Well, he did it right, that's for sure, but there's nothing wrong with bringing him back. Also, besides that, there wasn't enough build up to getting rid of him. He didn't give us leeway to be at least somewhat okay with it. In a story I'm reading, there's a group of people accompanying the main character who we all loved very much, but eventually it was hinted at that they would have to be split up so the main character could continue. At first we were extremely adverse to it, but it was slowly built up to the point that when it actually happened, we didn't become murderous toward the author.
