Yes.
It's, more or less, a guide. If one character is higher at something than the other, then that one would win in that field.

However, due to combat being so dynamic and many tactics used, it's mostly for reference to the player as to what their character is best at and can rely on.
Also, the Talents don't, inherently, do anything. The skills are what make a fighter. The Talents just determine how much skill they can put into something. But there are exceptions. I'll use one of my characters as an example.

Akimoto Taiki
You'll see my stats just as numbers, but they have words which correlate with them.
4: 5, 2
0: 0, 5, 5
5: 0, 5, 5
0: 1, 4
3: 5

So this can translate to the following:
Vast Reiryoku: Legendary Reiatsu, Average Kido Power
Unlearned (yet to learn) Zanjutsu: Poor Offense, Legendary Defense, Legendary Physical Strength
Legendary Hakuda: Poor Offense, Legendary Defense, Legendary Physical Strength
Unlearned Kido: Unremarkable Knowledge, Incredible Intelligence
Master Hoho: Legendary Mobility

So, to me, this means that he focuses on Defense and Power rather than skill at actually attacking deftly. He'll wear his opponents out before striking them with a simple blow (probably shattering them). But just because he "unlearned" Zanjutsu does not make his Legendary Defense and Physical Strength in Zanjutsu any worse. This merely means he does not have any Talent in Zanjutsu and has, thus, worked extra hard to get where he is in Zanjustu. It can indicate he has little-no formal instruction in Zanjutsu or that he merely expelled it from his memory as he doesn't care much about it. This can also be said about someone who has Legendary Offense but unlearned Zanjutsu. Again, this means they lack either the discipline of an artform or have not learned one yet. Regardless, they can still attack with accuracy and lethality.

The way the numbers end up just create more depth for your character. Certain aspects would be cause for ridicule or praise, depending. (For example, with Akimoto, he would be scoffed at for being a Captain with no real talent for a sword but praise that he overcame this and learned how to defend with a sword as well as he can with his hands).

Hope that long-winded response clears things up. :)

Excellent post, Limey. But I found a time-gap. She would have known a week prior to her being summoned by the CC.

Get it together, Limey. What even is your life?
...xP

It was vague, but the war has been going on for a while now. About 100 years (I believe I specified that in the Setting/Plot...but I'm too lazy to go back and look).
A Vasto Lorde is not an Arrancar, it's a type of Menos which is a Hollow. A Vasto Lorde never removed its mask. Harribel was a Vasto Lorde before taking off her mask.
What is Seiretsu? Are you meaning to type Seireitei?
Yasu was not called to fight the VL. It would have been reported to her but she would have only been dispatched if the situation was dire/more Captains died. Since it was the 8th (Information), she was not as equipped in straight combat like another Division (5th). Kuroda was aiming to protect the 8th Captain and return, but that mission failed (but I left that out on purpose). I would have said that Kuroda wanted Yasu to go as well. But Kuroda believed two of the best Captains could at least drive the VL away.

Other information you should know, It's probably going to be a lot busier for Yasu and that she's not going to be able to perform any physical duties herself. The Captains will have a lot of paperwork and organization/training to do during the war.
The Third Division is more in charge of speaking with the Houses, the Sixth would enact decrees and work to fix injustices rather than investigating it, which is what the 8th would do. So the Third discovers there is a problem which is processed through the Eighth and then enacted through the 6th. (This doesn't change your post, just something to consider)

There might be more, but I can't think of it right now. Sorry for the lack of communication. :(

Time to criticize your writing once more! Hazzah!
But no, it's not your fault. I wasn't too specific. I didn't want my opening post to be more than two pages in word (it was at the end of the second so I stopped).

Just kidding, though.
And Oblivion seems busy with life, so this might be a 1x1 for a while. ;)

Oh...I feel so bad. :(

-The attack was in the Rukongai as the Gotei are trying to keep them from reaching the Seireitei. (I never specified in the post but, to me, it was assumed considering the plot/setting).
-The ground where the battle was would have been charred and reduced to ash, so there wouldn't have been any trace of her. (That was in my post)

Regardless, I'm going to start my next post. You don't have to fix those points if you don't want to. Again, I apologize for my lack of clarity. :(

Great post!

I'll get working on one in a bit. Have to get a few other things done first.

I was wondering, was there anything you wanted to explore in this? I'm open to any arcs and stuff.
I was thinking of exploring a time before the war and the relations between Captains and such.
But I can also see a kind of civil war with the Noble Houses who refuse to use their relics to help with the war. I've created these relics already, so we don't have to worry about that.

Any opinions?
Just trying to keep conversation beside IC activity.

Hmm.

I think, as a side note from arcs, we should try and get more people, so perhaps a recruitment thread is in order?

As for arcs, i think a pre-war arc should come after we have had time to develop the characters. The relic wars sounds interesting though, with certain captains being drawn to defend the house and such vs the duty they have to the Gotei...lots of potential there.

I'm, personally, not very interested in recruitment. Every time this exceeded 5 players, it died after the first round. I don't mind you making more than one character, though. Perhaps you could make your Lieutenant, if only a bare-bone CS for the sake of playing her more accurately. But I'm not pressuring you to. ;) Whatever you want, dear. ;P

But if you think we *need* more players, then you're free to make an interest check. I'll leave you in charge of that.

Alright, I'll try to think of a time when it's best to introduce that.
But now for a nap. ^^

I can agree to just a couple more dedicated players, i am not thinking anything more than 2 more players, honestly.

I will probably reach out to people personally, as opposed to doing an actual IC. Might keep things fresher as time goes on.

I might make the liuetenant, who knows? see how I feel

Yeah, a big problem is players not keeping interest or just saying they'll be away for a while.

As for my post, sorry I've postponed it. Whenever I get to the computer, I know I should write, but can't seem to get the muse. There are also other things I should be focusing on, like getting a job (which is where most of my energy is going :/). >.>
