But about what Midnight is getting at. Some people just have a natural hatred in their hearts. You could have never talked to them, and never done a single thing wrong to them, but things may have happened to them in the past that just make it incredibly hard for them to be open with anyone. So they might be inclined to lash out and hurt anyone who pries to hard.

Dad believes it can be fixed, regardless of what it is. And about that I am confident he is right. But there are certain cases where the situation is incredibly delicate.

Things are just barely hanging on, resting in a way that's just barely sustainable. Then, along comes a very slight breeze that it wasn't quite used to...
