Bane shrugged and said "Who cares why we have it, I think its cool we have it" He leaned back and put his arms behind his head. "I heard some of the council members before...turns out Megumi's father wasn't her birth father...do you think she knows?"

James cringed lightly. "I don't know. But that can't be good to find out. It was already bad that she saw her dad die in front of her, but to find out she's not even really related to him on top of that...?"

[MegaraFoxfire]

Bane nodded and said "Maybe we see if she knew before we tell her...she needs to know but not today...she's not doing well with this is she? I mean...she was getting help to save her village...but we know it was to save her father"

Megumi was dishing up food when she saw a picture of her father and her when she was young hanging on the wall. She stopped, staring at it. "Father..."

James shrugged. "Meh. Whatever the reason was, I'm just glad we could help somehow, even though her personal reasons for the mission weren't successful. If we had shown up any later though then there would have been many more casualties." At that moment, a large spider appeared beside him. He turned and looked at it, as it spoke up. "The Hokage sent me to check up on you two." James let out a sigh. "Paranoid old bastard..." He looked at Bane. "I'll write up the report, you just finish writing up that request for an A-Rank mission."

Bane nodded and waved at the spider. "hey buddy, how's it hanging?" He smiled and added "We are fine, but don't run away just yet, I have a request for you to take to Dad..." He looked at James and said "You better check on Megumi while you write that report"

James nodded, before leaving the room to check on Megumi, while the spider decided to be lazy and take a nap, curling its legs against itself like most spiders do when they're asleep.

Bane shook his head and said "Old man and his spiders..."

MEgumi was sitting on the arm rest od one of the chairs, holding the picture in her hands. She had fresh tears in her eyes, a couple sliding down and hitting the glass of the photo

James sighed as he saw her, then walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder in a comforting gesture. "Hey...do you want to talk about it...? It might help a little..."

She sighed, wiping her eyes as she said "he was all I had James...I mean...he raised me..." She sighed again and said "I have no one in the world left to call family..."

James frowned, then reached over and grabbed her hand to comfort her. "Hey...he may not be with you physically, but I'm sure he's watching over you from a better place..."

She looked at him and said "James...he was my father...the only blood I had...even if I wasn't sure he was my real father...I have no ties anywhere now. What am I suppose to do after I kill the man who sent those men to my home"

James let out a sigh. "I know how you feel...I had the same line of thought you have now...but in my opinion, I think he's already proud of you. He probably wouldn't have wanted you to go and get revenge in the first place. It'll just make you feel even emptier after you do get it..."

She looked up at him then stood. "I'm getting revenge for his murder. You won't stop me from that goal. They must pay for what they did..." She put the picture down and walked away into the kitchen. She started finishing up lunch, tears running down her face.

James sighed before his spider summon appeared beside him. "Oh hey. Got a response from the Hokage?" The spider simply dropped a scroll in front of him before vanishing, probably to go take a nap again. "Lazy bastard..." he mumbled, picking up the scroll and opening it.

Bane came out, holding his side. "I sent the request with the spider...dad should get back to us...oh, that was fast" He leaned against the back of the couch and said "Megumi doing alright?" Megumi walked out and put a plate on the table. "Lunch is ready...you guys go ahead and eat...I'm not hungry..." She turned away and walked down the hallway, her head down .

James sighed. "She's taking his death really hard." He tossed Bane the scroll with the response. "Here. It's in that stupid code you two use when you send messages back and forth. I don't know why the hell you still use it when I just send and receive scrolls with my summons."

Bane smiled and said while he opened it "Dad likes to know I still know it. Its a father son thing" He read it thru then said "Well, Dad must be in a good mood. He gave us the okay to go and to even tell Megumi that if she needs a new home that the village would welcome her. That's surprising" He rolled the scroll back up then looked after where Megumi went. "Do you think she knows that her father wasn't her birth father?"

"She does suspect something but I don't think she knows for sure. We'll probably have to tell her after we tell her about the better news.'

Bane nodded and said "Agreed. But she does need to eat something. She has hardly eaten since we left the village."

Megumi walked outside, sitting in the zen garden her father had worked so hard to grow and nurture. She looked around then lowered her head, tears streaming down her face. "I will avenge you father....that I promise...I swear to the gods I will avenge you..."

James sighed. "You go start making dinner for the three of us, since you're the better cook, and I'll go try to cheer her up a little, and tell her the news..." He turned and walked towards the way she left.
