The username is unnecessary, as long as you put something in there; it doesn't check for it. The password is necessary though, and make sure your internet is off, or things could go very poorly. After that, smooth sailing.

Kay. I'll give it a go. Next question: I want to use a certain soundtrack for my outro. I've been waiting for this group to email me back, but they haven't. If the song is copyrighted by them, but I give them full credit and acknowledge that the song is theirs and not mine, I can still use it, right?

No, as long as you don't have any access to the Internet on your laptop. You can turn it on once it opens the software, and gives you the "cannot confirm access code, but you can still use camtasia while we try to confirm the code, blah blah blah."
