An Outsider A Glorious Failure

The Justice League is getting older in 2021. While most of it's founding members are in their early to mid-forties, Superman himself still looks nearly the same he had over a decade prior. The League had gone through several incarnations over the years. There were also splinter units like the Justice League of America and the JL United, as well as the JL Dark led by none other than John Constantine. In the year 2021 however, heroic metahumans are in the decline. Most alien races that don't appear to be human are often shunned by society, the now more alien Green Lantern from the planet Tandax is banned from Earth. The economy in the United States is still fighting a losing battle. Crime rates, especially metahuman crime, was up a record 120% from this time in 2010. Law Enforcement have began to equip themselves more in keeping for the time, wearing heavier armour and wielding state of the art non-lethal AND lethal weaponry. Most metahumans operating as heroes are not welcomed by all of the 2021 law enforcers. Only the League has been officially sanctioned by the President of the 'States: Clara Kendall. Young heroes have been 'sponsored' by the remaining members of the League to operate in Star City, the former home of the now deceased Green Arrow and one of the larger metropolitan cities with increased metahuman crime. The Young Justice program has kept many a young superhuman from going rogue. Can the young heroes take back Star City from the grips of chaos and become full fledged members of the Justice League?

Based in an alternate DC universe, taking broad strokes from the Young Justice, classic comics and the New 52, YJ2021 is a game were, as a new teen hero mentored by one of the League, you join the Young Justice team. Take note that YJ2021 is a game currently in progress, and your character would be getting pulled in the deep end in the middle of a crises.

Interested? Either submit a character application (CS skeleton found below) or contact me by PM.

Edit; Only looking for one or two more players!

Well, I'm certainly interested. However, before I start working on a CS, I would like to know if I could play a rogue teen hero who could serve as a re-occurring villain who may (or may not) join Young Justice later on?

That's a concept that has been bounced around a few times, but has ultimately been considered off limits for the moment.

Ah okay. Sounds fair.

Well, okay, I'll start working on a heroic character. For sponsors, is Wonder Woman available? I can understand if she isn't.

Wonder Woman is still around, but she is currently on Paradise Isle, fufilling her role as its queen. Her place on the League has been taken by her one time foe Giganta. If your wanting Wonder Woman as a mentor though PM me with your concept and we'll see if we can work something out.

@Shard, Couple of things pal. What levels of arcane energy does Leo wield, is he a gifted child prodigy with magic, or a simple layman? And what do you mean by physical manifestations? I'd also like to know more about the coven Leo came from, in particular how they can be considered corrupt, like what sort of things do they do that drove Leo away, and why do they still hunt him? Then why did Zatanna find him interesting, what sort of things did he do to merit her attention?

The last bit is just a small thing, but we're not the Titans. We're simply called the team, like in the Young Justice cartoon.

Name:
Kendra Martin

Alias:
Cassandra (though she used to go by the alias 'Foresight')

Age:
18

Sponsor:
Wonder Woman

Personality:
Kendra is a very delicate person, though she tries her best to hide it. When in the company of others, particularly strangers, she is cold, aloof, and distant. She'll never trust a person she's just met, and will tend to keep information to herself unless absolutely necessary. Information is power, after all, and with her particular abilities, Kendra likes to keep up an act that she has more information than everyone else room, and is therefore in the position of power. She will belittle others, speaking her thoughts in situations of danger and commanding that others listen to what she has to say. After all, SHE'S the one who sees the future. She can be rude, insulting, insensitive, and will even use her cruel cunning in order to make others see her way. She does this partly because she's very proud and doesn't want to admit she's wrong, but also because, beneath her ice cold exterior, Kendra feels extremely vulnerable. She is almost completely controlled by her fears and wants to gain control over the world around her. That's why she became a hero, after all: she wants to help others so that, in the end, she can ultimately help herself. However, this constant struggle just tends to make her more agitated with herself and everyone around her. Secretly, she's very lonely and really wants to get close to others, but is afraid of relying on other people. And, considering the fact she's had to recently rely a lot on the help of the Justice League and Wonder Woman, she's become even more bitter and agitated over the past year, and her cold persona has taken hold of her life even more.

Powers:
Kendra has the power of foresight, though her visions are not completely reliable or concrete. She can access these visions voluntarily by meditation, usually accompanied by incenses. She can even control what she sees by thinking of a certain person, place or event that she knows is going to happen. These visions can vary from extremely vivid to brief and unhelpful, and, as the future isn't written in stone, it can be changed based on the decisions people make or plan to make.

She also occasionally has involuntary visions sometimes when she's awake, but these are only related to her personal future, usually some form of danger and always only a few milliseconds before the danger hits, giving her little time to react.

Weaknesses:
Kendra has no other powers besides her foresight, and therefore is physically weaker than most heroes, usually having to rely on her wits during a bad situation. Prior to her time with Wonder Woman, she had no combat training, and though Wonder Woman has taught her how to fight, even giving her a spear, Kendra will always struggle in battle.

Aside from her physical weaknesses, Kendra will also have difficulty getting on with others (as seen in her personality section), may have trouble working in a team, and, in some situations, if the danger she is fighting against appears to be too powerful, may suffer from a minor panic attack that she temporarily unable in a fight.

Appearance:
Kendra is very short. About 5'4", to be exact. She's also quite scrawny, though she has gained a little muscle from her time training at Paradise Isle. She has blonde hair that is so long she could practically sit on it, though she often has it tied up in a plait. Her skin is pale, though she has gain some sun from her time with the amazons, and her face has a light sprinkling freckles. She has narrow hazel eyes that always seem to be set into a glare, a tiny snub of a nose, slightly crooked teeth with a prominent gap between her front two teeth.

In battle, she wears silver armour similar to what the amazons wear, but also wears a green long-sleeved vest and green leggings underneath it as she feels the armour to be too revealing (not to mention impractical). She also sometimes wears her old Foresight costume casually, which is a green dress with a hood with an eye symbol sewn into the front and thick black leggings. She also always wears a silver locket around her neck which has a picture inside, though she rarely shows it to anyone, often keeping it concealed beneath her clothes.

Brief Bio:
Kendra was not born with her powers. In fact, up until the age of 14, she lived a fairly normal albeit lonely life. She was an only child and her parents both worked full-time jobs, often meaning they would not be back before Kendra came home from school. Being shy and socially awkward as a child, she had very few friends. However, she did have one friend, a very close friend: Juliet Silverman. Kendra and Juliet were as close as two people could be. "Like sisters," Juliet often said, though, as Kendra got older (around age 13) and began to hit puberty, she started to wonder if it was more than that, if her feelings for Juliet extended beyond friendship, if she... loved Juliet.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the supervillain and terrorist Snafu (my character and, no, he will not be popping up in this RP) entered the picture, when he blew up the local police station. Juliet's father was a policeman and Juliet had been there visiting her father when the station was attacked. Juliet's father and a couple of other police man somehow manage to escape with minimal injury, but, alas, Juliet did not. Kendra was devastated. Her best friend, her only real friend, had been killed. For the next few months of so, she locked herself up in her room, not going to school or talking to anyone. Her parents, who were never good at dealing with their daughter, decided to leave her alone, believing she would get better in time. However, what they didn't know was that ever since Juliet's death, Kendra had started to become obsessed with occult and spiritualism. She began researching on necromancy and demonology, hoping to find some way to bring her friend back. After much searching, she finally found something, stories about a demon known as Mammon, the demon of greed who would grant a human's greatest desire, albeit for a price. Kendra didn't care about any 'price', she was too young to understand about consequences and too possessed by her grief.

So she summoned the demon Mammon and asked for him to bring her friend back. However, Mammon confessed that, despite his powers, he could not revive the dead, yet he did say that he would gladly grant any other request Kendra desired. Kendra was upset... "If only I could see the future," she said. "I could have prevented it... I could have saved her." She didn't mean that as a request, but Mammon decided to interpret it as such. "As you wish," he said, and with a click of his fingers, he was gone, though Kendra begged him to return.

It was only a couple of days later that Kendra's powers began to make themselves known, first showing when she managed to save a little girl from getting run over by a speeding car. A few days past, each day passing with Kendra's powers resurfacing and allowing her to help other people. She couldn't control them and wasn't sure what to do with them, but she was grateful for them nonetheless. They gave her a purpose, a reason to keep going even though Juliet wasn't there anymore. She couldn't save Juliet, but she could save others. Of course, everything comes with a price, and Kendra soon got a second visit from Mammon a month later. He told her the powers he gave her was a taster and if she wanted, she could keep them for the rest of life... she agreed that, once she was at the age of 20, she would come to the underworld with him and become his bride. Kendra was a little frightened, and yet, she didn't want to give up her powers. So she agreed. "See you in six years," he said with a grin, and vanished again.

For the next year, she used her powers to save others, fighting crime as the vigilante Foresight, at the time NOT sponsored by the League, which meant she was not trusted or liked in the public eye. She particularly made it a personal matter to deal with the villain Snafu, using her powers to catch him and lock him away for good. But her last battle with Snafu was a close call, and she decided that it was too dangerous for her to continue, so she instead settled on sending anonymous tips to the police and letting them deal with it. It was only at the age of 17 did she start to worry about her deal with Mammon and began to regret it, knowing she only had three more years before he would come to collect. She tried to summon him in an attempt to call off the deal, but no matter how many times she tried, the demon would not appear. It seemed there was nothing she could do... at least, not by herself. It was then she decided to contact the Justice League and asked them to help. They were unsure of what to do at first, until they decided that the best course of action was to send her to Wonder Woman, who was now ruling over the Paradise Isles with the other Amazons, believing that only could Wonder Woman protect but also teach Kendra to protect herself.

Kendra has now lived at Paradise Isles for about a year, training under Wonder Woman, as well acting as a soothsayer for the queen. Back home, her parents do not know where she has gone and she been written off as a 'missing person'. Kendra feels this is for best. She doubts her parents will believe her anyhow. Kendra has also discarded her old identity of Foresight and changed her alias to 'Cassandra', after the Greek soothsayer. In fact, Kendra seems to have adopted the name Cassandra as though it were her real name, asking Wonder Woman and the other Amazons to refer to her as 'Cassandra', and prefers that to 'Kendra', as she feels that that life is behind her now. Still, she keeps a reminder of her past: a small picture of her old friend Juliet, which she keeps in a silver locket that Juliet gave her for her 13th birthday, so many years ago.

Of course, there's trouble going down in Star City, and Kendra has known about it for a long time. She's tried to ignore it, but the visions keep coming. Wonder Woman is considering sending her student to the Young Justice, hoping the girl may be of some use. Only time will tell if that's the case.

I'm interested, and I'd like to do a flash style character. However, I'd like for him to be more closely related to Eobard Thawne(Reverse Flash during Barry's days) and have to deal with that.

I'm going to go ahead and post a link to the OOC so everyone can get a better grasp at what they'll be getting into. The game itself is the first sequel to the Young Justice 2020 game that continues our paths as heroes into the roster of something as grande as the Justice League proper. There's a link to the 2020 game in the 2021 OOC, a breakdown of events that happened in between the two games, as well as an up to date list of characters. While I'm on hiatus BlackSam will take over but I'll still try and make edits to the opening OOC and IC posts as far as team roster and GM Notes and such.

YJ 2021 OOC

EDIT: Most of the current team save for two more of the female members are pictured below in my sig image!

Brief Bio:
Born and Raised in New Orleans Wyatt was odd... to say the least. Unlike most boys in his city who loved sports or gaming, Wyatt liked.. Birds. From a young age, Wyatt would go explore the swamps and attempt to find the best birds he could. He tried to find all types of birds, swans, cardinals, even blue jays, where he got his name from. His normal life changed quickly though. The time he discovered his powers was, he was exploring the swamp when something bit his leg, something. An alligator.

Wyatt Screamed as suddenly he felt his arms grow and his body expand. He flew upwards on instinct and he actually started flying. He looked down at his body and saw that his body looked like a human, but he most of the parts of a blue jay. Now the mind of the 12 year old Wyatt was confused, he flew up higher, thinking that maybe it was a dream and that he wasn't a bird but even though he went higher, he still stayed in the form. The gator had fallen off about the time he finally revised this was actually going on.

Wyatt knew that going back to New Orleans would be suicide, so he didn't, instead, he went flying around Louisiana to a small town called Alexandria. Once there, he started honing his skills, attack thieves, murderers, and all types of small villains. With his powers he thought he was unbeatable.

On his 16th Birthday, Hawkman came to visit him. He stated that he needed someone to carry on his legacy and that Wyatt was perfect for the job. One year later Hawkman gifted Wyatt a katana. Wyatt (Who was operating under birdman at the time) took the name Blue Jay under Hawkman. Since then he has been training under Hawkmans Wing (get it).

@Balena_Rex, Couple things pal. First off the powers, why can a part-man, part-bird blast electricity from his palms? Is this an ability he picked up on the course of his career, or is it something he's always had? I'd like a little more explanation into that one. Also, why a sword? It seems tacked on.

The other thing, and this is my fault for not mentioning it before, is that Hawkman already has a mentee, my character Fenrir. Thats not a problem really, as each mentor can sponser two students, but we'll just have to iron out a story for that one. I'll edit the first post here to show which characters we already have in the team, their powers and their mentors so it's less confusing for future applicants.

Kk, I just added the lightning as my character was kind of inspired by wasp from marvel who can blast lightning out of her hands. so yeah. And the sword is just because Hawkman had a weapon and he gifted it to Blue Jay.
