Capaldi was amazing. The episode was meh but I hope that's just cause it was the ''Regeneration'' episode (which IMO aren't the best of the series by far).

I actually really liked Capaldi's first episode. Although I felt like a lot of it was directed at the fans who complained about Capaldi being older than the other recent Doctors, heh...

But yeah the new opening theme's badass, too. Sounds more like the Classics, I noticed. Which is kind of cool.

Loved the new theme. It was brilliant. No so much the new Tardis though. Capaldi's performance was great as well. Really felt like he was the 14th doctor out of 13 regenerations. It was one of them rare moments when the Doctor doubts himself, and is really not with it. Felt like Mat Smith without the goof that went with it. Not saying I didn't like Mat Smith's goof, it was awesome, really fit with a person that has lived to long.

Yeah, kind of made me wonder why the TARDIS interior even needed to be changed. When I saw the new design it got for the second half of season 7, I had assumed that TARDIS would stick around into Capaldi's run - and I even thought it was nice that they made the change a little early so that everything wouldn't change all at once like it did during the 10-11 transition.

But then... they changed it. Again. After only half a season. Seems a little early, don't you think? Besides, I did enjoy the other one more. I would've liked being able to look at it a while longer.

But I mean, that's a small detail. I do like most of what the Capaldi era has brought so far - and I think his first episode was probably one of the best first episodes, comparing it to some of the other Doctors' debuts.

The part with David Tennant phoning from Trenzalore to the modern day Clara was a bit confusing, but I liked it.

Cant believe i didn't sense this sooner... Yes thats right i have Doctor Who senses

Capaldi is a decent actor and I get the feeling i will come to like him just like when I realised Matt Smith was not a bad actor it was Stephen Moffat's shitty writing. Speaking of the guy i was hoping they would replace him, oh well I guess.

No, no, no, no, no, no, it was Matt Smith not David Tennant! What are you? A crazy person?

Yes the David Tennant Tardis was a lot better wasn't it?

And his Theme Music...

And that swirling vortex thingy-ma-bob... Speaking of which how do you guys like the new one?

TBH Moffat can be good, so long as he keeps the episodes self contained. Under Russel he did write some amazing episodes (Blink, the Girl in the Fireplace, the Silence in the Library) but now he trying to get bigger with his plots and it's not really working out for him.

He wrote the Girl in the fireplace? Wow... Ok maybe i shouldn't be so harsh. But yes, he really should stop trying to "expand" the universe and overall plot of doctor who so he can satisfy his ego.

And he should stop trying to casualise the Damm show! Seriously back in Russel T Davies era nearly every episode a character who was a ally to the doctor (minor or not) would die! Now thats drama!

I've heard that with Capaldi he hopes to make the Doctor and as a result the series darker and more serious so he could end up bringing back the drama. Also I went and found the leaked second episode (which was sadly in greyscale and not fully edited) and it was IMO definitely better than this first episode and certainly a bit darker. If the series keeps it up it could be good.

Even as minor as that poor scared Piggy getting shot. But, if they carry on with the Flaming Dinosaur route, it'll be scary.
