James looked at Sol. "Okay, so what in specific about your fortune were you wondering? The cards never do generalized things. They prefer you be at least a little specific."

Reina looked surprised, while Chase just smirked. "W-well, that IS a bit sudden. I haven't had anyone ask me to teach since, since, well Meruin!" said Reina, a little unsure of what to say. "I set a lot of time for Meruin during her apprenticeship, and I don't think I can do so again. Meruin is really the one and only person I'm willing to invest so much time in."

Chase scratched her chin in thought. "I may have some time to teach your kids, but occasionally I'll be gone for long stretches of time. Perhaps I wouldn't be the best of teachers with my constant absences, but if you're willing to put up with that and still get me on a good payroll, I suppose I could do so," said Chase.

Meruin meanwhile was a bit excited; if Lady Chase could teach here, then she'd have one of the most important people in her life nearby! Also, Chase was one of the most prominent (maybe even the most prominent) battle mages of all time. With her newly discovered Soul Rune being combat oriented, having her close by would speed the development of her abilities tenfold

Sol frowned "uhmmmm..." what did he want to know? Love would be boring, he didn't care about moeny, he would ask about his power but it could lead to a huge dissapointment. Was asking about his future to vauge? hmmmmm "OH I KNOW, ask them how i'm going to die." Sol said eagerly awaiting the answer. He waved over his head at Mutt as came and did something wierd again like he normally does. Did that make it wierd for him to do or normal for him to do? hmmmm...
The headmaster grinned "Of course Riena that is perfectly understandable. Now Lady Chase our prestigous school has no problems with suppling you a resonable amount of monetary reward for your services and even brief stays would be most apprectiated, i thank you for considering this offer." he said with pleased look.

James looked at him. "Are you sure about this? You could hear something you really don't want to," he said. "And if the cards feel like it, they may even tell you WHEN you're gonna die." He gave Sol a very serious look. "So you have to be absolutely sure. The last person that asked me to see how they were gonna die tried to fight against fate and prolong his life...and it erased them."

Chase laughed in delight. "Well, if that is the case, then I think I will accept! One question before I do, however; what would you possibly like me to teach?" she asked.

Meruin jumping with joy. Lady Chase! Here! At school! Teaching! she internally squee'd. Of course, she would have preferred if Master Reina was the one who stayed (even Chase admits that she's infinitely the better teacher) but this was still good!

There was that sound again. That joyous squee, which Mutt simply could not comprehend Meruin producing. Once more his defensive instincts kicked in and he soon syarted sniffing about the potential imposter. When alas his nose was burried within her hinde quarters, Mutt muttered. "Okay its Meruin." This strange phenomenon of nose pelting Meruin lasted all of 3 seconds whilst Mutt was in his Human form.

"I had to be sure you were you." Mutt said simply as he rose to 2 feet, and dusted himself off.

A human-shaped figure appeared that seemed to be made completely of glowing runic text. It appeared near the headmaster, then slowly formed into a person. "I apologize for being late, headmaster." It was a man who was obviously a mage, and he wore the robes of the ancient sorcerers. He also was carring a grimoire with him. He turned and looked at the others that were standing there. "Hello. My name is Joseph Hunter. I'm one of the teachers here."

Meruin jumped as she felt a . . . nose touch her behind. She wheeled towards the offender and . . . "Of course it was you Mutt," she muttered. "In the future, I'll have you refrain from doing that please, otherwise, I might . . . accidentally take off your nose. By accident of course." Reina was also glaring at Mutt, wondering who the hell he was.

Chase frowned and stared at the newcomer, then at James. "Wait a moment, didn't you say it was your brother . . . ?"
Meruin and Reina at once glowered at the newcomer. For some reason, they were gripped with the need to hide away all their books.
"So . . . yeah, I don't think it's at all that nice of me to meet you," said Chase, "considering I broke the seal you placed on your brother. By the way, what the hell were you thinking boy?"

Joseph actually laughed when Chase spoke to him, then the look in his eye changed completely. "That insolent brat? Heh...I sealed away his powers for everyone else's sake. His powers are based on fate itself. And, just like fate, they have a mind of their own. Whatever card he draws when he's fighting determines his powers. It was for everyone else's sake. So what if he dies from Dark Matter poisoning? I was keeping the world safe."

James, as soon as he noticed Joseph, completely stopped. "Sol, I'm gonna have to do your divination later. There's something I need to do now." He suddenly jumped up, and drew a card from his deck. It was the Strength tarot card, so his strength was increased by a lot. He dashed over to Joseph and went to punch him, but Joseph mumbled something and a magic barrier formed, but James's punch, thanks to the Strength arcana, cracked it and sent a ripple of air through the area.

"Enough."

With that one word, a wave of golden aura washed through the area. It completely wiped all traces of magic, and the strength of James went away with it. Chase began pacing towards Joseph, not looking very pleased anymore. "Listen here, boy, from hereon, your brother is under my protection. Your logic is twisted and downright deplorable, but you had good intentions, which is why I'm allowing you to stay alive."

Chase was shorter than Joseph, but once again, that golden aura of hers made her seem more towering than anyone in sight. "Do not even think about touching another hair on your brothers body, or I will come after you personally and twist you into pretzels like I did C'thulu, understood?"

James cringed as he dropped to a knee, feeling that much strength leave his body at once hurt. "Heh...good intentions? Apparently he forgot to mention how he used our entire hometown as sacrifices just to enhance his own abilities..." He slowly stood again.

Joseph chuckled. "You and your big mouth, brother. I guess I should call myself lucky that you didn't draw the card of the Universe or the World." He didn't seem bothered at all by the fact that Chase could easily kill him. "Oh well. I must get back to translating these tomes anyways." With that, he turned and walked off, as if the massive amount of power emanating from Chase didn't bother him in the slightest.

Tyler frowned at the book in his hands. 'It doesn't have any noticeable pattern to the language.' He wasn't paying attention to where he was going, as he intently focused on the writing in the book. "Damn!" He yelled as he bumped into Joseph. He picked up the book off of the floor and looked at Joseph. "Watch where you're going you..." His sentence stopped as he felt the power that rolled off of the man. "Forgive me, I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you a teacher here?"

Joseph looked at Tyler. "Yes. I am." He then glanced down at the book Tyler was carrying. "That's an interesting book you have there. May I take a look at it?"

Chase huffed. "Well, at least he got the message. Boy," she said, rounding off to James, "don't attempt to fight him alone. Should problems arise, I will deal with him, this is my first order as a teacher, understood?"

Meruin waled beside Tyler. "I would keep an eye on that book if I were you," she said, her hand twitched towards Tyler's own, but she withheld it, and shook her head. "Oh, and thank you for assisting me with my Soul Rune. I don't think I would've found it had you not pushed me during our fight."

James looked at Chase and simply nodded. "I'll remember that." He looked at his cards and sighed, before turning to look at Sol. "Okay. I can tell you your fortune now."

"Oh yes, it's the final volume of in the Master Water Magic series. After I master Water Magic I'm going to work on Water Magic synergies with other elements." Tyler handed the book to him and looked over at Meruin. "He's a teacher here, he wouldn't do anything unnecessary."

Sol grinned, "Well was exciting and of course i'm sure i want to see my fortune what fun is it if i can't die proving it right, right?" he said happily.
The headmaster frowned at all the trouble being caused, "Joseph I expect you to be civil to your younger brother and everyone else here regardless of the circumstances. Now Chase i was most impressed with your explaintion on the higher workings of magic and was hoping for you to take a role in teaching Advanced Magic Theory if that doesn't sound too troublesome hm?"

Joseph started to look through the book, then held it in one hand, while he held out his other and said something in one of the ancient forgotten magical languages, and a fully translated copy of the book appeared in his other hand, and he gave them to Tyler. "Here you go."

James sat back down where he was, and laid out three cards this time after shuffling the deck. He looked at Sol. "Are you ready for this?"

Tyler took the book and opened it. He skimmed through the pages as his eyes widened in surprise. "Thank you sir! I will not forget your kindness!" He exclaimed as he ran off somewhere to begin reading the book. He could already feel his knowledge of Water Magic expanding and strengthening by reading the book. What he didn't know was that the book was designed to implant the knowledge into you automatically once translated, as a sort of reward for taking the time to translate the book.

Chase nodded. "Well, I think I can handle that. If you can handle the rest, I can start lessons as soon as you need me to," she said. Reina found the whole situation kind of funny; despite the fact that she was better at theories, Chase was the one who got a job at teaching it. Well, she supposed it was because she was good at theories that she didn't have time for teaching it, since she needed to be researching instead.

Meruin pouted as she felt magic flow through the book. "Cheater," she muttered pettily. She didn't really have anything against instant learning spells, but all of the books that Master Reina gave her had to be learned before they could be used. Even 'Golden Authority' from Chase worked under the same principle.

Reina walked towards Meruin. "Well, my small apprentice, I do think it's time for me to go. Take care of yourself, all right?"
Meruin nodded, a little disappointed that Reina was leaving so soon, still she did her best to smile for her Master. "Yeth- I mean, yes!" squeaked Meruin. Reina laughed. "Aah, it's good to know that even after all these years you still lisp when you get sad." The tall woman hugged Meruin one final time, bowed to the Headmaster, then disappeared.

Chase smirked. "Well, there she goes, leaving me - sorta - stuck with you. I'll be leaving in five days time, and I don't know when I'll be back. You know how dimension hopping works."
