[IC] The gladiator and the princess

The doctor injected the antidote into Robert's arm and watched as the black lines disappeared. He let out an audible sigh of relief. No matter what others were saying, the doctor liked Robert, and he liked him with the Princess. He could see how happy the Princess was with him. It was nice to see her smiling like she did when she was young. The doc stood and nodded to the others, "I'll watch these two. No visitors though. Not even his highness."

When they all left, the doctor made sure that the curtains were closed entirely before wheeling Robert's bed closer to the sleeping Lauralye's. He looked at him, "I can't seem to wake her.... and I can't tell what is wrong... But her vitals seem good," He smiled at Robert, "You went to great lengths saving her, I'm sure. Be with her while you can," He then turned and disappeared.

Watched as the doctor went to another room, Robert let out a sigh. His arm still hurt, but not as bad as when the poisen was inside of his arm. He was glad to be alive, and he was glad that he was able to help lauralye. He turned onto his side, moving strands of hair from her face.

He let out a sigh, he was close to death. Still he wasn't dead as long as he was alive, he would protect the princess with his life. He put his hand to her cheek, before he removed it. He was tired, he smiled a little before sleep finally took him under.

It wasn't until morning that Lauralye woke. She stared at the ceiling, blinking. What happened? She placed her hand on her forehead. Last she remembered, she was in the forest and Lucian apologized to her... Saying that he would have to kill Robert. Her heart tightened and looked around, her eyes rested on the sleeping Robert and exhaled with relief. She reached out and held his hand as she rested her head back down on her pillow. Where were they?

Another hour passed, before Robert finally woke up. His eyes scanning around, before he realized they were still in the medical wing. Looking over at lauralye finding her awake,"hey" it hurt to speak but he could speak nothing less. A sigh escaped him, as he turned onto his side looking at lauralye. He looked down, seeing her hand in his he smiled a little bit.

Lauralye looked at Robert when he spoke. She had been staring at the curtains, the roof, trying to figure out where they were. Now that Robert was awake, she didn't feel so alone. She rolled onto her side and looked at him, "Where.... Where are we?" She asked in a hushed voice, there was a hint of fear in her tone as her hand held his a little tighter.

Robert sighed, when lauralye asked him that question. "Were in the medical wing of the castle I had gotten hurt and you were out cold even with my screaming last night." He moved a strand of her hair from her face, "were safe lauralye I had made sure of that last night."

Lauralye looked around a little when he said that they were in the medical wing of the hospital, "I've... never been here before..." She whispered. She moved to the edge of her bed, getting as close to Robert as she could without falling through the small crack between the beds. She bit her lip as a finger on her free hand began to scratch the sheets. She took a deep breath then met Robert's eyes again, "What happened last night? I can't... remember... All I remember is... Lucian trying to kill you...."

Robert looked at her, "Hecate and you were in the same body throwing fire at Lucian he got a lucky stab out of my arm before he disappeared after that I got us back here." He sighed looking down at the mattress, "I nearly died last night because of the poisen the doctors were able to find the cure for it though."

Lauralye looked at him with confusion, "Hecate?"

She was stunned. Hecate, the goddess of magic and her in the same body? Why? She bit her lip, him nearly dying didn't surprise her, Lucian had told her last night that he had to kill him, before she blacked out. She weakly sat up on her bed and moved herself over the small crack before curling up close to Robert. She rested her head on his chest, taking in his scent, "I love you, Robert," She whispered. There was a part of her that worried that she might never get to say it again.

Robert was surprised a bit, when she. Said she loved him. Though he wasn't complaining, he put his arm around her. "I love you too, princess," he said. What Lucian had said last night was getting to him, your gonna die either way it states it simply in the fates he knew what Lucian had said. He just didn't want to believe it looking down to lauralye, she didn't deserve him dying on her either.

Lauralye wrapped her arm around Robert, placing her hand on his shoulder. She hated her duty. She didn't want to be married to David. She didn't want to be married to anyone her father chose. She wanted to be with Robert. So long as she was the princess though.... There was nothing that she could do about it. She didn't want to give up on her people either... The people who she never met but she felt as though she was responsible for. However, the feeling that tore through her from almost the moment Robert arrived, she didn't want to be here. She looked up at Robert, "I want to leave.... With you... I want to help people... but I can't do that here.... I don't have power to do that here...."

Robert nodded to that, "it's up to you if we leave here or not.......I don't really mind we can go back to the place when I was little I guess." He looked down at her, "though the war will probably still come. Though I can probably go to my grandfathers place, he's the king in bastin he would be glad to see his grandson once more."

Lauralye took a deep breath, she hadn't been expecting that... She didn't know why. She was pretty sure she could ask Robert for the moon and he would find a way. She bit her lip, thinking about it. She could leave, she could really leave. Leave and never come back. However, could she trust David to properly take care of her throne? Could she live not being a Princess? David would surely send people after them, could they remain hidden? She looked up at Robert, "What if they catch us? David will have you killed.... And... I've never... not been a Princess... do you really think I could handle it?..."

Robert looked down at her, he sighed. "I know if they catch us david will kill me staying here I don't want that. It's not my home an I don't belong here, I don't know if you can handle not being a princess or not lauralye that's up to you not me lauralye."

Lauralye thought about it and took a deep breath, "I'll have to try...." She looked at Robert, "I can't let David kill you... Lucian knows where I am... He might not be so kind the next time he steals me away... My father could be possessed by a demon.... For my safety... and your's... we should leave...."

She slowly sat up and looked at the curtain. The thought of leaving the palace was both exciting and absolutely terrifying... She wouldn't be able to say goodbye to anyone. She wouldn't be able to write to the people who had raised her... She looked back at Robert, "We'll leave when you can...."

Robert nodded, he rolled out of the bed. He clutched his shoulder slightly he rolled it, before grabbing his boots and putting them on. "Well now depends on you we'll leave whenever your ready to leave lauralye," the wings out of his back came out, he gave them a testing flap. He felt no pain, he nodded to that.

Lauralye nodded when Robert said that it was up to her when they left. She grabbed the hand of his good arm and started to pull him out of the infirmary. She brought them through secret passages to avoid being found and slipped into her room. She quickly changed into pants and a shirt, a very strange attire. She'd have to get dresses when they were out in the world. She stuffed a few of things into her bag and one singular fine red dress. She might need it, if they went to visit Robert's grandfather. She looked at him and nodded, "Okay, I'm ready..."

She started to walk to the window and stopped, grabbing her crown which had been placed back her bed. She held the string of jewels for a moment before wrapping it around her neck, like a necklace, "Okay... now I'm ready."

Robert walked when he got pulled along, he nodded when she said she was now ready. "Well for one you'll get to see the things I get to see every time I fly fly but anyways we better get moving." With that, he wrapped his arm around her waist. Guiding them both to the window, with a sigh he launched into the sky.

His grips on lauralye was tight enough to hold her to him as he flew. It was nice to be fully flying once more, they were high enough that if anyone looked up they would look like a raven. He smiled down at lauralye, "you like the view?" The country side was passing them, trees rivers and animals on the ground. They didn't know they were flying overhead really no one did.

Lauralye had been wise this time and grabbed a jacket. She had just pulled it on before Robert guided her over to the window, a hand around her waist. She looked at him as he secured his arms around her then flew off into the air. As they threw over the castle wall, she looked back at her window and the place that had been her home. She bit her lip, she knew it was right to leave. She could do more for her country out here than they would ever let her do in there. Robert's voice, asking her how she liked the view, tore her out of her thoughts and her eyes away from the ever-shrinking castle. She looked down to the ground far below them and nodded, "It is quite lovely..."

Robert nodded, he knew she was thinking about other things right now. Still he kept flying, it was sunset, before he landed in a clearing. Letting to of lauralye, a sigh escaping his lips, he got the fire started. He would have to go hunting later for food, but right now he was to tired to do it.
