-Unique Trait #1: Knowledge of the Environment - Generation upon generation of the Kahmer Messa have led their people to gain a deep understanding of the forest and the surrounding lands. The vast and intimate knowledge of their environment has allowed the Kahmer Messa to be masterful hunter gatherers, Agriculturist and guides to the forest. They could track different animals for days or weeks and could identify them with even the slightest foot print. Their knowledge also extends to farming, husbandry and other forms of agriculture. Farms that would face droughts could be saved by the Kahmer by finding different water sources or simply moving the crops to better locations.
-Unique Trait #2: (Created by me, mostly to reduce min-maxing)
-Unique Flaw #1: Outdated Technology - The Khraisid Empire has been slow to adopt new technologies from the outside world because of their isolationist society and minor xenophobia. The Empire still uses hardened iron and even copper weapons to arm its soldiers. The Empire has also been ignorant of the advantages of gun powder with the commoners believing it is some sort of black magic. Their indifference to modern technology extends far beyond their military. From their agriculture to their trade, the Empire has been using outdated technology for the past 300 years.
-Unique Flaw #2: (Created by me, mostly to reduce min-maxing)

-Religious Information: The Palladiristic sect of Justinianism is only exclusive to the realm of the Empire and to the Kahmer Massa. Adherents of the sect believe that the first unnamed Emperor of the Khraisyd Empire is the chosen champion of Justinian Magnus to lead the Kahmer people according to his will. The Justinian faith first came to the Empire 145 years ago. It was brought by traveling missionary monks who stumbled upon the Empire. Because of the Kahmer's extreme xenophobia as well as excessive superstition about outsiders, the early missionaries found it difficult to convert the Kahmer. However they learned of the ancient silent warrior, the missionaries were able to convert the masses by claiming that the silent warrior was a prophet of Justinian Magnus to guide the Kahmer towards him and his plans for salvation. The missionaries also noted that the sacrifice of the silent warrior was all apart of Justinian Magnus's relevation to the Kahmer of his shinning path. All the negative traits about the silent warrior, such as his slaughter of those warriors who were originally opposed to him and his slaughter of his enemy nobles, were not included in the teachings of the missionaries.
As the years went by, the new sect of Justinianism, Palladiristism that was spreading rapidly throughout the territories of the Empire. The missionaries have changed a number of facts about the silent warrior when preaching to the Kahmer to prevent them from questioning their sermons. The sect, like the main dogma of the Justinianism, follows that the main branch of the religion with its emphasis on salvation of the mortal soul. They believe that through prayer, protection of those in need and sacrifice, their souls could be saved from the clutches of the Darkness or of the Dark Hunger. MILITARY-Total Military Size: 150, 000 - The largest single army the empire can field.
15, 000 - The number of the standing army in service to the Emperor, the Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin.
-Military Details: The Empire throughout its 500 or so years of existence, has never had a large professional army at its disposal. The Empire if threatened instead relies on the common people to take up arms and fight for their realm. The common Kahmer, mostly farmers and fishermen, would commonly have either a bow, a sword or more commonly, a spear in their home when they are called by their lords to fight. This weapons are made of hardened iron and more commonly, copper. The common Kahmer has no time to devout practicing with the use of this weapons as they devout most of their time their livelihood. As such, the armies of the Khraisyd Empire tend not to be disciplined and well versed in battle. As such, an army depends on the tactical competence of its leader rather than the efficiency, professionalization and equipment of its armies.
When an army is forced to siege a fortified position, the army would rely on it's war elephants as well as catapults build on the location to break open gates and small walls. The Kahmer Massa's extreme fear and distrust of black powder has made the use of cannons very rare. Those few commanders who made their armies use cannons made from the outside were deserted by their warriors as soon as the cannon fired. As such, the Empire has had to rely on more outdated weaponry. Ballistas are still used by the commanders to target large groups of enemies to devastate their ranks.
However the Empire does maintain small armies and has a small professionl army of its own. The Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin (Royal Fighting Force/Army of the Emperor) is a combination of Batyani Ta Palladarin, Warrior Monks of the Hibbru-Bhyrusian faith, Warrior Hunters and trained warriors who receives payment for their time of duty. The size of this army usually expands or retracts depending on the situation the Empire faces. The Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin will bolster its rank when the Empire faces a outside threats, such as foreign invaders or multiple raiding parties, to deal with the crisis. However the Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin will reduce its numbers when the Empire cannot sustain it, usually in times of severe droughts.
Batyani Ta Palladarin - The elite soldiers of the Emperor and the elite guards of the Emperor and his family. They are trained from an early age on battle formations, uses of different weapons, comprehensive learning on battlefield tactics and strategies and general agility and strength. Those who train the Batyani Ta Palladarin also drill the young recruits to hellish extremes to make them well disciplined in combat and to make them aware of their environment at all times. The harsh training that the Batyani Ta Palladarin recruits go through ensures that only one in five recruits becomes a full fledged member. Most of the Batyani Ta Palladarin recruits are orphans who have no shelter to go to and are thus taken by the Batyani Ta Palladarin order. Once the recruits have passed their training, they would be shaved and they would be tattooed with ancient symbols and runes that prevent magic users near by from using spells of any sort. Their field of silencing usually covers an early of 10 feet. They use Trishulas which are war tridents that they use with deadly skill and efficiency.
Warrior Monks of the Hibbru-Bhyrusia Caste - Long before the Empire converted to the Justinianism and even long before the Empire itself, Hibbru-Bhyrusia was the dominant religion in the realm. The Hibbru-Bhyrusian religion is known for its priesthood to have a very strict caste system that they must adhere to. There was the monks, the scholars and the warriors. The warrior monks of the Hibbru-Bhyrusia caste are known for their mystical marshal arts which they practice purely for self defense. However in times of dire situations, the Empire has been known to employ the warrior monks to defend the realm. The warrior monks usually are armed with nothing more but wooden poles which coupled with their monk training and skills, can be used with frightening results.
Warrior Hunters - More hunter than warrior, this Kahmer are tasked with the Empire with guarding the fallen city of Antor Wan to make sure that the beast of the city does not escape into neighboring areas and cause havoc. They are natural hunter gatherers who could live off the land if needed be. However they are also drilled by members of the Batyani Ta Palladarin on discipline, environmental awareness and combat doctrines. However while not as competent as a fighting unit as the Batyani, they are good warrior when fighting individually and are excellent hunter gatherers as stated above. They are armed with the Kampilan sword although they mostly use bows and Kris daggers to kill their prey.
Sasuk Malato - The Sasuk Malato are divided into two main divisions. One is tasked with routinely visiting towns and villages to make sure that they are fed well and are not turning into werebeast. They have been given by the Emperor to do anything necessary to keep the stability of the realm. This includes confiscating food from one village to feed another to killing entire town populations to prevent them from turning. The Sasuk Malato has even been known to raze town after town after major disasters affect an area and could not sustain themselves. The other group of the Sasuk Malato are the spies and assassins. They are tasked by the Empire to gather information from anywhere needed, specially the Empires enemies, and eliminate individuals the Empire would want to get rid off. Both groups of the Sasuk Malato are armed with specialized Kris daggers with a golden handle and poisoned tip. The dagger's handles also has craved-in symbols signifying the importance, authority and rank of a Sasuk member.
Knights - To protect the fiefs of the lower lords, they would usually employ their sons as warriors to defend their lands from bandits, raiders or even their neighbors. This warriors are known as knights and are tasked with protecting their father's lands at all cost. Of course this knights have fiefs themselves within their father's fief and that also serves as a reason to protect their father's holdings. From an early age, this warriors are taught how to mount bipedal, predatory, flightless birds known as "Nanatuyo" and use them as their steads. This birds are perfectly adapted to roam about in thick jungle environments. As such the riders of this birds have to be keenly aware of their surroundings to keep up with their steeds in thick jungles. The knights are armed with spears that they use to charge their enemies.
Imperial Mages -
Spear warriors - Spear armed warriors who are called upon by local lords or the Emperor himself to fight for the realm if needs be. The spear is the most common weapon a commoner could get his hands on and thus when the Empire calls on the Kahmmer Massa to defend itself, most will be equipped with spears. This militias may be trained and drilled by their commanders before a battle but not enough to make them as good as a professional army. Those spear warriors under the Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin are a small professional army itself and thus is a better fighting unit than the usual rabble that the Empire raises.
Sword Warriors - Sword armed warriors who are called upon by local lords or the Emperor himself to fight for the realm if needs be. Swords are less common among the masses and thus fewer Kahmer are expected to carry them in battle. This militias may be trained and drilled by their commanders before a battle but not enough to make them as good as a professional army. Those sword warriors under the Sarrim Hakar Ta Palladarin are a small professional army itself and thus is a better fighting unit than the usual rabble that the Empire raises.
Bow Warriors - Bow and arrow armed warriors who are called upon by local lords or the Emperor himself to fight for the realm if needs be. The Kahmer Massa are known to be as good as trained bowmen of other nations even when they do not practice with it too often. Because of this, the Empire will try to field as many bow warriors as they could into the battle field.
Javelin Warriors - Javelin armed warriors who are called upon by local lords or the Emperor himself to fight for the realm if needs be. The Kahmer Massa are naturally agile and light on their feet and as such, make naturally good skirmishers. The Empire actually equips bow warriors who have shown agility and grace on the battlefield with the said javelins and instructs them on the proper ways of handling a weapon as well as how to skirmish their enemies.
War Elephant - The lands of the Kraisyd Empire are known for their native Elephants. This enormous animals has been used by the Kahmer from agriculture to construction. It did not take long for the ancestors of the Kahmer to adapt the beast into their military. The War Elephants are manned by a crew of three, a "driver" and two Kahmers to operate its two crossbows. The Empire has fitted this beast with a repeating crossbow on their backs that can send a volley of arrows against the enemy. On top of that, the driver of the beast is also armed with javelins he could throw into the enemy ranks and the War Elephant can also serve siege weapon for the Empire's armies.
NATIONAL DRAMATIS PERSONAE-
Head of State/Monarch: Jajavisin XIV - From the long line of Emperors, Jajavisin the fourteenth is well versed in the world of politics. His family line has ruled ever since the fall of Antor Wan and the disappearance of the first silent warrior. Jajavisin XIV is currently 76 years old, still considered quite young for the Kahmer race. However throughout the years, Jajavisin XIV has gained enough experience to successfully govern his people as best he could. Before he became the Emperor, Jajavisin XIV was a merchant who traveled to foreign lands along with other merchant nobility. His father disapproved of this but was powerless to stop him. As he traveled to distant lands, we was exposed to different people, different ideologies, different religions and different tales that involves the Darkness.
When Jajavisin XIIV was called to Antor Wan and was assumed dead after a week of disappearance within the city, his som was immediately summoned back to the Empire. At first, Jajavisin XIV was relunctant to take the crown and rule over the nation. CULTURAL-History - Before the rise of the Khraisyd Empire, the Kahmer Massa were separated by different kingdoms and tribes fighting to control, secede, influence or destroy one another. At this time, simple tribes lived in huts made of tree leaves high above the canopy while more wealthier kingdoms lived in stone castles and settlements protected by wooden palisade. The surrounding farm lands filled with rice fields and potato and yam plantations would always be raided by one army or another. The warring states and tribes would decimate each other and use the captured opponents as their slaves.
This continued on until three major powers were left to contend with one another. The Tang, Shui and Kersa kingdoms emerged as the dominant powers. The Tang ruled to the north and managed to built strong trade routes with its neighbors. The Shui to the east controlled most of the bounties of the sea. They great riches of fishes and other sea food were harvested by their fishermen and the treasures of the sea became their staple of diet. The southern inland was under the control of the Tang. The Tang had the wide farm lands and profited from the agriculture of their territories. War became less and less frequent with this nations as they decided to direct their competitions towards building more grandiose monuments and building more and more elaborate cities.
However troubles once more arose when the ruling family of the Shui kingdom died out without a heir to continue their rule. The kingdom was engulfed in civil war as the Nam Shin and Dailo royal families fought for the throne. During the second year of the war, the Kersa decided to aid the Dailo family in return for mutual agreements between both parties. The Tang mistook this a sign that the Kersans were preparing to annex the entire Shui kingdom if the Dailo won. The Tang then decided to fund the Nam Shin in their war efforts. The two kingdoms were involved directly after the two families were held at a standstill with each other. Soon the three kingdoms were engulfed in war once again as the kingdoms of Kersa and Tang begun fighting across the land. Farm lands were once again raided, cities under siege and towns burned to the ground. To add to the chaos and confusion, roaming armies of thieves, bandits and cutthroats raided and pillaged towns and small cities. Most of this thugs were outsiders, drawn in by the instability of the region. After seven years of brutal war between the two kingdoms and raiders and bandits, the people were battered and extremely paranoid.
500 years before the "Cataclysm" a great hero rose from obscure origins to reunite the warring nations. The first mention of him comes from the tales of a small village to the south of Antor Wan. The small fishing town of Taosi were threatened by a rebel horde of stragglers from the Kersan army. The men were hungry from their long march and decided to raid the small fishing village. However, as they got there, they found a tall male elf stood guard over the village who wore gold trinkets and other jewelry and carried with him two flaming Dha swords. Standing against an army numbering 6, 000 strong, the rebel warriors gave him the opportunity to give where he would be left unharmed he lay down his weapons and gave his jewelry to them. The elf simply stood there silently observing the warriors for their next move. After giving him an ample amount of time to surrender, the warriors charged at him. However they were hacked and slash by the unknown warrior by the dozens. Only a thousand warriors were left to surrender before the fierce warrior.
The warrior never spoke after the battle and none of the villagers knew who he was. Nobody knew how to communicate with him. Some thought of him as a divine champion, others as an evil spirit. All kept their distance from him and only a few were brave enough to try and talk to him. A young monk of the Hibbru-Bhyrusian faith approached the warrior and tried to communicate with him. After three days of nothing but failure, the monk was ready to give up. He made one final attempt though by using sign language with his hands which were from his local temple, taught to orphan children who were deaf and/or mute. The mystic hero who until now didn't show any sign of interest for the monk suddenly turned his head and looked at his hands. The monk was then amazed as the silent hero began to communicate to him back using sign languages. The two communicated with each other for a week without eating and sleeping.
After this, the monk instructed males of the village to arm themselves with whatever weapons they had at their disposal and for those warriors that surrendered to the mystical hero to take up arms again. They soon marched to another village where they gathered more warriors for their cause. Soon, they numbered around 15,000 strong with their mute leader rounding up more and more support. For all their numbers though, only few were armed with competent weapons. Most were armed with simple farming equipment and simple wooden rods.
The silent hero first took his army to the city of Antor Wan to combat the armies of the Tang and the Kersan. They were outnumbered by both armies three to one. Most were disheartened but there were those, specially those who fought the hero and surrendered, that had a great deal of faith on the silent hero. Surprising both forces as the Tang forces were sieging the city under the control of The Kersans. While the two were busy engaging each other in the dead of night, the silent hero and his men assaulted the southern wall of the city. Without any siege weapons or ladders, the warriors under the command of the silent warrior wondered how they were going to make it through inside. The hail of fire from the archers atop the walls made some of the warriors flee in terror. The silent hero got the base of the wall and he swung he's sword directly at it. The walls collapsed in front of him and he rallied his warriors towards the opening. The two forces were occupied with each other on the northern walls were shocked, awed and surprised. The defenders had little time to organize before the silent warrior and his men overtook them. Many of the defenders surrendered to the silent hero.
The Tang forces thought the silent warrior was on their side and asked for him to open the gates for them. The silent warrior instructed the priest to tell the Tang outside to surrender their weapons or face his wrath. Upon hearing this, the leader of the Tang army felt insulted. He ordered his men to resume the siege. To his surprise however, the gates were swung open and the silent warrior waited for them. The Tang leader ordered his archers to send a volley against the lone warrior. The silent warrior moved with such grace, speed and skill that he dodged every arrow and didn't even have a scratch on him. The leader of the Tang forces then sent his spear warriors to deal with the warrior. Assured of his victory, the leader of the Tang even wagered with his adviser and close friend how long the silent warrior would last before his ultimate demise. They were both awestruck and horrified as they watched the spear warriors brought down wave after wave. After several minutes of fighting, most of the men broke formation and ran. The warrior then walked up to the leader of the broken army who simply fled in his wake and stabbed in the heart. He once again rallied the warriors to his side and thus started a war with the Kersan and Tang.
As word spread of this silent warrior roaming the land, more and more people began to defect to his side. The warrior and his growing horde began to take more and more land for himself. Within the span of a year, he was able to retake all of the former territories of the Shui. The Tang, scared of this new god amongst men, offered to surrender to the silent warrior if they were to kept a partial autonomy. The refused an gave them an ultimatum to either submit to him completely or be annihilated. Faced with the prospect of being destroyed by a tyrant, the Tang offered the Kersans a truce and a temporary alliance with the sole purpose of killing the silent warrior.
Upon learning of this union between the two past rivals, the silent warrior, now the silent king, was angered and infuriated. It wasn't long before both armies marched into the silent king's lands. The silent king knew that his only change against the the coalition was to head directly at the hearts of the two kingdoms and kill their leaders. The silent king then raised an army and headed off first to the city of Kasimsim to destroy the Kersan Kingdom. The armies that faced the silent king had half of their warriors either running away or defecting to the silent king's side before the battle even began. By the time a battle was usually over, those fortunate or wise enough to have surrendered would have done so. In only the span of a year, the city of Kasimsim was taken by the silent king. However the cost of his victory was thousands of acres of farmland burned from raids and thousands of elves dead from the wake of the battles. The silent king then turned his attention towards the Tang Empire. The Tang were still resilient and stubborn in trying to keep their freedom. The Tang amassed an army of 50,000 made up of peasants, mercenaries and warrior monks to defeat the silent king. To maximize their chances of winning even further, they prompted to ambush the invading army in a forest path. It was the Tang's final gambit against the greatest foe.
After a long exhaustive day of marching, the silent king's army of 15,000 found a hill over the clearing that they could use to settle down and build a camp on. As the men marched through the last few feet of dense jungle, they were taken by surprise as Tang warriors attacked from the sides. Attacked from both sides and severely outnumbered, the silent king's army stood no chance. However the silent king kept the hope of his men alive has he carved through the enemy left and right. The fighting was fierce and neither side were holding back against the other. After two hours of brutal fighting, the silent king's army won although at a heavy cost. The silent king's forces took a heavy beating as their numbers were shrunk to only 3,500 warriors. He forced those who surrendered to join his side. The warriors who now numbered around 11,000 marched directly for the city of Mai Kalan.
The horrified nobility left the city in a haste as the silent warrior, known to them as the "mad butcher" approached their great city. The people who were horrified of what the silent king would do rounded up whichever member of the royal house they could find and tried to offer them to the silent king in exchange for their lives. The city tore itself apart from the fear of the coming war monger coming straight for them. When the silent king arrived at Mai Kalan, he found the city in chaos with smoke rising to the sky. The gates to the city were open and the villagers fearfully awaiting him. The captured nobles were presented before the silent king and the people waited for his judgement. He went over to each of the nobles and began decapitating them. The silent king then ordered the warriors that surrendered to him after the ambush to stand before him in a straight line. He then proceeded to decapitate them too. Those left of his warriors were free to pillage the castle and homes of the nobles.
The silent king, then marched home with his warriors. On his way, he discussed the future of his realm with his close advisers. The silent king expressed his plans of a centralized kingdom where he had absolute rule. His advisers warned him that this would only further the divide between him and his counterparts from the other kingdoms. An empire would give the former Tang and kersan kingdoms enough autonomy to operate on their own while it would still give the silent warrior authority over them. After three days of arguing, the silent warrior was forced to accept although he was very reluctant about this.
The silent warrior would not relish his victory for very long though. His war against the Tang amd the Kersan left much of the country ravaged by war. Farmlands, dirt roads, settlements, towns and great cities were all ruined by the flames of war. Thousands of the Kahmer suffered from famine and pestilence. Plagues coupled with crippling hunger has left the once great states in a state of destruction almost impossible to repair. The Kahmer cried to the Gods for help. Saayir, the great God of the primal hunger, the instinctual urge to feed, the God of Gluttony, heard the cries of the Kahmer and answered their prayers. He observed the plight of the Kahmer, saw their misery and determined who the culprit of this disaster was. The one responsible for the saddened state the Kahmer had befell upon was the silent warrior for starting a war that brought anguish, disease and death with him. To punish the wrongdoer, Saayir sent one of his strongest servants to kill the silent warrior.
A week after the returning to his capital city of Antor Wan, the city was suddenly awoken in the early morning when a gigantic being descended on their city from the sky. The records differ on what exactly came from the skies that day. Some say it was a great beast which had mouths upon mouths and one giant eye to see what it was eating. Others say it was a horribly overweight humanoid that had three heads. Other say it was a great wolf which would explain the current predicament of the Kahmer. The great monstrosity called out for the silent warrior to receive his judgement at his hands. The silent warrior faced him without fear or hesitation, only anger. With his flaming weapons in hand and righteous fury, he charged at the great beast. The defenders of the city could only watch as their fearless hero battled the beast with ferocity and bravery unmatched. The warrior did well at first, striking the beast without receiving any blows himself. However the beast was able to strike back by grabbing the silent warrior by the foot and slamming him into the ground. The warriors were struck with horror and fear as their champion fell to the beast. The silent warrior rose however rallied his warriors to kill the beast. With their spirits rekindled, the warriors also took action. Spear and sword warriors charged at the beast and bow warriors fired volley after volley at it. The warriors distracted the beast enough after hours of fighting for the silent warrior to defeat it. The great beast felt betrayed by the Kahmer as it was they who asked for helped in the first place. Angered by this, the great beast with the blessing Saayir who was equally angered, placed a great curse upon the entire Kahmer massa. He cursed them with the Black Hunger which gave the entire Kahmer race more hair growth throughout their bodies and increased metabolism that forces the average Kahmer to eat three times the amount he would necessarily need to sustain himself. If they completely starve, weakened in body and mind, then they would turn into mindless half elf, half wolf beast who's only follow to their instinct is to hunt, kill and consume any living creature in their vicinity. The city of Antor Wan was hit heavily by this curse as the entire population was turned into the ravenous beast. As for the silent warrior, his fate still lies unclear. Some say he continues to fight the beast in the city to this day, trying to distract them from heading out into the outside where they would cause more harm. Others say he has died ever since he defeated the servant of Saayir, succumbing to his wounds. There are those who say that he has turned into the most powerful and ravenous of the wolf-kind themselves. None are sure and those who venture into the fallen city to investigate have never returned to speak of what they saw.
With the Empire without a leader, one of the silent warrior's most trusted adviser was proclaimed the new Emperor. Jajasivin I stepped forward to take charge of a nation crippled by war, famine, plague and a curse that devastated the Kahmer even further. To add to the mounting problems he already faced, the (Something something about Grij's faction. Will add this more into this later).
