*Thumbs toward a warehouse a few blocks down*
That's where we want to be. Let's infiltrate it.

Some rinky dink warehouse? I guess it's inconspicuous enough.

Can you write letters to anyone outside of home?

I haven't tried. I've relied on visitations from those I needed to contact.

It looks that way, but feel out how much tech they've got set up. Way too much for some random factory or whatever.

How do the Codex know the difference between something coming in, talking to you, and going out vs. you sending something out?

They don't have to. Their powers run off of what's called the "Not a Number Sector", or the NNS for short. If you think of Existence like... Like a book. If you think of it like a book, that's being written constantly, the Not a Number Sector is like the dictionary. There's the physical book and the words written on it are physical, but they only have meaning because of the NNS. It's why I died in the first place; the original Generate-class needs to be able to delete stuff to run the NNS correctly. So things were pushed in a direction by a certain few Codex to make one of the Triggers "become complete." That happened to end up being me, so I had to go in order to have the "compete" Trigger reinstated in the original Generate. That made it so the NNS wouldn't overload, and made it temporarily possible to go up to the next Scale.
At least that's where they should have went. Apparently it wasn't that simple, but that's unrelated.

Okay, so how does whatever-you-call-it know the difference between something coming in, talking to you, and going out vs. you sending something out?

*The cyber world is too expansive to adequately scan, and two guards appear to be patrolling the building—you also see mappings of security cameras and their fields of view*
So, what do you think?

Because that's where the concepts of things are. Imagine that in the book, the word "blue" was written. We know what blue is, and that blue now exists in the story and physically on the page, right? But now imagine that the definition of the word "blue" was changed to that of "red." Suddenly, everything that was blue is still blue, physically the same, but is defined differently, changing the meaning of what's written. That's how the powers of the Codex work, they change concepts. So in this case, what I believe happened is that the definition of "me" in the dictionary was amended to include the phrase: "Only exists within a certain dimension," to keep with the analogy.

Okay, but that still doesn't change the fact that you can get something out of this place.

It's tight security. Two on patrol outside, but I can loop their camera feed to see the same footage they've been seeing so we don't have to worry about them. I can also disable their communications to the outside if things get out of hand so no one goes calling for help if things go south. I should also be able to jam their weapons. No big deal for you I'm sure, but I don't want to get shot today.

I can't stop bullets, but I can stop a gun from firing them in the first place.
