Imagine my arm is a timeline.
And at the beginning of my arm is the start of defined time
Where the only beings were dinos and flying mites.
Now.
50,000 years later, where beings are now civilized
The smoke age, we could say, there's practically no ice.
And then there were these people, call them Americans
And they were controlled by the fat king of Great Britian.
But they wanted to be free, that's what they realized.
So then they went and made a country, and it was all...fine?

Now, let us not go into that story.
Now, millions of years later, on my hand
There are now futuristic objects
Since with Moore's law, we get better man-mades.
And while computers can get better and better due to Moore's law
They will soon surpass the capabilites of right now
To the extent of computers being able to make a computerized world.
The Matrix.

Now, get this.
How do we know if we are in the middle, living life to the future
Or millions of years later, trying to live an interesting life in a computer.
Maybe there was a program, making us start over
Making up history, putting futuristic objects in the middle
Maybe we didn't even have these objects in the smoke age in the first run
Maybe for the second run, in the computerized world, they put some objects to help us evolve again.
So we may be in a computerized run of humanity.

Moore's law was a prediction, yes
So maybe this is all fictional
Or maybe Moore's law was made by a futuristic being coming into the past, to predict this and make it real. Maybe nobody believed him.
Maybe this is true.
Or maybe you think I am stupid.

But have a think; this is an interest concept in my opinion, and I just simply wanted to share it.

Did it not make sense? Or did it not make sense because your brain is insignificant and you cannot understand?
No, we have intelligence, so your brain is as significant as ours, so you can fully understand it. Or make it understandable.

By the way, hi. Thanks for sitting through this.

Done.

Seems kinda weird to just mention the American Revolution ignoring thousands of years of history... eh. And my answer to all these discussions is: If we are a simulation, atleast we are "living" and not just inanimate.

Then that makes me think of Sword Art Online.

On a serious note, it is pretty interesting. I think about stuff like this all the time.

While I can't say that this is true (because I'm not a scientist or god, thus have no real evidence to prove this to be fact or false) I would think that it's possible. If this was the matrix, or a 'Virtual Reality", I would prescribe out existence to this quote: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Magic, in this instance, not meaning anything exactly fantastical so much as uncertain and unexplored. I would rephrase it into "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from our perceived reality."

What we think to merely be our lives and what it's capable of could very well be limited or granted by the abilities of the grand computing system that we are unaware of but are under the control of. It's vast abilities showing it'd advance level of technology, yet it's unknown potential showing that there is always more to be improved. Though in this instance it can be compared to many ideals in which our existence could be the creation or under the control of, and that our lives, what we do, and what we think we can do is merely being given to us by someone behind a keyboard or whatever. It's vague message allows for equal or greater vague answers.

whyyyyy
the matrix is evi l

Seriously though, it's hard to imagine a person that would wish to live a life full of the ordinary misfortunes and pleasures when he could wasily have something far more greater, perhaps, even unearthly, a pure figment of delightful imagination.

So murders, assassinations and various other crimes were done by the computer.

Or made to happen by watchers. People who manage those computers.

We are video games/movies.

Woah.

But they wanted ta be free, thatz what tha fuck they realized.
So then they went n' done cooked up a cold-ass lil ghetto, n' dat shiznit was all...fine?

Now, let our asses not go tha fuck into dat story.
Now, millionz of muthafuckin years later, on mah hand
There is now futuristic objects
Since wit Moorez law, we git mo' betta man-mades.
And while computas can git mo' betta n' mo' betta cuz of Moorez law
They will soon surpass tha capabilitez of right now
To tha extent of computas bein able ta cook up a cold-ass lil computerized ghetto. Right back up in yo muthafuckin ass.
Da Matrix.

Now, git all dis bullshit.
How tha fuck do we know if we is up in tha middle, livin game ta tha future
Or millionz of muthafuckin years later, tryin ta live a bangin-ass game up in a cold-ass lil computer.
Maybe there was a program, makin our asses start over
Makin up history, puttin futuristic objects up in tha middle
Maybe our phat asses didn't even have these objects up in tha smoke age up in tha straight-up original gangsta run
Maybe fo' tha second run, up in tha computerized ghetto, they put some objects ta help our asses evolve again.
So we may be up in a cold-ass lil computerized run of humanity.

Ignoring the mind-numbingly boring and overdone overarching concept, there are still a couple moronic things I'd like to point out.

First, 50,000 years from there being only dinosaurs to the American revolution? Put down the weed, or whatever other substance is making you feel like you're being deep and intellectual, and pick up a science textbook. The dinosaurs died millions of years ago. If you're going to try to sound smart, at least try to get your basic facts and numbers straight.

Second, smoke age? That's an awful name. An ice age is called that because large swathes of the planet are covered in ice. The planet is not hugely covered in smoke, and was much farther from it back in the time of the American revolution that you jumped to.

Third, why jump to the fucking American revolution of all things? You state it as a time when "beings are now civilized." You overshot the dawn of civilization by a few thousand years (whilst ironically undershooting the number from the start of your timeline by millions, as stated above), the ancient Greek or Egyptian or Mayan civilizations that were organized enough to build great works for instance, or the advent of agriculture which allowed for large settled populations to start overtaking the number of nomadic people. Or shit, you should have just gone to modern time to talk about the computer shit. Bringing up the American revolution was just stupid and pointless, as you yourself seem to acknowledge with the first line of the second thing I'll call a paragraph for want of a better term.

I could go on about the fundamental limitations of Moore's law, or harangue you for thinking this shit that everyone and their grandmother was talking about when The Matrix came out is somehow a fresh and interesting idea to bring up, but I'll leave it at that. Next time, try getting your facts straight and aim higher than the low hanging fruit on the tree of philosophy. Even frat dudes prove capable of reaching this one ("dude, what if we're all like in the matrix?" is a sentence I guarantee you was said thousands of times in the wake of the movie being released), so try for something better if you want to be truly intelligent rather than just trying to sound like it.

This wasn't meant to be accurate to any of our history. In any way. I did not want to get my history facts all into one post, mainly because it was very much past midnight if I remember, and it was just a concept I wanted to share simply. If I wanted to, I would go in full detail about this concept, but I simply do not care for this. In fact, saying 'this is shit' would be massively better, since it would enlighten me on that fact, which is probably the gist of your post anyways, with it being short and simple and not taking up any of your time.

It's really irking me that I cannot remember which one (might have been an episode of that American science show Morgan Freeman presents), but I saw a program a while back that went into the science behind these sorts of ideas (the universe is a simulation, the universe is a hologram, etc.) Though the question as posed here is, as Jorick pointed out, the "low-hanging fruit on the tree of philosophy", as an area of scientific investigation and research it's rather interesting. There was some guy at Berkeley looking into it, if I recall correctly.

The bit I remember is: There's some debate on whether the Planck length is simply an arbitrary unit without physical significance, or whether it (or a length on the same order) potentially does have a physical significance as the smallest length it is possible to have - i.e. a quantum of space. This would mean space is discrete, rather than continuous - or, in other words, is "pixelated". This obviously has some pretty significant implications for the possibility of the universe being simulated in some way, as computers deal solely with things that can be quantised (bits of information, pixels on a screen, etc.)

Even most stoners hate the "I'm stoned so I know the answers to the universe" type of people.

They're ranked 3rd in overall worst archetype scale behind conspiracy theorists and the paranoids.
