If you're new, there are some introductory help guides for new players (I forgot where, but it's easy to find out), but if you're new to this thing I recommend you start out on Free Roleplay, where there are essentially no rules on writing skill or minimum paragraphs. After that, it will be easy to advance.

Yes yes, welcome. ^_^ We were all new once, so I most certainly understand the struggle you're about to partake in. However, that doesn't mean you won't succeed!! The first question is what kind of RP do you want to participate in?

I would recommend casual for starters. It's usually quite light hearted and people seem to be nice there.

...EDIT: Derp on my part. Since you already started in casual, once you get a feel for things, try out the Advanced Section! It's the best, in my opinion. ^_~
