While this RP is based on a series, there will be original material that should aid potential members who are unfamiliar with the games in participating. Some facts will be listed below to provide people with basic knowledge over the Rune Factory Universe. Before that, is a brief description of the RP’s setting. I hope this catches positive attention, especially from those familiar with the games. I’d like to see if there’s an interest before investing in the idea. Feel free to leave suggestions in this interest check!
The Norad kingdom extends for miles in every direction, but only a few locations have been touched upon. We’ve heard of Kardia, a border town beside the hostile Sech Empire, and Trampoli, a small village within walking distance from it. Those are only two of the different villages spoken of. However, there is a bustling city, located on the outskirts of Norad, hidden away from foreign eyes by mountain ranges. Blocked from receiving monsoon rains, the desert city, Ekrem, is home to many exceptional trades and crafts that lure merchants in to receive a steady supply of water. It has always been a peaceful area, far away from conflicts with the Sech Empire. However, time has thrown a challenge toward the city’s inhabitants. Their main source of water, the Burian River, has begun to dry up. Foul play is suspected, seeing as water was flowing freely not too long ago. People have noticed an influx in monster gates, portals that allow creature access into the human world, over the past few weeks. Could they be tied to the river’s depletion?
- In the game universe, life force is referred to as “rune,” hence the series’ name. Don’t fret; you can still talk using “life force” instead (I don’t think I’ve ever used the word life force in conversation either, don’t sweat it).
- Mysterious spirits are said to speak with specific species and earth-mates, which are humans who have a strong connection with the land. They have a green thumb, in a sense. Many earth-mates are farmers.
- It is also known that earth-mate blood runs through the royal family of Norad.
- Monsters come from the Forest of Beginnings and can be transported to the human world through gates/portals. The Sech Empire has developed machines to teleport creatures. Upon defeat, monsters are warped back to the Forest of Beginnings. Several non-human species do not originate from The Forest of Beginnings.
- Norad is a kingdom that utilizes different forms of magic. A popular spell is “Tamitaya,” which returns people to their homes. It’s commonly referred to as return magic.
Humans: Like most games, you can choose to play as a human. Like other races, they are primarily found in specific parts of the world. Many humans live on the Adonea continent in either Norad or the Sechs Empire.
Earthmates: They are humans who can talk with spirits, and have a special affinity with the land. Crops tend to be plentiful around them. People have to be born as earth-mates; there is no way to become one. Earth-mate blood runs through the royal family of Norad.
Elves: As expected, Elves have long pointy ears, are lithe, and live much longer than humans! They can communicate with spirits and come from two varieties. There are dark and light elves, both hail from Elven kingdoms. They have a high affinity for magic. Due to their long life spans, many of their crafts are well refined. They’re known for producing gorgeous jewelry and engravings.
Dwarves: Surprisingly, dwarves aren’t much shorter than people; some even reach an average human height. They have pointy ears and similar facial features to elves. However, they’re a bit stockier. They live longer than humans. Dwarven culture holds crafts, like forging, in high regard. It’s common for dwarves in a clan to share a single defining feature, like silver eyes.
Univir: They’re highly magical beings whose main source of magic comes from a horn that grows out the center of their heads. They too have pointy ears and live much longer than humans. They value knowledge and tend to wear capes.
Mermaids: They maintain a human form while on land, but sport tails as soon as they reach the water. Not much is known about them, but they seem unaware of many land species’ customs.
Vampires: They live off blood, become sleepy in the daylight, and have bad reactions to garlic. They can enter the minds of those they drink from. Not much else is known about them.
Witches and wizards: All races can use magic, but the majority of Norad’s populace do not practice using it. It’s difficult to learn. Many magician’s run apothecaries and clinics. Fortune tellers are common too.
Half Monsters: Not much is known about them, but they’re people of any species who can transform into monsters at will.

Name: Melanie, but prefers Mimi
Age: 17
Race and occupation: Human, Witch
Personality:
Melanie is a very bouncy and talkative girl who will befriend almost anyone instantly. She seems to not know the bounds of talking, and by the time she's done talking, you already know her name, her cat, everything about Crescent town, and how to create a basic healing potion! She is seemingly always happy, despite some failures due to quite a few things, including her clumsiness and forgetfulness.
Bio: Mimi started studying to become a witch when she was about 6. She was moved from her parents home to her sister Selena's bar, where she continued, albeit disastrously, to study. She may seem happy to talk about anything, there is a subject she refuses to speak of. When she was 14, a group of aggressive hunter wolves attacked her town, injuring several people. The adults managed to fight them off, but Mimi was devastated that she as an aspiring witch, could do nothing but sit and watch. She herself was attacked by one of the wolves, and she acquired a scar above her hip, and a slight phobia of wolves. After the attack, she left her hometown to train as a better witch, fighting off monsters that attacked towns and escorting people, as well as practicing her magic. She just arrived at Ekrem, and has decided to stay awhile in the town.
Rumio: Mimi's cat. He can talk, and often aids Mimi on her quest.

Being an Inn keeper has also caused him to be very social and accepting of others. He has even openly exclaimed of being a vampire. However, he has proven that he keeps well fed by hunting wild animals and feeding off of them. He is also very knowledgeable about body language and will openly tell someone how they appear to be. Being an inn keeper, he is used to giving advice over a wide variety of problems and is always willing to help.

Name: Amelia Alison Averyonna. Don't call her AAA.
Gender: Female
Age: She's forgotten her true age. Appearance wise, she's only 11.
Race: Vampire
Job: Gardener/Mage
Personality: Amelia is a shy and reclusive girl who rarely interacts with other inhabitants of the village, a fact that is not helped by her odd sleeping hours. She rarely ever leaves her tome, an old, decrepit tower on the outskirts of the city and even when she does she rarely leaves until everyone else is asleep. On the rare occasion she can interact with someone she is very formal and polite and can sometimes show the results of her extended life span. When asked about her past Amelia is quick to grow quiet or flee, keeping it a secret from all but her closest of friends, if one can grow that close to her at all.
Amelia is very sensitive about her appearance, especially her 'wings', which she hates having pointed out.
The only way to make Amelia angry is the threaten her tower. When it was set for demolition in the past the normally passive and gentle vampire has used some very impressive magic to destroy anyone who has come too close. Once the threat to it is ended she calms down quickly and allows others to come and go as they please, so long as they don't bother her.
History: An inhabitant of the city of Ekrem for at least 100 years, Amelia's past is a big mystery to the town. It is also a tragic one.
Amelia's parents where traveling merchants and took their only daughter with them on their travels, no matter how treacherous they might be. The young vampire enjoyed seeing the variety of places they would visit and the cultures that surrounded the places they visited. The end result of this was a happy, peaceful but relatively adventurous life. Sadly, they life would come to a very sudden and violent end.
When Amelia's family was traveling to Ekrem 100 years ago, they were ambushed by bandits. The ensuing battle resulted in the death of her parents before her very eyes and Amelia being taken away by force as they were left for the birds to feast on. The bandits would take her to a cave where she would be sold to a scientist who would take her to his lab within the city. There she was subjected to cruel experiments, one of which resulted in the grafting of the pair of wings she has.
Eventually the people of the town found out and the scientist was arrested. Though the people tried to take her in, Amelia simply flew into the night and took shelter in the tower she still resides in to this day. With some help in the beginning, she has managed to get comfortable and find a nice, peaceful and stable life in the tower.
Name: Hikarou
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Race: Human
Occupation: Doctor
Personality: Serious. Hikarou is serious. That's the perfect word to describe him. Being raised in a competitive household, Hikarou grew up concentrating on whatever he's doing, whether it may be his studies or his hobbies. He can't be bothered when he's in the middle of something. He will make all tasks a competition between him and himself. Because of this, Hikarou rarely made friends with anyone due to his serious, competitive attitude. Beyond that, no one actually knows what Hiakrou is like, even his family. He is seen staring outside the hospital's window most of the time and envying people with company.
History: Being raised in a competitive family, Hikarou didn't decide what he would do in the future. His father did. With 4 successful brothers, one well-known for being a beast tamer, another known for his crafting skills, and the other two being shop owners in another town, Hikarou aims to be successful himself like his brothers. He never really felt love from his parents. Rather, he felt pressure. He was always under pressure to follow his brothers' steps. After finishing school, he immediately found a job due to his high remarks that was brought by his family's pressure to him. Guess the experience wasn't so bad? No. Now, he's struggling to fit in because he never really got to socialize with other people nor beings. Hopefully, he finds what he has long sought for in Ekrem, company.
Name: Korag
Gender: Male
Age: 120 years (Or something. I haven't got a clue of what the appropriate age for a dwarf in the equivalent to the human early 20s would be, so I went with that)
Occupation: Blacksmith/Tinker
Appearance: First off, Korag's a dwarf, which means he has long, pointy ears. A short mess of black hair that refuses to be tamed frames his face, in stark contrast with his large, lavender eyes and extremely pale skin that speak of little contact with sunlight. Being of light build, his muscles are nowhere as large as they would be on a human blacksmith, being visible as slightly pronounced contours only instead of the bulging, though those who underestimate his strength are quickly surprised, as he's capable of moving about boxes full of ingots without any issues. He usually wears plain clothes that cover his whole body, and will often be found in his smithing gear, consisting of a simple brown T-shirt and pants of the same colour, both of them heavily singed and even burnt through in some points, and a heavy leather overall over them.
Personality: Generally speaking, Korag's rather quiet and on the shy side, preferring to avoid contact with people he doesn't know and attention in general. He's easy enough to get along with once you get past that, though, since he enjoys making others happy. When his craft is involved, however, his passion for it overwhelms the rest of impulses - he might spend hours talking with a blacksmith he just met about techniques when he'd normally not cross more than a couple of words with them, or he might spend days locked inside his forge toiling away at his latest idea, in an almost obsessive way.
Half-monster traits: When under stress or by personal choice, Korag transforms into a strange creature. About the same height as him, covered in a short, bristly black fur that helps him sense his immediate surroundings, lacking eyes and with a very powerful, large nose atop a mouth full of blunt teeth, this form is extraorinarily adapted to living underground. Its short, stocky hindlegs are compensated by extremely long arms that reach to the floor, rippling with muscles to allow it to dig with relative ease, aided by equally large claws, though these are adapted to serve as digging instruments and not killing tools - when put together, they form a flat surface much like a shovel, with the added benefit that their sharp tips help in the first few strikes to break the surface. Added to that, the flat of the claws is usually covered in a weak acid, which lets the creature liquify stones in its path and use them to strengthen the tunnel's walls once they recover their solid state. Of course, this form is all fine and good underground... but above the surface it's completely blind, relying only on the whims of the wind for its sense of smell, and the short radius around it where it can sense tremors. As can be imagined, Korag's not all that fond of this shape.
Name: Yuen
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Race: Human
Occupation: Grocer and Earthmate
Personality: Yuen is a very quiet person, and there's a good reason for that. He's mute! However, his personality is anything but quiet- He uses hand gestures and facial expressions to communicate, and is very skilled at writing. He hates being teased, and is easily embarrassed. However, he can also be very kind and understanding, and is secretly shy around girls, unable to talk to them and stuff. Holland tries to help him out, however, it's not always clear whether he's actually trying to aid the poor boy, or tease him for his own amusement.
History: Yuen's parents were important figures in his home village, far to the south east. His mother was a monster hunter, and his father an Earthmate and chief. A cautious child by nature, Yuen was only ten years old when his friends dragged him along to a forbidden part of the woods near their village, one where monsters were known to reside. However, things took a desperate turn when the group stumbled into the path of a wounded Blood Panther. Abandoned by his friends, Yuen was attacked by the beast, having his throat slashed and body mangled. It was only by luck that a hunting patrol was nearby, following the injured monster, and came across the fleeing children. Yuen was saved, but more dead than alive. He was brought home, and the wounds on his body would eventually heal, but his voice never returned.
He didn't let it keep him down though, learning how to read and write in Elvish and Runes, a hobby while he recovered. His friends felt guilty for his fate, and never bullied him again, visiting him often when he was recuperating. Determined not to be caught again, Yuen insisted on being trained how to fight, eventually persuading his parents to teach him how to use his abilities. Ten years later, he set out on his own, wanting to travel and make his own path in the world. Along the way, he met Holland, after saving him from a couple of unfriendly cats, and hasn't been able to be rid of him since. Eventually, he learned that one of his uncles had recently passed, and being childless, had left his general store to Yuen. Now 23, he moved into the town, letting Holland manage the register while he stocks it with supplies.
Likes: Fighting, writing, reading, and candy(hush that's a secret).
Dislikes: Spicy and bitter foods, cats, teasing, and fish.
Holland: A beautiful rare sky bird, Holland claims to be a prince under a witch's curse, one that can only be broken by the accumulation of 1,000,000 gold. Of course, there is no evidence to back up this claim, and knowing his penchant for lying, it's probably untrue. He loves teasing Yuen and trying to hook him up with girls.
