None of the characters but Asuna change. Ever. At all. Everything is make-up. Just like how Kirito is a mary-sue and/or literally god, everyone else is just a still image. "I love Kirito but I've been rejected. I'm a _____. Kirito saved me when we _______ because he randomly encountered me. Therefor I love him." That is the depth of the other main characters, including what's-his-name the guy member of the spurned women's club.
