Name: Titus Junius Antonius.
Age: 36
Nationality: Roman.
Rank within nation: Legatus, Legio XIII Gemina (rumors tell of claims that he is a son of Mars)
Province: Pannonia, (currently engaged in Judaea assisting in putting down the Jewish Revolt. )
Appearance: Antonius stands at 5'9", with grey eyes and dark brown hair cut in the Caesarian fashion. He is broad shouldered, but wiry in terms of visible muscle mass. This leads people to misinterpret a perceived weakness of strength that he is all too happy to exploit. His skin is toned an olive hue from his time in Judaea, but normally is a slightly lighter shade of tan. He has numerous scars on his back and chest, referring to them as war trophies. His most visible is a single scar running down his face across along his left cheekbone, constant reminder of his past. While outside the boundaries Rome proper he is almost entirely seen dressed in his lorica segmentata, unless battle is to be joined, he strips to the lorica hamata. He is seen with two gladii when not in Roma.
Background: A member of the disgraced Junii family, Titus grew up hearing of the greed and ambition espoused in his ancestor Decimus Junius Brutus. He was raised on the stories of the traitor, and eventually left home to join the legions, ironically ending up First Spear Centurion in Legio XIII Gemina, the Legion formerly commanded by Gaius Julius Caesar in his Gallic wars. Through pure skill and a penchant for military strategy, Titus ascended the ranks becoming the praetor of the legion. After his he was assigned a governorship of Pannonia, much to the delight of his men. More recently, he was summoned to assist Vespasian in putting down the Jewish Revolt. Even as Vespasian, whom he had grown to be friends with, was supported for his imperial bid, Titus remained in Judaea, His legion aided in the attack on Jerusalem, though he refused to allow his men to sack the city. After 4 long years, he is prepared to retire back to Pannonia, of course... Rome rarely allows men their desires.
Strengths, weaknesses, phobias, et cetera: His fierce prowess in battle and military mind have earned him the reputation of being a son of mars, he however, realizes this is pure fiction. He is a disgraced son of the Junii, and as such undertakes several unnecessary risks in the name of restoring the honor in his name. He is quick to anger. Often he will lash out at those under his command for perceived failures. However, when he is wrong, he will publicly admit his fault and reward those he has wronged. As such, he has earned the undying loyalty of his legions, particularly the 13th. He fears that simply bearing the family name of his ancestor will prevent him from ever knowing peace.
Ambition: Titus Junius Antonius wishes to return home to a peaceful governorship of what he has come to see as his home in Pannonia. He has no taste for politics, and prefers the simplicity of military command. He is growing older, however. He also longs for a wife, to bear his tired soul children, so that he might pass on his knowledge and modest fortune to a new generation. βMaybe theyβll succeed where I have so far failedβ
