generally appears to be a fairly plain girl. Because of her armor, she wears a tight fitting red bodysuit, with gold trim. This matches the color scheme of her armor. Her armor is focused in six areas: large plates on her shoulders and upper arms, her chest, her back, her hips, her shins, and her head. The back, chest, and her head are all connected, with the back armor running up the back of her neck and covering the back of her head, but leaving her face and the top of her head exposed.
Personality: She is a confident and straightforward person, but with a playful side hiding just underneath. It takes a lot to rattle her and carefully chooses when she needs to be serious, and when she can let her guard down and relax.
Likes: Running and other athletics, high places, candy
Dislikes: Slackers, liars, spicy food of any kind.
Strengths: Medium range combat, can handle multiple enemies, strong defense.
Weaknesses: Has no exceptional long range or short range capabilities.
Weapon(s): Auto-Cannon gauntlets and armor, “Hazard Cutters” – Two, bladed gauntlets that entirely cover her hands and wrists. They can each split apart to reveal dual auto-cannons. The bracers can attach to each other to form a large, quad-barrel anti-aircraft style gun. When the blades are split apart, they can also function like scissors to cut and crush anything they grab. They also have an under barrel launcher for utility purposes, such as grappling hooks or a chain bolas.
She also has an armored suit that can shift between two modes. Her armor is focused in six areas: large plates on her shoulders and upper arms, her chest, her back, her hips, her shins, and her head. The back, chest, and her head are all connected, with the back armor running up the back of her neck and covering the back of her head, but leaving her face and the top of her head exposed. This is the first mode that has many of the armored plates pulled back, revealing her face and more of her body. This is usually for when she's not fighting, or not in very heavy combat and gives the appearance that she simply has many oversized, disconnected plates of armor strapped to her. The other mode shifts to a full armored mode for increased protection. In this mode, the armor actually appears to be very formfitting and light, but they cover her joints which restricts her range of motion. The only parts of her left exposed are her nose and mouth.
Semblance: Mass Shift - Can reduce or increase the mass of an object. (Lighter or heavier)
History: She went to signal at the same time as Felix, but never interacted with him or Enyo to any great extent, though she knew of them. Before that, her life was exceedingly plain, being the daughter of two shopkeepers who ran a family business. In fact, she knew very little about the Grim or hunters and huntresses for much of her childhood. It was not until her favorite cousin told her a story that her life shifted gears.
She had been in a sort of limbo with no direction for a long time. At her first school, when the teachers asked what she wanted to do when she grew up she just smiled and shrugged. She'd been a happy, carefree child, certain that her parents would always be around and eventually decided she'd just work with them when she grew up. That was when the story came in. Her cousin lived in a town outside of the City of Vale. This town was far less secure than the main city and on occasion Grim made their way in. However, hunters and huntresses kept the town safe and casualties were rare. It was one time when Grim made it farther in than usual and Randy's cousin and her family were nearly killed, but one huntress was able to make it in time, saving her cousin's family single-handedly.
This story suddenly inspired Randy to steer her life in a different direction. She finally had a goal to aim for. There was just one problem... she was absolutely terrible at everything. She couldn't master her aura, she had no idea what her semblance was, and she lost every fight she got into. This persisted two years into her time at Signal. It was to the point that many teachers were subtly trying to convince her to give up, fearing she would die the second she got into a real fight.
She took drastic measures. She gave up on attending classes or getting good grades. She studied one thing at a time until she got better at it. She practically kidnapped her classmates that were doing better than her and made them help her, and she would find teachers when they were on break and interrogate them about whatever subject she was currently fixated on. However, she was on the verge of technically failing the academy by the end of her third year. At the last second, the vice principle of the school stepped in, seeing what she'd been up to. He said that he would give her a chance and let her pass the year, and that she would need to pass a series of tests he would put together for her. If she could do it, she would graduate with everyone else. Apparently her initiative and dedication had impressed him.
When the tests came, she struggled with some of the more academic subjects, but managed to scrape by. However, on the practical assessments she proved above average, though still below the top of her class. But she'd done it, she was finally ready for Beacon.
Name:
Aurelia Persinette
Age:
17
Gender:
Female
Race:
Human
Appearance:
Odette is a girl who is most notable for her very long, neatly braided golden hair--it sweeps around her knees. She is of average height around five feet and six inches, weighing in at about one hundred twenty five pounds. Her skin is somewhat pale, her facial features mostly small and round, including large, violet-hued eyes. She has a modest bust and waist, though boasts long legs. As a modest girl, she wears a long, purple dress, sleeveless with ruffles lining the top. The corset is decorated with several purple flowers that match the ones in her hair, and she wears matching wristbands. Her dress stops around her ankles and is made of a light material that flows, and she wears a pair of short, silver boots with heels.
Personality:
A somewhat timid, reserved young lady, Odette comes off as someone who is very quiet most of the time, especially around people she doesn't know. She'l be happily chatting to a friend one minute, then completely mute the next once someone new shows up. She's more the type of person to follow then lead and makes sure to follow directions properly. She seems slightly spacey at times, and tends to take sarcasm completely seriously (and often misses jokes, as well). When she does open up and is in her comfort zone, she is very cheerful, always having a smile on her face. She is gentle in nearly every aspect, whether it be her soft voice and her light and airy mannerisms. Despite her quiet nature, she will speak up when seeing others act maliciously, especially bullies, and won't tolerate any racism of any kind, either. In battle she is not nearly as shy, taking every fight very seriously and striving to always improve herself. She is fascinated by weaponry as well, always eager to find their inner workings and uses.
Likes:
Music, quiet days in the library, paper folding, battles for fun, weapons
Dislikes:
Strangers, cheaters, bullies, people who play/fight unfairly, overly loud noises, people who talk too much, unneeded violence
Strengths:
Long range fighting, vast knowledge of spells, quick to act, excellent healer
Weaknesses:
Relies on others for decision making, quick to lose focus and get distracted, opponents who act quicker then her casting, can't take too many hits
Weapon:
Her primary weapon is one she calls "Rampion". She uses it mainly to channel her spells, its head filled with Dust, as well as being heavy enough to whack people around with. When in need of more power, its head with warp and transform into something resembling a cannon of sorts, Dust firing off in bursts.
Semblance:
"Efficiency" -- Odette is able to manipulate the way her body expends energy. As a result, she can endure longer in battle then most people. She doesn't require as much nourishment or sleep, either, though when she does finally crash it takes a lot longer for her to recover. This also extends to her usage of Dust: she uses less Dust for her spells, and is able to fire off much more then the average person.
History:
Odette was born into a family of much wealth, and she was loved very dearly by her family. She was spoiled beyond reason, showered with gifts nearly every day, her mother and father loving, and she was happy. She did remember, however, that one day, suddenly everything changed. The happy childhood became one of much fighting and arguments. Her family became distant, her mother and father moreso, and it killed her to see everyone act that way. She knew it was somehow her fault--she could never forget the way her family members would glare at her, throwing her nasty looks, how her father's loving look turned to one made of pure sadness, though no one ever bothered to tell her why. And so she got her own little shell and stayed in it for as long as she could. It was not until her mother died that the fighting stopped, but now she felt a deep, painful sadness instead. She did not understand why anything had happened, and as frustrating as it was, there was nothing she could do. And so she just accepted it.
The so called ray of sunshine was that now her father was like the way he used to be--kind, loving, and slightly smothering, though she loved it. He was back to normal...but she could never go back to the way she was. He understood, gently pulling her out of her shell, having the patience of a saint when she hid. While this was equally as confusing, it was easier to adapt to. Her father raised her the best he could, though sometimes when he thought she wasn't looking, he would have an expression of regret, but she never got the courage to ask him what was wrong.
Years down the road, Odette discovered Dust, often looking towards the stores the same way most kids would look at candy stores. Her father got the hint and started practicing with her, showing her how to use it properly and warning her of the dangers. She then asked him what Dust was really used for, and he explained that Dust was what Hunters would use to fight off the Grim. She remembered perking up at the story, After much pleading, tears, and a very reluctant father's blessing, Odette enrolled into Sanctum Academy. Fighting was an alleviating experience. It was actually a little scary how free she felt in battle, but it was with pride that she found her calling as well as developed her own style. After much studying, many bruises, the discovery of weaponry and the delights of battle, she was accepted into Beacon, more then ready and willing to become a Huntress.
Persinette Family History--The Truth Behind Odette's Childhood
-
The family of Rampion were once well known in weapon manufacturing, only to fail when they were exposed to use Faunus slave labor. With their wealth quickly declining, they became desperate to keep their money. And so the family of Persinette came forward, offering them wealth, in exchange for closing down their company and to give their eldest daughter, a woman of astounding beauty by the name of Angelique, to the Persinette's eldest son, a young man with no ambition named Dominic, in marriage. The two were wed and locked into an unloving relationship, as Angelique resented being used by her family. Still, they were expected to continue the family line, and so Odette was born, and she was doted on by all.
That isn't to say she fixed their relationship, as Dominic grew suspicious as Odette got older. You see, both Angelique and Dominic were dark haired and dark eyed, and yet Odette had blonde hair and violet eyes. He refused to believe that Odette was his daughter, and the two families got into a feud that would become common gossip. Unfortunately, this extended to the young girl; what once was a cheerful, happy child became very enclosed and afraid of nearly everyone. She would often hide wherever she could and not speak to anyone for days, afraid of getting yelled at and blamed for something she couldn't control.
For many years this continued, and one day, Angelique grew very ill. On her deathbed, she begged him to stop the fighting between the families, regretting that she let it continue for so long. It was here Dominic asked if Odette was really his daughter, and he was heartbroken when she would not respond. She admitted to having an affair shortly after they were married. Still, she asked that he take care of Odette, as once she was dead no one would take care of her. Angelique died shortly after that, and despite a lingering anger, made sure to try to go with her words. Despite her wishes, the two families shunned one another, and after Angelique's death, they never spoke or acknowledged one another ever again. While he failed at that, he made sure he wouldn't make the same mistake with Odette--even if she wasn't his blood, he admitted that she was the last person he truly loved.
Name: Abel “Azure” Fulgurate
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Faunus
Appearance:
Picture
Seventeen years old and decently muscular, Abel has average, common features crowned by curly auburn hair and lined with stubble. A striped, collared brown shirt lies beneath a hooded blue-and-black plaid jacket, while black rubber gloves protect his hands from backlash from his semblance. He wears rather billowy, brown, sporty longshorts and black boots. A thick, musty-brown leather belt holds up a dark blue wraparound. His Eel Faunus heritage is hidden beneath his clothing; the skin on his chest and back is a nasty-looking green in places, and he has small fins on his spine and forearms. He does have gills on his neck, but they are difficult to see.
Personality: Abel is proud and gruff, very serious and totally without humor. For someone who appreciates the creativity and technique of both weapons and battle so thoroughly, he ironically is without creativity. Instead, he tend to go about his business by the book, a principled young man of habit and routine with little to no capability to think outside the box. While he is dependable, he is not flexible, and can respond to bullying, injustice, or even plain teasing with sudden anger. While not antisocial, he sticks with only a few friends at any given time, concentrating on strong bonds rather than many bonds. He loathes popular culture and those who overtly subscribe to it. Generally, he likes to settle into routine and doesn't often react well to big changes. The Grimm mask he carries makes him upset and angry, more at himself than anything else, but as it reminds him of his brother he cannot let it go. Though he is reluctant to use it, he believes that wearing the mask improves his combat abilities. This is pretty much just placebo effect.
Likes: Respect, competence, fighting, weapons, technology, history, going really fast, sportsmanship
Dislikes: Popular culture, the Grimm, bullies, criminals, people who try to be funny, big egos, thunderstorms
Strengths: Skilled battler / Good at multitasking / Can take a lot of punishment / Reliable / Can breath underwater
Weaknesses: A follower, not a leader / prefers to do rather than think / quick temper / Semblance is useless when not using his weapon
Weapon(s): The Ampere, a unique polearm with a wide, flat blade rather than a spearhead along with a black iron pole. It has both range and lethality, keeping most melee fighters at a range safe for Abel but devastating to them with a tempered steel point, as well as channeling Abel's natural aura far better than he can do by himself. The Ampere has a single alternate mode that splits the wide blade into four parts and reverses their direction, creating a vaguely mace shape. In this mode, the Ampere can release bolts of lightening that travel impressive distances instantly. An important thing to note is that this weapon doesn't use Dust; it utilizes Abel's semblance.
Semblance: Called 'Surge', Abel's semblance allows him to project electricity that can manipulate the Ampere at short range without touching it and summon it back to his hand when disarmed, as well as channel electricity to shock anything the weapon touches. By using Surge to rotate his staff quickly at very close range, he can create a sort of shield. Surge is practically useless when not used in conjunction with the Ampere.
History: For generations Abel's family had been living on the edge of civilization. Tracing ancestors back to the original war, this lineage served as guardsmen, men and women alike, manning the perimeter of Vale and with vigilance and fortitude to keep the kingdom safe from the monstrous creatures of Grimm that would have gladly torn it asunder. By shielding the kingdom of man from the dark storm, however, both the defenders and the defended were preserved. It was into this family Abel was born. Though not impoverished, Abel's upbringing was basic and bleak. Readily he accepted the mantle of the warrior, but he had a great deal to live up to; the Fulgurate family line had steadfastly played its part in protection of Vale for a long time without losing a single member. A perfect record that now fell to Abel to be upheld.
After so many years of peace, however, the darkness rose again. When Abel was only ten, the section of the wall under his family's jurisdiction came under attack by a massive influx of monsters. On one tempestuous night in particular the Grimm made their devastating assault. Both he and his older brother, though too young to really fight, stood by their parents and three uncles as Nevermores rained feathers from the sky, Death Stalkers fractures the falls with their stingers, and King Tajitsus slithered up and over it. That night the famous Fulgurate perfect record was broken. Though the elder guardians held their own against the invaders with strength and determination, Abel's older brother insisted on fighting. When a Beowolf reached the top of the wall and leaped onto the catwalk, the brother was ready for it. Using a polearm to keep himself at distance, he fought the Beowolf and succeeded in impaling it. As the monster bled it last, however, the storm intensified, and a black shape crawled over the wall that hid in the shadows. Abel tried to warn his sibling but it mattered not, and Kane Fulgurate was cut down.
Then, the unknown monster turned for Abel, hiding a dozen yards away behind a stone pillar. Terrified, angry, and distraught, Abel decided to go down fighting. Armed only with a long fireplace poker he found nearby, he ran at the Grimm creature screaming and crying. As the obsidian claws raked across his chest, Abel's Aura was suddenly unlocked, and an electric charge pushed the monster away. Abel charged again, waving his metal pole, and a bolt of lightening fell from the sky onto him. Rather than burn and die, however, Abel miraculously channeled the energy to electrocute his assailant and kill it. In the aftermath of the fight there was much mourning, and Abel expressed the desire to train as an elite Hunter and learn how to better fight the Grimm. As such, he attended Signal Academy, and when he applied to Beacon he was accepted after passing the entrance exam.

List of Player Characters:
Name: Felix Ancel Launce
Age: 17
Gender: M
Race: Human
Weight: 145
Height: 5’11”
Appearance:
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
He wears a long-sleeved gray shirt with extra padding over the elbows, though no real armor. He wears a sturdy, but rough, brown leather vest over it. Across his chest is a thick, leather belt with a large, metal buckle over his heart. The buckle is engraved with the same emblem as his weapon [see below]. His pants match his shirt, again having extra padding over his knees. The outfit is completed by black boots with steel plates over his toes, the only sign of any armor, unless one counts the belt buckle.
Personality: He is very quiet, and isn’t good at talking to people, being both shy and nervous. However, when he has his weapon in his hand, he changes completely and finds his courage and ability to speak without stuttering. Otherwise, he is rather kind and protective, though he has a tendency to fail to show this at the right time and he almost never speaks up in his own defense.
Likes: Quiet, music, training.
Dislikes: Any kind of bullying, stealing, feeling trapped, confined spaces, being unarmed, large crowds.
Strengths: Is extremely focused and fearless in combat as long as he has his weapon.
Weaknesses: Has crippling anxiety and is socially awkward, can’t focus without his weapon at hand.
History: When he was a child, his father left him and his mother. They lived in a bad neighborhood, and it wasn’t long before robbers broke into their house. Without his father, there was no one who had a hope of stopping them. His mother hid him in a closet just as they broke into her bedroom, and he watched as they beat her and demanded to know where she kept anything of value.
As the violence escalated, it seemed they would kill his mother. Even with a gun to her head, she sword they had nothing, and it was the truth, but the man didn’t believe her. In the closet, Felix found an old knife and in desperation burst out and surprised the man from behind. When the robber’s partner ran into the room, Felix was in a state of shock from what he’d done, but was saved when his mother took the dead man’s gun and shot the second man.
Felix was heavily traumatized by what had happened, and developed a strange complex. The only time he was responsive was when he had the knife he’d used in his hands. He never felt safe without it. To him, the knife was the reason he and his mother were alive, and without it he felt he could be killed at any moment.
Knowing his father, though absent, had been a hunter, his mother tried something after all forms of therapy failed. She enrolled him in Signal academy where he could learn to be a hunter. She knew that at least in this way, he’d always have a weapon to keep him sane, and hopefully learning to fight would restore his courage until he could live without a weapon constantly in his hand.
While his anxiety never faded, he was good at anything combat related. It also turned out he had a knack for engineering, as with limited help, he designed and built a relatively unique weapon, a shot-voulge that he named Fin de Larmes, (End of Tears). He called it such as when he held it, he felt more secure than he had in years. He also designed a simple gauntlet for his offhand which helped him to channel his semblance.
Weapon: Double-barrel, over-under shot-voulge,“Fin de Larmes” (End of Tears). A unique design based on an old concept, it is a magazine fed, twin-trigger, over-under, double barrel shotgun with a massive bayonet attached to the bottom barrel. It extends into a voulge (a type of spear), while retaining the ability to shoot. In the extended form, the top sight functions as a hook, and the top trigger activates explosive charges in the stock that gives an extra punch for stabbing attacks.
For his left hand he has a (compared to most weapons) simple, clawed gauntlet. It has no special functions, except that it can retract onto his wrist to reveal his hand when he’s not in combat, and helps him to channel his semblance and mark targets.
Semblance: Hunter’s Mark. Magically marks anything he touches, letting him sense its exact location at all times. Can only mark about three things, and has a limited range of barely a quarter mile, so it isn’t especially useful for long distance tracking. He can then charge his weapon, and if he strikes the mark, it will cut deeper. He can’t charge projectiles however.

Name: Nevin Theros
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Weight: 140lb
Height: 5'8”
Appearance: Wears white gloves at all times, has medium height and build. Doesn't look to be the strongest, but he's fit. Wears glasses.
Personality: Calm and collected, he doesn't usually let his emotions get the better of him. He tries to make an informed decision at all times and weighs the pros and cons of every situation. Despite that, he has a kind heart, not particularly caring for violence if there is another way out of a situation.
Likes: Peace, community, teamwork
Dislikes: Chaos, conflict
Strengths: Intellect, strategy, can fight adequately without weapons, born leader
Weaknesses: Too trusting at first, takes too much onto himself at times
Weapons: His first line of offense are his fists, both imbued with a special glyph each over the gloves he wears. The one on his right is imbued with red dust, aptly named Inferno, while the left is imbued with yellow, named Flash. It creates an effect of fire and lightning. His primary weapon, though, is his two swords at his sides, Unes and Duo. Each has a slot to place a crystallized version of dust into, giving each a special effect.
Semblance: Synergy – It works as a battle aura, allowing others to work together much better than they would previously. It basically synchronizes each individual to work as a collective whole rather than separate people of a group. This can apply to weaponry as well, figuring out rather quickly what is the best way to use certain items in battle effectively when thrown together.
History: At a young age, Nevin was trained by his father. His father had high hopes for him, being the only son of the family, to become a powerful Hunter and help the rest of the world. So, he was trained in both swordplay and in hand-to-hand combat. He learned rather quickly, but his father wasn't the main drive he held. His sister also played a big part. She was a huntress. She was the reason he knew the real terrors of the world before even being enrolled in an academy. She had a talent for magic, but her specialty was in small glyphs she could use for traps or to boost equipment with special abilities.
That was his first introduction to magic. Unfortunately, he had no talent for it. He did, however, gain the knowledge of it, having a fair idea of how it works, in concept. He just failed to actually produce results. In the end, all he got out of his training was a good hand-to-hand combat potential and excellent sword skills. That wasn't his talent, though. It was discovered that, while he was good at fighting, he was better at strategy. He could plan a fight better than he could actually fight it.
This training went on for most of his life, until he came of age to enter one of the academies to be trained as a Hunter. Along with that, having a sister as a mage had its benefits. Before he left, he was gifted with two gloves, each with a glyph etched into it to help his fighting, as well as a small number of gems, made from dust, to be used alongside his swords. The swords were both given to him by his father, passed down in his family.
As he came of age and received these gifts, he enrolled into the academy, Flare.
Once there, he quickly rose up the ranks to the top of his class. This, however, wasn't to last as he was overtaken by a fellow student, Amalger. The boy rose just as quickly and had overtaken Nivan. Unfortunately, Nivan didn't really care. He figured second best was just as good and never put in any extra effort. He didn't seem to ever really try during the course of his time there. In the end, he never really got to have a bout with this other boy that had overtaken his position. He didn't entirely care, either. The only time his interest had been piqued was when Amalger had almost been expelled for creating his own weapon. While it didn't exactly bring out anything new from the boy, it had gotten his attention.
As the years passed, a day before his birthday, he had been slated to head off to the next step on becoming a hunter. Beacon Academy. As things turned out, he heard Amalger was heading there too. If nothing else, he was sure this next year was going to be interesting.

Name: Gwyneira Grisial
Nicknames: Gwyn, Eira, Gigi
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Race: Faunus
Appearance: Short in stature, she barely reaches five feet in height which causes her weapon to tower over her by a foot in its full length. Gwyneira has a beige, heart shaped face sepulchered in colorless locks. Choppy bangs halt just above two spheres of amber. Cream fur covers two lamb ears on either side of her visage, and is soft like downy. Unlike some Faunus, Gwyneira does not have a second set of ears. She is not ashamed of her race and does little to hide what she is. Stifling her hearing also seems like it would only hinder her as a Huntress. Bronze twin horns spiral from the top of her head and around her ears.
In her battle attire, she wears simple flat soled boots that are cobalt toned. Ivory leggings are adorned underneath with a battle skirt adorned over accompanied by a matching vest with her tail poking out of the back of it. The color of her clothing is just a shade lighter than her boots with a shirt that matches her leggings in color. The vest is clasped shut with a button shaped like the chakram of her weapon and the design can also be seen embroidered on her back.
Personality: Easily distracted unless something interests her, but has incredible resolve and focus when she puts her mind to something. She is thick skinned when others try to rattle her, but is quick to anger when it comes to those she cares. She is usually unabashed and isn't afraid to speak her mind, sometimes overstepping her bounds when she should be silent and obedient. This has resulted in her seeming almost intimidating at times when she is typically effervescent and amiable.
Likes: Games, challenges, making friends.
Dislikes: Bullying, hiding that she is a Faunus, people who don't know how to have fun, people who are judgmental or manipulative.
Strengths: Able to shift between close range and far range in combat, quick learner,
Weaknesses: Her field of vision limits her Semblance, not always as cooperative as she should be.
Weapon: Gwyneira's weapon of choice is initially similar to a halberd. “Rhewlif” features a large chakram with two crescent shaped axe blades on either side of the weapon. The tip of the weapon is affixed with a dagger like blade. The pole adjusts in length, folding together. The length varies between three feet and six feet. The pommel of the weapon has a lid that is opened to feed Dust inside of with properties akin to frost.
A meter and a dial are used to accommodate the distance between herself and her target. The former works similar to a gas gauge and allows her to quickly see how much Dust her weapon has in reserves. The dial allows her to adjust how long her weapon is and allows her to power the axe blade to serve as a boomerang. Moreover, Gwyneira can wield the chakram alone by adjusting the dial on her weapon.
Semblance: Dichotomy – This ability allows Gwyneira to completely replicate a second object. She is able to use the ability in quick succession, but the object must first be in a direct line of site. The number of items she is able to multiply is limited by the properties of the object she is replicating. Larger objects and objects with a higher density use up more of her aura. Fast projectiles, such as bullets, that move too quick for her to see are near impossible for her to create more than one of. Additionally, the behavior of the object or person that she copies can be controlled by her.
People clones created by her would immediately dissipate and vanish, and not be able to deal damage in the same way objects could.
The ability comes with consequences where size, density, and number of clones would require different amounts of aura and focus. If she were to control the puppets, it would require her attention to be alerted to them. Essentially her manipulating them would make it more difficult for her to fight in battle, possibly to the point that she wouldn't be able to physically defend herself against an assault without getting rid of the clones.
History: Throughout the majority of her life, Gwyneira was raised within a clan of other Faunus. Her parents told her stories about how Humans and Faunus didn't always see eye to eye, and often let their differences get in the way. However, she was naive and chose discard the idea of disharmony between the two races.
Initially having little interest in the Hunters, she attended Signal academy with her childhood friend because she didn't want to be left behind. Through attending Signal, she was subject to bullying by some of the other Humans who treated her like she didn't belong. Her childhood friend denied any instances of bullying on his part which encouraged her to work harder until she was one of the top students in her class. Still, the bullying by the other Humans continued. Her friend dropped out of Signal Academy, refusing to tell her the details of his decision.
Gwyneira chose to persist and applied to Beacon, taking with her a stronger personality that sometimes seems a little excessive.
