Usually the moment I figure it out I wake up. However, back when I was little I would have these scary dreams, and when I tried to scream in them, I couldn't. I always figured out it was a dream the moment it happened, and then I blinked repeatedly to wake up. In retrospect I probably could have done a lot more with the will.
