I had originally entered with two sci-fi characters in mind. Ultimately, I only managed to find one of the sheets, and she wasn't accepted. So, I have a rather anachronistic Fantasy character, instead. I did eventually find the other sci-fi character I had in mind, but after the limits of what a character should be capable of were detailed, I deigned her to be overpowered beyond the point of changing.

On another note... that NGNL signature keeps distracting me for a minute for every time I see it.

Oh, if the GM is still interested, I'm willing to send him that second Sci-Fi sheet irregardless. I actually rather miss Ms. Zegato.

I really doubt I have to mention it but just like auto-hitting and godmodding, you might want to include a rule against auto-dodging for combat.

Technically, auto-dodging falls under the purview of godmodding. After all, a god needn't tank all hits when it can make all hits fall short or go long of it.

From my experience, godmodding has generally been defined as making your character godlike and controlling other players characters as in auto hitting

I would assume that being able to dodge everything would fall under godmodding, as it is a godlike attribute.

Godmoding got its name from characters who are given a "godlike" status (so auto-dodging, yeah), but really, any time that you basically write out someone else's reaction to something your character is doing, it's godmoding. That can be as simple as saying "They frowned at my display", so it pertains to more than just fighting.

Though honestly I've never had an issue with godmoding on the guild, but I might have just been lucky.

I've had a case where I've used stuff like "x did q that y would undoubtedly frown at." but that's about the furthest extent of control I've taken over a character without permission, which is essentially just a presumptive statement, rather than taking control of a character.

Basically, it should go without saying that taking the reigns over the fate of another player's character or their actions is "godmodding". As you guys said, it's the act of playing god - manipulating fate.

Of course, that's somewhat allowable if you're the GM, but only to a limited degree. And that's only because the players have essentially signed a contract with the GM to put their actions under his/her scrutiny. After all, God Modding and Game Master share the same initials. Hah.

The term is God-Moding, not God-Modding. God-Moding is a term derived from the original first person shooter video game in the year 1993. In the game, developers had a secret code that allowed them to perform various tricks like refilling ammunition, replenishing health and the like. One of these abilities was to be totally invincible, and have perpetual ammunition. This was called the "God Mode".

On a related note, the term "pwn" or "pwned" is rarely understood either. When someone is totally and utterly thrashed, in a video game, sports game or whatever they are said to have been pwned. This term is derived from the era of MUSHes MUDs and MOOs, the original MMORPG that were played entirely through text. Objects in these games could be linked to your character, like a warrior holding a sword. Anything created that belonged to a player, particularly props designed by the player him or herself, was "player owned" or in the short form, "p-Owned" and finally "pwned". Thus, to pwn someone to beat them so badly that you own their arses :)

God-modding, God Mode Activate, or God Moding. What is relevant is what not to do and what the general consensus is as to its definition so that it may be prevented and moderated.

Sorry, guys, I'm working I promise. In fact, tonight might be the last night of work. I assumed it would be last night, then I got a stress headache and passed out Skyping with someone. >_> Regardless, what's left is basic things that aren't necessities but would be best for me to have before we start, but if they take any longer than another day I'll just start and worry about them in a timely manner. No matter how many times I promise myself a time, however, something gets in the way: today I had two MRIs done, then got wrapped up in watching my brother all day while my Mom ran pointless errands.
