A lot of little things add up. The superficiality of these ceremonies really bothers me; I'm wasting my time in meaningless "celebrations" when I could be doing something productive with the time that brings me closer to death.

If you dont celebrate the past, then your accomplishments would mean nothing. All the work you are doing simply just exists at that point. Birthdays wouldn't be celebrated, history would not be written, as it is, anyways.

Are accomplishments meaningful? Rhetorical question, but I spend my life working toward the next goal; I don't have time to revel in the accomplishments I've already done because they won't help me accomplish future goals. I only have so much time in this world and must get done as much as humanly possible in that time to the greatest effectiveness available. When an accomplishment is over, it's done. That means there is more to do and something else I could be doing.

I'm not here to evaluate your approach. I have mine, and I have theories for what ways are most effective. Life is in some ways a perpetual human experiment to determine the truth of human nature. I may evaluate your choices, but how you go about life, I generally won't get too involved with.

Season is determined by trauma and I've had much more than my years betray. I'm allowed to pine for lost youth.

The present is the only thing that exists. It's not for the sake of the future, that thinking will lead to nothingness, because the future never comes. You will never be in the future, you will always solely be in the present.

I believe that the general point of a graduation is to celebrate the accomplishments you've made, not the past, per say. Is it not?

Youth is a matter of physical existence. How you think can define your age, but you are youthful.

I'm aware, but that is part of why I adopt that mindset. I am never content with where I am because I have never arrived. It assures that I will never reach the point in my life where I have reached the destination. Everything is a means to an end that will never come.

Past accomplishments. The celebration itself may be more effective if it were, say, fun. That would relieve stress and prepare the brain for another task. But sitting still in a room for hours on end does not accomplish anything worthwhile.
