If I would have known that, I'd have said that myself and made the whole thing much simpler.

I just think it would be a lot less financially straining to keep all these people with life sentences in jail if we stopped putting people in jail that shouldn't even be there. Marijuana, for example, is something I feel should not be a crime to possess or smoke. Putting people in jail for tax evasion is counterproductive, and alternative means of punishment should be utilized. There are a number o things that I feel we do wrong when it comes to this.

Kill everyone who does drugs?

In all seriousness though, I'm not for legalization whatsoever. Something has to be done on some level.

The trend tends to be that things become less popular when they are made legal. I feel it would be a greater advance in the war on drugs than continuing to fight with force.

I highly disagree. The states that have legalized it have shown otherwise, and I'm not supportive of allowing people to harm themselves or others. I'm sure Dark will yell "Natural Selection," but people just aren't intelligent enough to be left to their own devices. And because the default nature of humans is evil, they cannot be trusted.

I just don't feel that government should have that much authority over peoples' lives like that. I morally hate drugs, but socially, I only feel it proper that government should not dictate what a person can do.

It might have something to do with whether people under the influence of Marijuana hurt others at a high rate. But I don't know much about it; that's just speculation; I don't know the stats.

Other drugs have that problem, but not marijuana or some others. My biggest concern for marijuana, if any, is that it would affect nationwide work ethic/overall performance in jobs.

And there our views differ. I believe the government should have every right to dictate what a person should do; that's the point of having a government. If it's not corrupt, a moral government should make moral choices. Murder is illegal because it's wrong. As is stealing and torture. Drugs are the same way.

It harms children, damages the lungs, and shrinks portions of the brain. Driving under the influence of marijuana also contributes to deaths and injuries.

Our difference's root lies in what I believe to be wrong. I feel that only capital crimes should be wrong, legally. Murder, theft, rape, assault, and all variations and sub-forms therein. Nothing else. In other words, crimes that affect people other than the guilty party. Drug use does not fall under that category, but what one might do while under the effects of methamphetamine and other drugs are.

The root may also lie in another thing. I myself believe that crimes which hurt our own selves should be illegal, because of a couple of verses in 1 Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." And 1 Corinthians 3:17: "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple."

(Disclaimer: Not trying to convince you; I'm just stating my belief.)

Wrong and right are static, regardless of what the government says. I don't see your point in legalizing wrong in some cases, but not in others, nor do I see how you can clearly define what does and doesn't affect others.

I know. That's why I say that I agree with you morally. I just think it is also immoral to force people to live lifestyles based on a religion a lot of people don't believe in. I feel that if God doesn't force us to believe, then why should we? I feel it's kind of putting ourselves on a higher pedestal.

If you ask me, I'd say to either offer no disclaimer or offer no biblical references. Stand strong in one belief or another.

No hype.

I don't see it as immoral. I can see either absolute law or no law, for there is nothing else to base it on.

If the person wants to hurt themselves, then it's up to us to try to help, not force our help upon them.

Legal wrong and right and moral wrong and right are two different things. Legal wrong and right is forever changing, but moral, as you say, is static. And as far as legal wrong and right go, I feel that if you did not hurt someone or damage/take their property, then it shouldn't be against the law.

In the same boat, moral wrong and right are not dictated by the government, you're right. But legal right is at the government's discretion.
