Yeah, that's the basic gist I for from his sheet. Mostly just nomads wandering it, with some cities here and there. But he does have a rather high population, and I don't think what I assume was ever really stated. So I suppose we need to wait for him to get here himself.

There are other means. Could always play nice. Or have a common political enemy in Grievous.

Oh, that's an interesting little bit of mythology you got in that first post Aaron. I like it. Though I wonder what they believe about elves. Pretty much the same origin as humans? After all, the only real difference is that one has point ears.

Likely. Or it doesn't really matter to them.

Shit, they could mostly be the sort of elves you'd expect in The Witcher and they wouldn't much care. Until Yeaven or Iorveth makes a scene.

I may have to do a bit of game-lore then.

In brief: Yeavinn and Iorveth are both leaders of units of non-human commando units known broadly as the Scoae'tel, known popularly as The Squirrels. They both have varying degrees of passionate hatred for humans, or at least to the "Northern Kingdoms".

In a fuller respect: The Witcher as video game takes place something like five years after the start of a war between the four Northern Kingdoms and the southern human Empire of Nilfgard. Nilfgard made heavy use of light-commando units of Elven and Dwarven composition to harass the Northern Kingdoms and disrupt their war effort. This however fails and Nilfgard is forced to sign a peace which calls for the disarming of the elven commando units and other concessions. In protest however, the elves and dwarven commandos refuse to disarm and continue to fight The North, intensifying persecution against Nonhumans by humans and persecution of humans by nonhumans (or really just swelling their ranks with pissed-off nonhumans).

The first game in the series introduces Geralt - the player - to a elven commander named Yeavinn. As an effect of the shoddy treaty (or as he perceives it) he must keep fighting the humans. There's some other philosophy but it's really broad, and strange, and abstract. I imagine it's hum trying to make himself feel good or look good by talking all metaphorically about his mission. In short: he's a huge dick.

Witcher 2 brings in a new Scoia'tel leader by the name of Iorveth, himself a veteran and well respected commander (Yeavinn is mentioned in the second game a few times, but because the series' themes concerns itself with moral relativity it's done in such a way he could have died or lived after the first game, depending on what you think). Iorveth, though still racist, is more shrouded in relativity than Yeavinn who I think just wants to kill everything with rounded ears.

At introduction I think Iorveth does a better job than Yeavinn could have dreamed.

It's probably because I played Witcher 1 associated with the humans. But playing Witcher 2 sided with the elves makes Iorveth out to have a better developed philosophy and reason for fighting then Yeavinn blabbering about trees and shit.

I don't even have a WIP up yet, but I've already reserved my territory and have a rather solid idea of what I'm going to do for my nation. I'm relatively close to you, just to the south, if you wanted to have some sort of shared history or put some agreeable NPC nations between the two of us.

The editing the map wasn't the issue, it was that the way I was going about uploading it doesn't work. What I'm probably gonna have to do is create an Imgur account and upload it that way. And that's gonna have to wait until Tuesday unfortunately. But thanks for the tip!

You don't need an account to upload things to imgur, I don't think. I use it all the time and I've never signed up for it.

But you're right, such a philosophy stands at odds with man's nature. Furthermore, as my guys are more or less religious nut jobs (although nice ones, at that), they can easily get led astray in a "just cause". An example would be if they saw a country's government committing genocide against its population - the Guide may feel he is in a good position to intervene, and cannot stand by and watch the destruction. However his military intervention then leads to a massive conflict, spanning years, costing thousands upon thousands of lives, until in the end it's not entirely clear whether helping out was a "just cause".

And yeah, the Guide is likely banging 16 chicks behind closed doors whilst the rest of the priesthood are doing some hardcore abstinence.

The real point I wanted to put across, that whilst Adjutor Insula is not a perfect society, it is actively striving to become one. The people there are proud and devoted to their beliefs, on a general level, and things work well on a social scale. However, like I've said, there'll be abuses, and like you've said, there'll be causes for intervention and conflict that are so morally grey they'll sink the nation before it can decide on what to do.

Ha, I recalculated the population density for an area the size of India, taking into account the mostly rocky environment, with ash storms, and got an even higher count XD.

Still I think I'll leave the population level as it is atm, hoping to finish much more of the sheet today.

Well as the overall rule I take to consideration is that a medieval lord can raise an army of 10% of their population (~10% of which would be devoted to offensive operations). Ten percent of 350,000 would be 35,000. So they're not at that limit before they experience long-term economic deficits.

And if they're a sort of holy order with land, then many of those recruits could also be foreign proselytes who came to them for whatever reason: adhering to their faith, needing to start again, whichever. So they could not actually be "natives". Most of these could also pull double-duty, being an island have a trade fleet would be vital to their economy, so some soldiers could pull double-duty as an armed merchant marine: active in the order's mission but keeping the cogs of economy moving and pushing out their exports.
