[IC] The gladiator and the princess

Lauralye looked at Robert when they landed then at their surroundings. Lauralye had never slept outside. The concept was quite strange. However, Robert seemed quite alright with it. She sat down where he was building the fire and watched him. She was quite tired, despite not really having done much work. She yawn and lay down on her side and looked up at Robert, "Thank you... for doing this, Robert," She whispered.

Robert nodded to that, "your welcome lauralye I didn't belong there anyway." He stoked the fire, taking off his jacket. He folded it up to make a sort of pillow he handed it to lauralye. "Gets some sleep we have a long ways to go tomorrow before we stop," he said it was a sigh he glanced at her a few times before directing his attention back to the fire.

Another sigh escaped him, Lucian's words had gotten to him. you will die it states it clearly in your destiny, he only swallowed slightly to those words. He was wondering why now, why the goddess of magic had taken interest in him all of a sudden it hadn't happened before.

Lauralye smiled and took the coat from Robert and placed it under her head. She yawned a little and looked at him, "Alright.... But make sure you get some sleep as well...."

She reached over her hand and took his hand as she started to drift off. She felt safe knowing he was there. She found it funny that she felt more safe in his presence here, out in the world, than she had in a palace where she had been guarded her entire life. As she fell into her slumber, her fingers slipped from his and rested gently on the ground next to him.

Robert looked over at her he smiled slightly, before he threw a few more sticks into the fire. He laid down next to her, he looked at the night sky wondering if he had been born as an angel and a goddess gave him to his mortal mother then who was his real mom then.

The morning light broke into their clearing and shone in Lauralye's eyes causing her to stir. She rose her hand, blocking the sun from her face and looked around, trying to remember where she was. When the events of the previous day sunk it, she bit her lip a little. She grabbed Robert's jacket and pulled it around her shoulders, staring at the fire that had long since died out, leaving behind black remains of wood. She looked at Robert, who lay a small ways away from her, she still believed she made the right decision leaving but it didn't make her miss home any less. She sighed and rested her head in her hands.

Took a few more minutes before Robert woke up, he was leaned against a tree. His shook his head to get the sleepiness out of him, his eyes traveled the clearing till they landed on lauralye with her head in her hands. Though she had his jacket on, which was new but he got up. Went over to her before kneeling down in front of her.

He touched her shoulder, "you ok?" His blue eyes searching her face, he was concerned he knew what it was like to miss home he had missed it for years, though he had gotten used to the ache in his chest.

Lauralye looked up at Robert when she felt his hand on her shoulder. She met his eyes before they started to search her face. She nodded after a moment, "Yes.... I think it just hit me all... I've actually left."

She shifted slightly so that she leaned into Robert. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, "I know did what's right... I just.... miss them all already..."

She took a deep breath, "We should go, shouldn't we?"

Robert nodded to that putting his arms around her, sighing as he listened to her. "I know I had to go through the same thing when I left home I wanted to turn back so badly but I couldn't. I traveled never staying in one place for long since it never felt like home."

He looked at her, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear with two finger. Before he nodded, "we need to go if we want to put more space between us and David he's probably already found you gone." His eyes went down to her finger, that still had the ring on it.

Lauralye didn't want to move, she wanted to stay right there, Robert's arms around her as the birds twittered their morning song. She sighed after a brief moment and stood, taking off his coat and handing it to him. She did, she noticed the wedding ring still on her finger, she stared at it, even after Robert took back his coat. Slowly, she pulled it off of her finger and tossed it into the remains of their fire. She grabbed her things and looked at Robert, giving him a small smile, "Alright, let's go."

Robert looked at his black jacket before taking it, it was from his mother she had said it belonged to his father which he never really met. He put it on, watching lauralye when she threw the ring into the remains of the fire. He nodded, grabbing her by the waist he took off into flight.

It would at least take them an hour, before they would reach his grandfathers place. He inwardly sighed he wouldn't be able to wear the black attire he was wearing now, though he didn't mind that much.

Lauralye looked at the building in front of them when they landed. A nervous feeling washed over her, she so badly wanted for Robert's grandfather to like her. It was a strange feeling... A feeling she wasn't exactly used to. She normally didn't care what people chose to think about her. They had to pretend to like her even if they didn't anyways. She reached out and took Robert's hand, "Ready?...."

Robert retracted his wings, rolled his shoulders. When he felt a warm hand in his lauralye's, he nodded. "As ready as I'll ever be," with that he pushed the door open. He blinked, guards were standing guard and looking at him, he couple see smiles come across there faces as one sent for his grandfather.

Hi grandfather came down the stairs, "did I hear that my old winged grandson was here." A smile broke out across Roberts face, "right to the point as always granddad." Jake looked at his grandson, he had grown while he was gone. "I'm glad to see you and whose this?" He pointed to lauralye, "this is lauralye grandad," jake chuckled lightly to that, "as long as she makes you happy then I can't complain about her."

Lauralye watched as people reacted to Robert, they all seemed happy about his arrival. When his grandfather entered, she looked at Robert, who seemed to smile widely. She laughed a little and nodded to the grandfather when he told her that he could not complain. She squeezed Robert's hand a little, Robert had had her worried about his relationship with his grandfather moments before. But it seemed as though the two of them got along fairly well. She fingered the tiara that hung around her neck, "It's a pleasure to meet you," She said with a small curtsy.

Jake looked to her, "no the pleasure is all mine lauralye since here you are making my grandson be the happiest man alive." Robert shook his head, "I know my way around granddad I'll show her to her room." Jake nodded before he went back toward strategizing with the others, for the upcoming war with the demons. He lead lauralye to a room, that would be hers for the time being.

Lauralye allowed Robert to lead her to the room in which she would be staying. She looked at him when they got there and sighed, "I suppose he is also dealing with the demon war..." Her father had spent much time in his study because of those wars. She bit her lip, it was all worrying. The demons clearly had an interest in her, for whatever reason, and they clearly wanted Robert dead. Things weren't looking good for either of them. She decided, however, to focus on the positive, "Do... I really make you happy?"

Robert nodded, "you make me happy lauralye you do." A sigh escaped him, he shook his head. He didn't need to be flashed back to the place of the marriage that lauralye never wanted. He got rid of the thought, "get some rest or do you want me to stay with you?"

Lauralye smiled a little when he told her that she made him happy. She shook her head when he suggested that she get some rest, "I'm not tired.... I wouldn't mind you staying with me... I don't really want to be alone... not after Lucian.... and it is strange, being here."

Robert nodded to that, before walking into the room. He closed the door behind him, he took off his boots. Then his shirt, his back was turned to her it had whip marks all over the skin past wounds from the whip that had long since healed. He set the shirt down on the dresser, before he took off te gloves on his hands.

Lauralye walked into the room with him. It was simple, compared to her own. There was a large bed and a small coffee table and sitting area. She walked over to it and was about to sit down when she noticed the scarring on Robert's back. She walked over to him, her jack and gloves still on, and touched one of the long scars. She pursed her lips, "Do... They hurt still?"
