Name: Anthony

Age: Looks like late 20's, but has lived for hundreds of years

Sex: Male

Appearance: (I couldn't find a picture.) Humanoid, exactly 6'. Medium build, with blue spikey-ish hair, a black bandana to keep his hair out of his face, tanned skin, and a bare chest and abdoman. Dark brown pants with a black belt similar to the bandana on his head. No shoes.

Powers/Skills/Weaponry: Despite his lack of armor, Anthony is extremely durable. His skin is as tougher than tempered steel, and protected against some magic. Anthony wields an indestructible scythe around 1-and-1/2' long, which can be stored in a safe place and summoned at will at any time. He also has a bow and quiver with an infinite number of arrows. This also has the same summoning and storage ability. His scythe and arrows aren't normal, though. They are extremely sharp and the arrows fly very fast, and both have the ability to charge to different kinds of magic. Once a magic type has been used, it cannot be re-used for a minute. They are as follows:
Fire, creates an inferno one landed.
Ice, freezes the target for a short period of time.
Earth, slows the target for about twice as long as the ice magic lasts.
Wind, create (Very powerful) random gusts of wind around the target.
Sun, blind the target for a short period.
Moon, cause whoever was hit to hallucinate for a short time.
Lightning, summon a lightning bolt near the target.
Rain, an immense amount of water appears near the target.

Deity

Name: Beth

Sex: Female

Appearance: (Again, no picture. Sorry.) Beth has a beautiful face, with emerald-green eyes and light brown hair extending to her knees. She wears a simple white cloth garb and an amulet with a sapphire around her neck.

Domains: Harvest, farming, hunting, food, the seasons, the weather.

Combined

Alignment: Neutral. Very simply, enjoy life to the fullest, and do what you must to survive.

History: Beth came into power through a divine ritual, one that once she used, could not become undone by any means. And strangely, all information (Books, scrolls, etc.) regarding this ritual vanished soon after Beth attained her godly form. She began manipulating the behavior of plants, animals and weather, just to mess with the other gods. This led to the creations of the seasons, farming and hunting. The other gods didnt like this, though, and so Beth created Anthony to battle for control for her. Anthony has lost his fair share of battles, but his only battles to date are against creatures that Beth creates.Other:

My scuicide charge wAs extremely stupid ^_^ thanks for noticing. I was trying to think of something that would be NEARYLY straight scuicide, and would have been laughable had it worked.

On a seperate note, i was expecting LESS powerfull oponents, so i might have to make a different char sheet. Frankly, the teenage girls i entered were the result of 3 days with a total of 2 hours sleep between them. They are totaly useless individually, and together are still only "Eeeehhhhh" compared to other characters. Seriously, my idea for a big attack was refracting Sol's light trough Priroda's crystals for a lazer... That would take several turns to set up, during which time othe people would either destroy them, or lobb off several of their own projectiles. So yeah... Imma get a drawing set up, and a cs going.

I dont know bout light, but im sure that if both us co-gm's accept you you will be able to participate, and upon lights return, make any corrections he ask for. What i recommend you change on your cs sheet is as follows:

  • Organization-
  • The powers are a big bulking paragraph. Its not necissary, and you will likely be accepted either way, but seperating those abilities the way you did the elemental effects of arrows would greatly help the overall flow of your cs.
  • Pritective skin
  • - What will it protect against, and to what degree? Will it make you immune to certain effects? Etc. details especially reguarding defenses are crucial in an arena RP. Especially one so broad. The comparison you made of tempered steel was great to describe physical resistance.
  • The Scythe-
  • I have a few comments reguarding the scythe. You mentione its length. Does that referre to blade length, or handle length? My second comment only exist because Heriman exist. Since heriman can alter things with his magic, would your scythe be suseptible to that?
  • Summoning Weapons
  • - This probably goes without saying, but you should mention that you cant summon a weapon INSIDE someone, and where it CAN be summoned. Dont worry, i often forget this detail as well.
  • The bow-
  • What speed do the projectiles accelerate at, and can you use multiple elements at once?
  • fire-
  • How large and hot is the inferno?
  • Ice
  • How long does the freeze last
  • Earth
  • How much slower, and how long will it last?
  • Sun
  • How long will they be blind for? Are there any variables affecting this?
  • Moon
  • Again, how long will this last. How powerfull are the hallucinations? Are they psycosomatic (so powerfull that what they do ACTUALLY EFFECTS the victim. Getting hit by one is actually getting hit).
  • Other-
  • The ther section is bunched into your history section. I advice hitting enter 1-3x to space that out, or simply removing it.

WHOLLY SHYT! I WAS TALKING OUT MY ASS WHILST EXHAUSTED AND TRYING TO SOUND INTELLIGENT! XD

I reread that now, and i may be exhausted, but besides spelling errors, i feel pretty durn gud about that critique xD. Glad to help man! How bout you pm me more details of the characters, ill draw them to the best of my ability and slap em on my devianart account? (jynxs131312) yes thats a two on the end, that is in fact not a typo, though it was when i originally created the account. You may check out my previous drawings there. Speaking of which, i have drawings that i need to add to there, so you can see some more rescent works.
Soooo i just thought, and this is mostly for Light, though anybody may add critique. What if, for this arena, we added a "requirement." What I mean is, this is a religious RP technically. Our characters fight for a god of sorts right? Most religions have practices that are expected to be followed. What if we had requirements that our characters must meet, in order to apease their gods, or two actually earn them honor? For example, priroda and Sol MUST perform a combo attack in every fight, or Herriman must change weapons at least twice, or something of the nature? These wouldnt necissarily hinder ourcharacters, but would help us more the less stay truthfull to the concepts and gods for which our characters were created.

Also, someone needs to make a champion for Alduin. XD

Erm, I really don't want to start another debate here, Dral, but I really don't get how Mifune broke the chain. If you have a chain pinned to the ground by a sword, it's through one of the links. I'm also presuming that Mifune pinned the chain with a downward stab, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. How would Mifune have broken the link with a flick of his wrist? there's no space for the sword to impact against the chain, therefore cut it., you'd just be pushing it along. Not to mention Herriman's pulling you upwards and towards him, which would proabably disrupt that seeing as how his leverage is at the middle point of the blade (also a guess, since it was downward stab that pinned the chain down, correct me if I'm wring here too).

Unless if I'm missing something here...

You're not missing anything. Without space to build up momentum, the blade wouldn't cut it unless Mifune was stronger than the chain (and had more weight behind him than the chain could hold). Assuming a chain strength similar to iron.

And in regards to Grnmachine's character, I'm not a GM but I would like to raise some concerns/pose some questions. First the concerns.

His skin is as tougher than tempered steel, and protected against magic that he casts, and other forms of similar magic.

Considering that my original iteration of Krix had skin as hard as iron and was turned down by light because of his wide array of immunities/resistances, I'm not sure this would be something he would approve. Tempered steel itself can be twice as hard as iron, and Anthony's skin is harder yet. In addition to that, he's protected against fire, ice, earth, wind, water, illusion, light, and lightning magic. And exceedingly resistant to acid. That's more resistances than my character originally had, and even greater resistance to physical harm.

The next concern is with the time limits on your abilities. In most arena settings, for the purposes of measuring the timing of abilities that have a time limit, a single post is generally worth about 5 seconds. This means that your ice arrow would completely immobilize your opponent for 6 full posts, during which time you could do pretty much whatever you wanted to them (it also means you would only be able to use each type of magic once every twelve posts).

Then for the questions. These probably don't need to be answered in order to get accepted, but I tend to run through scenarios in my head and my curiosity demands they be asked (it'll also save time later on if I ever fight you so I know what the specific effects of his abilities actually are).

When you use the word "target", do you mean the thing he's aiming at or the thing the arrow hits? As an example, say he shoots the fire arrow at his opponent and misses for whatever reason. The arrow then goes on to strike the arena floor. Does it simply fizzle out because it didn't hit the thing he was aiming at, or does the entire arena floor now burst into flames?

175 mph is about 256 fps, which while faster than a recurve bow is still slower than modern compound bows. Based on your original post it seemed to me that you were wanting the arrows to be faster than even modern arrows can travel. This one was more of an observation than a question...

The wind arrow. As you have it now, if this arrow hit my character I would treat it as though it created a tiny tornado all around my character, but left the character himself untouched. Is that how you meant it?

The lightning arrow. This just makes lightning strike nearby, not where the arrow hits? If so, its only utility in combat would be as a flash-bang grenade.

The rain arrow. Is this just a big bubble of water that will essentially drown the person it hits?

This chain is feet long if im not incorrect as he pulls it upwards Mifune just turns his hand letting the link slide from the tip of the blade and cutting the link he had stabbed. This chain link is made of bone correct? Mifune's sword can cut through concrete with ease there shouldn't be a problem there. Also he wasn't stabbing feet into the ground it was more like he was holding the chain down and leaning on the sword not kneeling down with his sword stuck all the way through it. If he had been then trying to pull it would put Mifune in the point of leverage anyway and the bone would snap on the sword.

A perfectly normal katana can easily cut bamboo, but if you set the blade against the bamboo instead of taking space to build up the swing, it's going to take a LOT more strength and leverage to cut through it. Speed is awesome where there's space to build it up, but Mifune's sword doesn't have that space. The chain is wrapped airtight around the blade, and it isn't going to slide up and down. I'm also going to quote you for my next point (though the emphasis is mine).

drallinix said
The remaining part soared off into the distance as Mifune drove his sword through the remnants of the chain pinning it to the ground.

The word choice here is particularly evocative. When I say my character drove his sword through someone's heart, do you picture a light prick of the skin that just grazes the heart itself? Of course not. You picture a sword being shoved violently clear through someone's body, and likely out the other side.

Since you never specified how hard it was or how deep the sword went, it's the common definition that takes precedence. You know this already. We've gone over it half a dozen times in our fights. Mifune drove the sword through the chain, which means that it's not resting lightly on top of the ground. It's at least a couple inches into the dirt, and the chain has a solid grip on the blade. Speed is Mifune's thing, but strength goes to Herriman. He has more power and more leverage to work with in this situation.

I have every confidence you can win, but not if you keep making the mistake he did and trying to combat his strengths with your weaknesses. He learned from it when we told him where he was going wrong and now he has the upper hand, but I've seen you do that before too. This fight has the potential to be much more amazing than it already is, but you can't stop taking him seriously if you're going to win.

To sum up, you made a mistake and handed him a pre-set trap, all he did was take advantage of it. It'll take a lot more than a flick of the wrist to get out of it.

It's also not a small (or light) chain either. Since Herriman's forearm twisted to become the flail, the chain itself is as thick as his forearm. Fifteen feet of dense bone as thick as Herriman's muscled-up forearm is definitely not something that can be easily hefted around, especially when it's attached to the middle of the four foot sword you're trying to use with grace and finesse (or worse, as you'll find out in my post).

So if im not mistaken Herriman has normal human reaction times, granted they may be peak, but theyre normal. No normal human man could react to that at fifteen feet Mifune is moving faster than a bullet and your guy not only sees him but has enough time to both recognize his attack, mutate his arm and throw it to the side, and point a sword at him. Realistically by the time Herriman got his arm to the side he would be stabbed he isn't fast enough to move like that, and the fact he mutated first which im guessing isn't instantaneous based on the cracking and such is equally impossible.

Well, let me just start by mentioning (again) that Heriman is not a human being. Sure, he was once, but he isn't anymore. Herriman doesn't need to recognize Mifune's attack. If there's a chain around your sword, and I throw that chain to the side, I know it's going to balls up your attack regardless of whatever you're trying to do.

Swinging your arm to the side is not an action that takes a lot of time, and there are many animals out in the world (insects, mostly) that can build up tension in their legs like it's nobody's business. Likewise, The sound of muscles rearranging is in no way an indicator of how long it takes someone to mutate. If it took Herriman five nanoseconds or five years, it'd still sound like cracking and squelching. It's not impossible. Let's not forget that the arm was already mutated (because, you know, it was a flail with an extendable chain, the muscle structures are already in place for that sort of thing.

Similarly, raising my sword arm isn't exactly a costly action either. I can swing my other arm and launch the chain while raising my sword-arm.

Unless of course, if what you're trying to tell me is that Mifune can kill Herriman from fifteen feet away before he could even have a chance to raise his arm to the side (just to put things into perspective, I'm a pretty out of shape guy, but I can swing my arm in front of my torso in a full arc in less than half a second, raise my arm from straight down at my side to pointing directly away from towards my side in less than .20 seconds).
drallinix said
. Realistically by the time Herriman got his arm to the side he would be stabbed .

Huh, looks like that IS what you're trying to tell me. I'm sorry, but I think it's my turn to call OP. If Mifune can pull his sword out of the ground, wrestle with the chain, and still maintain enough goddamn balance to perform a jumping stab attack before Herriman can swing his arm (a time of at most a FIFTH of a second), from fifteen feet away (from a crouching position with his sword embedded in the ground, might I repeat), that's absolutely ludicrous.

Given that Herriman's arm was already on the rise and more than halfway to the needed location before Mifune even started moving, I've gotta agree with Dag. At least on the chain-launching aspect.

And while Mifune's sword, when unhindered by the bulk of a chain, may be able to break the sound barrier, Mifune himself is NOT faster than a bullet (unless you're referring to bullets of a very slow sub-sonic variety).

Before you read this, know that i am not closed to changing my character, but i'd like to do only whats necessary to balance him.

Yes, my character had good physical defense, but his magical defense is not as good as you think. Do not confuse "Protected from" and "Immune". Anthony is resistant to the magics listed, but not fully immune; he is affected less by them. His only true immunity is acid- and that will still hurt him if potent enough. His defense is also mitigated by the fact that he has less offensive potential than you may think. The only magics i see being considered as "Offensive" are lightning, and fire. The rest i dont see being categorized by anything except utility. A scythe is hard to land a hit with, and an arrow in and of itself doesnt win a battle easily.

The time parameter i am willing to open a discussion on.

I wrote "Target," thinking of whatever is hit- albeit the floor, walls, etc. Another thing is that magic in the arrow cant be changed once fired, so if i use ice and i miss, i cant change it to rain, and we'd have to deal with a big chunk of ice in the arena for a few posts. However, if it hit a champion, the "Magic" would "follow" them if it has a physical manifestation and lasts for more than 5 seconds, like the wind arrow.

I am willing to change the speed of the arrows. How does 200 Miles Per Hour sound?

The wind from the wind arrow would cause no harm, just annoy the target. The only damage from a wind arrow is the arrow.

The lightning strikes where the arrow hit, so if it hit a person's arm, lightning would strike their arm.

The rain arrow created a big "bubble" of water where it lands, stays a bubble for about a second, before popping, and sending water all over the arena (not at harmful velocity, just sprawl across the floor as water would normally do).

Hope this helps!

He doesnt just have good physical defense. He has phenomenal physical defense. Tempered steel can apparently reach as high as an 8.5 on the MOHs scale of hardness, and with your skin being even harder than that it's approaching the level of a diamond regarding scratch resistance. Given that your skin (unlike actual steel and diamond), would still have to be supple and immune to fracturing, you'd be all but immune to bullets and blades (I'm not even sure a supersonic sword strike from Mifune would cause anything more than surface damage, and he currently has the most powerful single physical attack of any character), and his resistance to heat based on his anatomy alone would be measured in thousands of degrees (without taking his magical resistance into account).

Unless his insides are still just as frail and squishy as normal people, other characters would pretty much be limited to suffocation in order to defeat him (since having insides tougher than tempered steel would pretty much rule out everything else from lightning to even exceedingly potent acid).

I do see your point... lowering his physical defense would be better. Taking everything into account, i think i should lower it to just above iron or thereabouts. Also keep in mind that if you have any other suggestions or concerns to mention them now, b/c im only going to repost my app once more.
