Genocide comes from the Latin gens, which means "tribe". Xeno just means a different creature, not necessarily a race of them, so xenocide would just be homicide on one creature of a different race.

When people say murder, I think it's meant killing someone not out of necessity, but out of a want to kill them. Like, killing an enemy? They're the bad guys, so there's a necessity in that. It's just killing. You don't hate them in particular. But murdering a single person that you just don't like? That's murder.
