Here is how I see it. I relate my chars and situations to the reality that I am exposed to. I understand you have failsafes....but not everything can be truly failsafe. I have gone through too much to know that. No matter how cautious, how smart you are, how strong you are. There is always a chance that you will die....Or that someone better than you will defeat you. Always. I may hate it very greatly, but if I something that should kill my char no matter how good they are. If there isn't a way that they could possibly slip out...they must die.

Your chances of dying increase exponentially whenever you drive a car. Yet at the same time, you're still alive and don't avoid driving. But you don't go to the top of buildings and hang off of them. In the same way, characters are capable of dying at any time, but the chances are really low as long as they don't specifically go into something they can't leave alive.
