[OOC] The Relics (No Plot/Fantasy/Character Driven/Worthy of Skepticism)

My brain went from Lilian saying "Pass some lightning up to me!" to all three of them at the dinner table and Lillian saying "Can somebody pass the lightning?"

I'm going to go ahead and say that Lillian can't take the elements from one's summoning. For example, if Myth started charging his gauntlets with lightning, and they, as usual, began glowing electric-blue and electricity began crackling along his gloves and lower arms, Lillian wouldn't be able to take it. However, if Lillian were paying enough attention and was ready for the moment he would release, then Lillian could take it and enhance it and redirect it. IF she timed it right. It's immediate, instant, and that means you have to get the timing perfect, or you'll miss your chance at redirecting and recharging it.

A fireball or icebolt moves a great deal slower, so you'd obviously have better luck controlling them.

I think you're missing the point, which is that we'd be working as a TEAM. Besides, all Lillian has to do is be ready for whatever element she wants to absorb. If she's calling to it, it'll be attracted to her relic. That's how it works. It's kinda like a lightning rod that works with more than lightning.

The ability to be capable of equaling relic enhanced warriors with just your skills bothers me.

If you read her CS, you'd notice she can't do that anyway. What qualifies as an "element" is very specific for her. Lightning has to be an actual lightning bolt, not just charged metal. Wind has to be moving air, not just oxygen. Fire not embers, earth not metal, Water not liquid. Light and Dark are pretty hard to fake, so those have no such limits.

The difference between what you proposed and what her power can actually do is that she doesn't have to have pixel perfect timing to catch a lightning bolt, she just has to know it's on it's way before it hits her, and she can redirect it to her relic when it does.

He has trained for about two decades with a man who is Relic-enhanced. The only kind of defensive item that Myth possesses is the gauntlets, and that's more because conventional weapons, such as a sword, can't harm most, if any, Relics, so he'd be able to deflect it off his gauntlet, provided the force of the sword doesn't break his hand/wrist/arm, and if he doesn't just use his sword to block it.

If you want, I can have him more equal to one of lesser training, such as the... well, foreigner. I can't remember the names... Saenong? Saeong? The weaponsmaster from the other place.

You will not be impervious, someone's power renders yours useless and you have to deal with that.

Very well. It'd force a physical confrontation, anyways, instead of just a Relic powerbattle to see who slips first.

We're working out a little NPC that'll cause more chaos. Even if the NPC's abilities may be beneficial to Thora, they're not going to be working together. In fact, the NPC will, once Thora's existence is realized, consider her an obstacle that must be removed.

NPC, not PC.

Slavómir

Name: Slavómir “Weaver” Rezník. He’s got a dozen other aliases at least. But favored Alias currently is Weaver.
Age: Physically, he looks around thirty-four, but those who have encountered him in the past claim he did so then too, so his exact age is unknown.
Gender: Male (presumed)

Relic Description: Unknown appearance. Power: Nightbringer, shadow-weaver. Massive range, but nothing that can be touched. I.e. The darkness he(?) summons is incapable of causing direct harm to anyone. He(?) cannot summon dark tendrils to hurt anyone or anything like that. Its simply darkness.

Skills: Slavómir is expert at getting into the wrong places and at plotting. Fairly decent at dealing with unexpected surprises, but not flawless. He’s been an evoker for years, in the service to various factions more interested in what doesn’t belong to them than is healthy. As mercenaries go, he is a bit of a legend. He’s lethal in unconventional combat, but not one to thrive in a melee or one-on-one. As his relic-given power is purely visual, he can’t directly use it in combat. The larger the area he wields it upon, the less finesse he can put into it. When he’s working purely within close range, he can weave shadows that even the best would be fooled by.

Background: Unknown. Mercenary work. Coups. Robberies. Invasions. If its bad, you name it, and Slavómir has probably been involved in it somewhere.

Appearance: Slavómir is expert at disguises. Even if one had a decent description of him, one could be sure he’d not look like that next time. Only known fact is that he’s of average build and height, dark of hair and dark of eye. Weathered appearance, presumably with numerous scars. But again, he is wont to conceal as much of that as he can. There are even numerous times Slavómir has been known to masquerade as ladies both noble and common.

Motivation: Greed. Whim. Anger. Hatred. Curiosity. Slavómir is as complex as (s)he is simple.

Theme Song: No idea. Thinking something deep, mysterious. Probably dark. Slow-paced and patient. Not using any high-pitched instruments. Open for suggestions.
