Chrystella stayed silent and looked out the window and just stared. She waited for the singing to stop before she answered Marduk. She continued to stare out the window while she spoke. "They are... as safe as I am Marduk." Came her soft response and she finally turned to him. "You say they are practically human? Well then I guess I am too. We share the same likeness as the humans. We laugh, cry, hate and love, just as much as they do. We were their brethren once long ago..." A distant look came over her and she turned back to the window. "We shared the world together, there was peace. For awhile, then a religious monarch decided that we were cursed and must be burnt in repentance of our birth. You have heard the history Marduk, but do you know the truth?" Her gaze met his for a moment before she looked back down at her work. The truth had been hidden by hate, but there were those who still knew it.
Marduk looked around before going back to his work, his mind was stirring with emotions and questions but he would bide his tongue, he was sure crystella did know this 'truth' and it probably wasn't her side alone, but he realized now that she really was like a human, but did that mean she acted like them? What kind of animal was he that he would have done the evil he did to those poor, forsaken and doom victims of his. He could see it now, she was as fatalistic as the ones that met there demise by his hands, it was clear to him now that she was very shaken up about this journey. Marduk let out a sigh as he looked at the next tome, not really having a clue what it was. But that didn't matter to him now, the woman that was like an arch angle to him, the one he saw as a perfect being, practically seeing her as a god, as in shamble by something, this brought out the one emotion he had long forgotten, that was true fear.
Marduk's eyes became deep-set and his normal happy-go-lucky smile came to a frown, he hadn't even left and he was already ravaged by the quest ahead, maybe he wasn't cut out for it after all.
"what is the truth?" he said silently, the thought came out unintentionally.
