Hello, all. Thank you very much for your interest in this project, and I hope to see it live up to your expectations. If you're wondering why this is in the "Advanced" section, it's because it was recently pointed out to me that due to my high standards of post type, this is where it belongs. However, post length remains at the "Casual" RP level, though I would like to see high quality. Quality over quantity.

Here in the OOC
Here, you may talk if you want, chat if you want, complain if you want, etc, but you may not share info of your party's whereabouts or any other related information... at least, I'd prefer if you didn't for the sake of the RPs continuity. I may, however, provide you with the opportunity to do so if said continuity is compromised and could benefit from it. If situations to do with the RP are changed or compromised, I will also share it here.

Over in the IC
The IC is essentially a place for some of Galileo's role-playing as well as the Labyrinth's itself when it applies to all or multiple parties. Due to this, subscribing to this thread is crucial. Also due to this, your parties will be given names (that will be revealed to you in the party's messages) so you know what information applies to you. I cannot stop you from reading information that does not apply to your party, but do your best to avoid using it through meta-gaming.

Parties and Party Messages
While we're on the topic of parties, you should all know that your preference of being in one was taken into account, but was not necessarily the deciding factor on your starting party, or lack thereof. Obviously, no aspect of a party is permanent: you may switch parties (or join them) however you like if and when you encounter others. This of course is if they allow you to; everyone here is already a stranger. In fact, as a role-player you should know you have no reason to stay with your starting party whatsoever and may disband right away if that is what you wish. However, every message thread that involves parties must be started by me and will all have the same beginning tagline of [The Summoner's Labyrinth] to keep things organized. When parties meet, I will create a separate message thread for it. Yes, this game will fill your inbox, but you should've known that going in.

OOC in party messaging will simply be done in OOC brackets, [which you might be familiar with if you've role-played in certain formats], but if you're not it's done just like that. Anything you want to say out-of-character is typed in brackets, or if your group prefers I'll make an OOC for your group, but I find that to be inefficient and am a huge fan of [OOC brackets] as they are a time and space saver. Again, if you are not as much a fan, I apologize and we can make an OOC for your party.

PvP
Some may argue that it's not technically a 'PvP' game, but it does involve it and so it must contain some guidelines for when it inevitably happens. Most are very basic, but it's best we be clear on things so that this, the part of the project with the most variables, goes well:

  • Discussion during combat is crucial. I don't need to see your discussion, so obviously PMing the person on the receiving end is optimal, but really as long as the discussion gets done. Warning shots and the like are free game, however.

  • Use wording such as "fires at", "rushes at", "compels to", and so on. You cannot control someone else's character and choose their fate or actions, and must leave space for reaction.

  • Following with the above, be reasonable on the receiving end as well. As you all should know by now, I leveled your characters to the same floor/roof so you would be equal matches for each other. You are not above anyone in all categories, so you cannot play God-mod forever and never take a hit. If something fits all reason to happen to you, you should accept it.

  • As the GM (Galileo-Man!), I obviously reserve the right to make you accept certain fates. However, I am not fond of watching you die unnecessarily and will reflect that.

  • NPCs are technically a "public use" set of characters. However, the owner/creator of the NPC always has precedent over their property.

  • Honestly, when considering PvP fighting, just think about what's fair and you should be fine.

Alterations in the Labyrinth
This plane of existence is not your characters element, regardless of who you are, so you do not know all that happens here -- I suggest getting used to playing confused. Some of you have been told some things that you will notice immediately, or possibly notice later, and some of you may never see any changes depending on your actions, though it's highly unlikely. Most of these changes are not character specific and they are for everyone, but that doesn't mean it will effect you enough for you or your character to ever know. No one is stopping your character from sharing their discovered information, as well. Also, some characters were altered when they entered by our great arcane -- if this has happened to your character, I've already told you or will tell you before you enter.

Continuity and Flow
It should be noted that, seeing as this is a party-style RP that I will be overseeing, that I am essentially playing a tabletop RPG GM in addition to controlling Galileo. Some of you may or may not be used to it, but if you've ever had a GM tell you something does, can, or can't happen and oversees the game in that fashion, it's pretty much just that factor in consistency with the addition that I will be describing your environment. As I have you all mapped, I can't exactly allow you to free roam in description of most places, but it will happen I am sure, as long as you are understanding. Ultimately, I am the Labyrinth and my actions will be your situation.

Welcome to The Summoner's Labyrinth Project.

In the invites, I've expressed my concern for those returning and people rejecting how this must flow. To that point, if reading this deters you from the idea and you are leaving, please let me know.

Support feels nice 'cause I'm extremely self-conscious about this. xD That also brings me to the point of suggestions: make'em. You're all apart of this project, too, and anything you think doesn't fit or can be done better is open to a certain degree of change!

We need to catalog our PMs very precisely, with all the different story lines with so many characters, it sounds potentially messy with parties splitting up and partially reforming before breaking up again. Also, the chronology of all the events is going to be a pain to keep track on with players meeting up at different points in the game and stuff, especially if a character keeps jumping around parties or if someone does something to have a lasting impact on the labyrinth. Maybe have time markers every now and again so that the characters can have events happening to them relative to in game time instead of character- specific events?

I think this is a great idea! And can't wait to give it a go. The one thing I'm a little worried about is the leaving a party, since you can't actually leave a PM conversation...

Also, for the chronology, there was an rp I was in where every post would have the current time and place of the action occurring and if it changed, that would be clearly stated separately from the IC text before the post continued. That would probably be helpful here, at least, mentioning the time. That way it isn't all on our GM to keep track of that as well. Though I'm not sure how specific we'd want to be about it. Whether just saying something like evening, or morning, or maybe 1 hour from arrival(though I think they aren't all arriving at the same time, are they?) Anyway, if that can be figured out satisfactorily for everyone, it would probably be a good idea. :) Having the time markers, not necessarily what I just said. ;)

Having this thread's IC act as a IC OOC would be pretty cool.

Essentially your character is a hologram in a lobby, or hangs out as a dream-version while they're actually asleep or something. It'd be a pretty big game-changer, since it allows people to connect where otherwise they'd be isolated, but it may be worth some consideration. Maybe a special rule where you don't remember what goes on in there when you wake up/exit, so you can allow for the chatting without actually connecting people.

Welp I am certainly interested. I've never done an rp like this before, now to get over the fact that my PM box will explode.

I would suggest that leaving a team should have a good enough reason since you can't leave a PM conversation, meaning a person that has jumped multiple parties will have real trouble.

It's only Advanced due to the complexity of the roleplay itself, not due to the individual expectations for the players.

Oh no! I hope he reads that, Komamisa. I'ma message him 'cause I don't like losing people. >_> And I agree about people leaving parties, but I couldn't think of a way around it other than starting a new one for those still in the party.... hm, I suppose since my inbox is already packed I didn't really view it as such a problem and I apologize.

While I can't control anyone's decisions, Ionion is right: for the sake of this RP and people who like inbox space, please do not party jump without valid reasoning. Again, this is why I left this up for a bit (unfortunately I fell asleep and it was longer than expected). This is entirely experimental and being up to the task from the start is important. I apologize for the inconveniences it's going to cause, but I'm confident that if this game goes as expected it will be well worth it. ^-^

Hmm... actually, Ziogen, that doesn't seem like a bad idea. Something like that could be applied at any point, I suppose, so I'll keep working on it while we go.

It won't be long now, I promise, though I can't guarantee when your group will start. Now that you've all been partied up, I have to get the attention of everyone in a party before I can start them.

I was gonna wait 24 hours but I think 21-22 is enough, so I'm posting the IC now, and you should all know it's just a minor prelude to the individual party intros. Also, an old thing I forgot to say and new thing:

After all groups have been activated, I will put all characters in the IC for reference purposes only. This will make it easier when you meet other groups or people and we don't have to keep sharing them, and it'll be your job to find out who is who outside of your group (unless you don't want to know) when you come upon them. I suppose you can look at them before then, but using any information on someone's sheet is not allowed unless it's been shared IC so I'd prefer you didn't. To this point, I have a question: Should I post abilities and biographies too or just some basic information like I was planning on? (The questions I had you add will not be in the entry)

Secondly, I think about a week or two (time will honestly depend on how quickly your post times are) I'll create individual game-threads for each party. I'm not doing so until a certain time has passed for reasons I feel are important enough that I'm willing to flood all of our inboxes, but mostly for observation and privatization of the starting parts and also because I expect most group departures to be at the beginning (which you should also keep in mind when it starts to annoy you). While we're in messages, however, I will be making a game-thread for every time groups meet.

Edit: *Finally posts one hour later* I took out a section and split it around a bit. I'm pretty sure I'm just making it worse, but I can't stop editing stuff. xD And it doesn't seem like any group is completely here... that's unfortunate. I am probably going to start one anyway, seeing as I've only given one day of notice and I can't expect everyone to be on as much as me -- usually people have stuff to do. >_>
