Aerii people?

I was talking about a people who were essentially half-hawk/falcon, half human that lived in the South-West. Where the mountain range create another valley similar to the one that Amaryth is in, except smaller with a smaller lake. I was thinking more of Aerii being a people that had a main capital city nestled at the base of the mountains [up to the summit of the centermost], with them being more mechanical and architectural due to their position. Most Aerii cities being in the mountain tops, connected by bridges and little landing pads for Aeriians to safely land and take off without fearing to hit someone. Bridges and something similar to trolleys and stuff, hanging from cables, stretching across the distances for the transfer of goods. Elevators of sorts to get up from the floor of the valley up to the summit of the main Aerii capital, and stuff. Maybe crossbows, since regular bows wouldn't be ideal for what I'm thinking of their body structure.

Edit: Aeriians themselves being short, maybe 5 feet tall, with two sets of wings, one on the upper back, one on their lower back, with tufts of feathers that fan out during flight to serve as tail feathers, hunched over a little bit [reducing effectiveness with a bow], with a set of humanoid arms, though they are also a bit shorter than regular human arms. Hollow-boned, feathered. Weak in combat, best if they can find a perch and use an Aeriian crossbow on an enemy, though they can't fire while flying. Incompatible with Relics, obviously.

There was quite a bit to react to here...
We advanced the invasion a bit now.
They've taken the eastern gate and are advancing along the battlements. Not sure yet if they've taken any other gates.
As per imperial policy, all civilians are being escorted to safety. They'll not be allowed to leave, but they will not be harmed unless they succeed in harming soldiers. Even then, the Imperials prefer to lock up offenders rather than kill. Not that they won't kill, of course.

Any evokers they might capture will be held elsewhere.

Even if they might not yet have surrounded the whole city with companies of infantry, there will be numerous Mauler Cavalry companies making up a cordon further out around the City. We're not sure on the Map's scale or the distance to the big lake/inland ocean, but if it is relatively close to Amaryth and if anyone's to escape, it might be most reliable to escape by boat/ship. They may have brought an entire army and all it needs through the tunnels, but they have not brought any boats yet, let alone launched any.

I'm pretty sure the city is ON the water, and has a port for small boats. Not sure where they go from there, maybe there's a river not shown on the map somewhere. That's how Artemis and Starscream (And anybody who decides to follow the strange pair of a well packed scholar and a lightly packed drama queen) are going to escape to the Refuge.

Looking at the map again, that would make sense. We'd not observed the shape of the water closely before writing that last OoC post.
We now imagine that boats would be on the way, but not deployed enough to form a proper cordon, if that is even possible on water without full-sized ships. Across the water will be the most viable escape route. The Kalesian empire might have sent a pretty large army, but it cannot effectively surround the entire lake/ocean in time to stop smaller groups escaping.

We would agree that there are probably numerous rivers not shown on the map. Only the largest would be visible on such a map. Logic dictates that there is some sort of flow westward out of that water. It is either that or the region there is hot enough to evaporate the excess water, which would be rather implausible.

Also for some reason everybody seems to think that the ONLY thing Artemis studies is Relics. Let me put aside that confusion right now and assure you that only ONE of the books he's carrying right now concerns relics, and only THREE of them contain anything at all about the Old Kingdom (One is his book on Relics, one describes various structures and buildings left over from the Old Kingdom, and the third is a Bestiary on Old Kingdom monsters and constructs). This is a list of the other twelve books he brought with them.

1. History and Customs of the Othean People
2. Overview of Modern Weapons and Warfare
3. Physical and Cultural Traits of the Kingdoms of Azukhar
4. Azukhar: Flora and Fauna
5. Methods and Strategies for Wilderness Survival
6. Religious Groups and their Belief Systems
7. Campfire Recipes by Charles Decarte

I actually don't know what the other five are, but I'll figure that out.

I see Bor's old bud has unknowingly ran straight into Imperial lines! Maybe a sub-plot would be in order, eh?
And also, war canoe with an armed captain is waiting for peeps at da docks, if anyone's interested.

Oh, and worry for not editing my post but I needed it to look like a new post.
