Although you have used the "damnation" contraction, which counts as swearing before.

I don't really agree with that.

Neither do I. I don't want to become that way either, and I know I won't, but they believe otherwise.

Like I said, the more your parents look into your life, the worse it gets.

It's the parents that know best, not us. It doesn't get worse when they're following God's standards. And I accept a punishment when it follows God's standards too. But this is the only one I haven't been able to understand.
Etcetera said
Maybe you think that, but I certainly know what's best for myself in most cases as opposed to my parents, and they recognize that. I can make my own judgements.

Proverbs 1:8 - "Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching."Parents are our authority. We are to learn from our parents. They know best, period, as long as they are following God's standards. It's wrong to think that you can know better for yourself than your parents. It just shouldn't be done. I don't mean any offence.

No, it says to listen. I listen to my parents, I respect them, and I do what they say if it is logical, but nowhere in the Bible does it say that I can't know better than my parents. They are wiser than me, yes, but logically, I'm above them, and they know it. Don't be a sheep; think for yourself. I question everything. My mom hates it, and my dad understands it. But there's nothing wrong with being self aware.

To "Honour your father and mother" includes honouring their judgement. It's very clear in that respect. "Children, obey your parents, for this is good in the eyes of the Lord."
Legend said
Honoring them is far different from knowing better than them. They know that I'm smarter than they are, and it works because they know it. I get a lot of free reign. I do honor them, but I know better for myself than they do. Simply because they're older doesn't change anything.
