They are, but they can still interact with everyone, and nobody other than Maddie and Tempo knows. Consider it having one foot in reality and the other in the simulation. Rythian also has nothing to do with it.

He also distrusts everyone, for good reason. Except Dane, for some reason he trusts him, and I stand with it because for some reason it makes some sort of sense.
