Also I would like to confirm the Shogun 2 AI is really dumb sometimes. Like... if I auto-played a certain battle (not a siege; I suck at sieges so leave them to the AI) it would sacrifice six units I can only replace in one province in their entirety. I play the damn thing, most of them don't even get hurt.

Also sad the game wants me to apparently have about eight armies at any one time by this stage. I need to cut down on the number of enemies I have... which shouldn't be too hard as only one of them actually has anywhere near a sustainable number of provinces.

Shogun 2 doesn't work like that. :p

I rely on matchlocks, so I don't have a bunch of archers to shoot flaming arrows to break the gate so I can just charge in to the inevitable slaughterfest. XD

I find siege battles much easier to mainly use archers and whittle down their forces as much as possible before charging in with melee. Even melee can burn down the gate if they get up close, not just flaming arrows.
