Aemi had spent what felt like forever shooting at the mechanical humans, but more of them kept coming at her. At least she had stopped considering the deaths she was causing; that part would come later, once the adrenaline had fled. Shoot, shoot, shoot. Just keep pulling the trigger. And then she saw something that made her freeze up. An icy purple beam of light burned a hole clean through one of the mechs. That color though... She remembered all of the days she had spent playing with Al and Lia in the meadow by their house. Al would make little bubbles of lavender light and the girls would try to catch them. "ALBUS?!" She shrieked, shoving through the mechs trying to find him. A bullet lodged in her side, fracturing at least one rib, but she barely felt it, so caught up was she in looking for her brother. Then, she saw him, his icy lavender eyes sparking as he held off the mechs. She touched his arm lightly, and then pressed herself against his back, shooting at the mechs that now surrounded them. During a lull of a few seconds, she grabbed his wrist and started pulling him towards the other demigods. "Come on, Al. Trust me. We need to get up against a wall." Albus was in no mood to argue, his face gray with exhaustion. They found the wall, and found the others. The siblings kept their hands laced as they backed up behind the others, bleeding and exhausted.
"Al... I thought you guys were dead. Wait. Where... Where's Lia?" Al was shaking his head as she asked.
"I don't know. Aemi, they knew she was a Seer. They... they tortured her, trying to make her share what she's Seen. They nearly killed her... You know how weak she was to start with...She's gone completely mad from the pain. I don't think she even recognized me. She just knelt in a corner, bleeding and nearly dead, murmuring her prophecies over and over again, and wouldn't eat or drink or sleep for three days. They took her again two nights ago and I haven't seen her since." His voice was shaking as he said it. Aemi gasped slightly, tears welling up in her eyes.
"She's only... She's only twelve. The monsters tortured a twelve-year-old girl and made her go mad so they could know the future. They..." She started crying, leaning against Al. She was heedless of the fact that they were both bleeding quite badly, that they were defenseless in the middle of a battle.
