After Sue makes a right, the walls inexplicably slam shut behind her. A forty feet stretch of floor in front of her splits in half, and as each half recedes into the wall; a pool of water appears twenty feet below her. Just below where the floor originally was, ten tiles jut out from the sides of the pit. There are twenty inches long and ten inches wide, and tilt downward at a fifty degree angle. They are placed at varying distances from each other, and in the water below, small dark forms can be seen thrashing around. Suddenly, the lights in the hall way begin to vary in brightness. Near Sue, the light is as it was before, but as the lights grow dimmer every few feet until complete darkness blankets the last two tilted tiles and the end of the hallway.(If anything needs clarification, let me know,)

Oh god, a jumping obstacle, Sue thought. She suddenly remembered her first day in the Academy when she could not for the life of her reach for the handles in PE. Now she had to jump across this giant pool to get to the other end.

She remembered her new technique of sonic propulsion. Sue barely had room to take a step back to ready herself. She ran and jumped off and with a light clap of her hands she jumped in the air and her foot made contact with the first tile on the right. The tile was angled so she knew she had to keep going if she didn’t want to fall, so she clapped again, leaning the right wall. After the second tile she let out a louder clap that pushed her all the way to the other side of the pool. She was now at the end of the hallway. She opened the door and saw the hallway leading forward and right. She looked forward but saw a hallway whose walls had numerous doors. She decided to go right, which felt endless.

Down the hall, to Sue's right, is a set of heavy metal doors. Just on the other side, the carpeted flood gives way to dark, moist soil, and the walls are replaced with lush, thick bushes. The branches of the bushes jut out into the hallway, and are laden with beautiful purple flowers. Mimic's voice comes over a PA system, "If I were you, I'd be careful not to touch those."

Connor smiled reassuringly. "Probably not enough Borax" although he wasn't too sure of this, since this was a new experiment for him as well. "We can started again" he said, emptying to contents in the chemical sink, hoping he wasn't destroying Dr Cpnnors lab as he did so. "So we will start with a cup and a half of water" he poured the water in, "then add the Alum, and boric acid" he did this, "then the borax" he stirred the solution, and it turned the same colour as his own, "sometimes I forgot even when I don't know what I am doing, I know what I am doing" he said, and it was now as he turned to look at her again that he noticed her shirt."Super nerd" he found himself laughing, "I like it. Do you want to try it again?"

"Essentially once you can control it, you can be normal" Kalinda said, she gave Devika a smile "it will be okay"

Kijani poured hers away as well, and paid more close attention this time, focusing intently on Connor. Once she was sure she had it, she duplicated what she'd seen, more carefully measuring and stirring the ingredients. "Okay..." She watched it as it slowly turned orange. "HA! Haha! Take that, science!" She giggled like a little girl, which was something she only did when reading alone.
Devika's gaze looked dimmed. "I suppose. I just wished... I knew more about myself. Like, really knew."

I'm not even human. I may know how to control my powers, but I've had to learn how to conduct myself here on Earth. The problem is different but still difficult. She smiled lightly. Also, I can help you with you're mental barriers if you'd like.

The branches were in her way, and there was no way Sue could just touch them or manoeuvre her way around even with a slender body. She had to get rid of them.

This was the perfect time to use her air slice technique. The memory bank of her music was in her headphones, which meant there was no need to play them using her phone. The only downside was she’d have to cycle through the music with the next button on either earcup until she got what she wanted. Before the song played, a preview was played at a frequency that was inaudible to the normal human hearing range. Infrasound and ultrasound were audible to Sue, which had many great advantages. She chose a random song with a hardcore guitar solo.

With a twist of her head that matched the sliding of the gridded wheels that controlled the volume, she produced a sonic wave with such high air pressure it travelled and cut through the branches. Her hair swayed elegantly with grace. She looked ahead at the hallway and saw the branches and most of the flowers collected by the door. She turned around to see that there was damage on the hallway wall. Woah, she thought.

She smacked her lips and and the sonic wave pushed the debris away from the door, and headed out of the door.

She went left now, figuring that was the right way to go. It was a hallway with multiple doors on either side, she fearing that someone or something would pop out at any time.

Connor laughed, there was a good feeling in knowing that a friend, someone he was helping, had succeeded. "And this is why I wanted you to do it yourself" he said, taking out two paint brushes "there is nothing like the feeling of creating something and succeeding"

He now just could help but smile. He just couldn't stop it. Not that he wanted to. "And now we paint the paper, both sides. Then hang it to dry carefully. Once we have done the paper, we can have some dinner while it dries"
"What do you mean?" Kalinda asked curiously

A deep, rumbling growl emanates from each door in front of Sue. Once again, the lights cut out, and the creak of slowly opening doors cuts through the darkness. Suddenly, Sue is forced to the ground as small, furry things climb all over her body, claw at her clothes, and begin to nibble at any accessible skin.

"What do you mean?" Kalinda asked curiously

Kijani carefully took the paintbrush from him. "Alright. Painting. I'm not much of an artist, but I think I can handle this." She went and got several sheets of paper for each of them and set them in reach. "So... I guess I just coat it completely, then? Like a thin layer of stuff?" She was wondering why she'd never noticed him smile before. Maybe he hadn't. Or maybe it hadn't been so... warm and easy. A smile like that, she had learned, meant someone was completely at ease, and ripe for manipulation because they had their guard down. She was surprised. Connor trusted her, or at least he was very good at pretending to. She didn't know what to do with that.
Devika shook her head at Estella. "My barriers aren't the problem. I can block my mind pretty well, but it goes both ways. I cut myself off from my own emotions as well as everyone else's. But I can feel them, through my skin... they just seep in." Then she turned to Kalinda, sighing before flopping back in the grass. Her hair billowed out behind her like a fluffy dark cloud. "I guess I might as well tell you. I don't know who my parents are. I mean, my birth parents. My real parents, the ones who raised me, they're amazing. But... I've always had that mystery ini the back of my mind."

She was in pain. She screamed but nothing came out. Had she no powers, no one would ever have known what happened to poor Sue Cassidy. But she did have powers.

She pressed next, and the pain was on

Rollin’ – Limp Bizkit

The loud angry lyrics reflected how she felt at the moment. The loud bass, drums and guitar blasted away the creatures on top of her. Sue looked up and felt hair floating and falling in the air, and at the same time felt more of those things coming out of the door.

She ran, the strong nu-metal blasting away the creatures, just ran wherever she felt was the right way.

This was when she realized a new ability: Echolocation.

Echoes bounce back from walls and there was a high chance they returned to Sue. Sue’s sensitivity to noise was useful and she knew where the walls were closest, and therefore which were furthest. She ran to the furthest door. The creatures growled viciously and perpetually, but her metal was way louder.

She, with all her concentration, sent a sonic blast and blew the door open, and light gleamed into the hallway. Sue didn’t have time to look behind her and just kept running. It was a straight hallway and she could hear the beasts catching up. The music encouraged her to keep on going. This was her workout music.

I can help you refine your mental barriers. At least temporarily. I noticed you sounded more monotone when you used them.

Connor nodded, starting to coat one side of a piece of paper himself. It appeared he had taken his fathers advice. He was comfortable, and completely at ease. And Conorr wasn't much of an actor, nor one to pretend. He was genuine. Just about everything he did he did genuinely.

He worked quickly, and soon had his stack of papers coated with the solution. He started to hang them up to dry all around the laboratory. He enjoyed the work, despite it's repeativeness.

"Now to wait for it to dry
"So then you need to find them to figure out who you are" Kalinda said thinking

The light came back on and Sue’s heart stopped when she turned back to see puppies chasing her. She press pause on her music immediately and stopped in place. She was so hurt that she hurt the puppies.

But there was something odd about it. If this were a trap, what would puppies be doing here? Sue’s predilection for all things adorable was challenging her rational mind. She shouldn’t be going forward. She slowly walked backwards while looking at them confused with a hint of fear.

This was still a test, she thought, puppies later!

As soon as Sue turned around, she was shocked to see a green fog just a few inches in front of her. It frightened her so much she stumbled to the floor, scrambling backwards on all fours.

She had no idea what the fog was about, but gases were nothing to her. She pressed play again on her headphones and dialled it up to THREE which was enough for Sue to just walk along the hallway as the fog was pushed away with the pulsating waves of forced air. As she walked, the gas engulfed her, but never got close enough for her to inhale but she knew she couldn’t stay too long; the song was nearly ending.

She got to the end of the hallway, and opened a door revealing a large room.

”Yes, please.” she sat down while signing. She looked at the monitors and saw replays of the major events that took place in the maze. She looked cool. She maintained a stare at Mimic for his verdict.

Mimic signs, "Sue, do you even realize how heavily you depend on your powers? Yes, I realize that the name of my class is Power Development, but it could more accurately described as Development Testing. Everything I say, everything that I do is designed to cause both you and your classmates develop, and you're not impressing me. You used your powers in three different situations that a normal human could have survived. Instead of jumping, you basically used your powers to propel yourself, instead of simply pushing the puppies off, you sent them flying with a shock wave, instead of simply holding your breath, you used sound waves to keep the gas away from you. Those are all things that I've taught you, haven't you learned anything through experimentation outside of class? There's plenty of room on Academy property to do it safely. Have you even attended any of the plethora of classes available at this school? The reason I ask is because you've certainly never demonstrated anything that would make me think you have." He sighs deeply, then continues, "Look, I'm not trying to be harsh, all I'm trying to say is that you can't be a one trick pony. You have to diversify your skill set."

Sue hadn't received any negative comments for a while. She never dealt with criticism well. She normally worked on the comments and worked even harder. Her dancing, for instance, was not always well-received but she was fine with it.

But now when it came to her abilities, Sue had no idea how to react. She did attend classes, she did experiment outside class, she did improve. But now being that she hadn't, she could not say anything.

She could feel tears in her eyes, but toughened herself up and simply signed: "Okay."

Mimic sighed and said out loud: "You're free to go. I'm not impressed."

The two stepped out of the office, Sue led out first and on their way out of the large power development arena Sue could hear the turning of the floor behind them. She turned around and the building was gone.
She was so sad she took off, running to her room up the stairs. She didn't care about her plans with Phoebe. She didn't care about any of the other classes that day. She didn't care that she was starving.

She cared about how much she stepped backwards into being a hero just like her father. She was disappointed with herself and she didn't want to see anyone.

Anyone except her father.

She cranked her headphones up to FOUR and played one of her favourite songs:

Lost in Love - Girls Generation ( I recommend everyone to listen)

Her emotions made her power so potent it amplified her music even more. Her music was so loud it could be heard outside the girls dormitory and near the main campus, despite the efforts of the soundproof walls of her anechoic room. It was a sad song, and she loved her father more than anything. She hoped he still loved her. She cried into her pillow, gripping hard.

Kalinda near the dull music, a sad tune. She looked about, blinked, wondering where the music came from. "I think someone is very vsry sad" she said standing up.

She slowly let down her blocks, sent out her senses. Kalindas emotional ability worked as a sixth sense. All she had to do was take out her blockst, and she could feek the emotions of other. It wasn't something she could control when her blocks were down-no more than anyone could control taste, sight, smell, hearing or touch, her ability to manipulate otners emotions currently was based on touch. Butnshe knew as she grew stronger, she would be able to manipulate them without touch.

feelings others emotions was difficult at the best kf times, feeling them when theybwere so powerful...almost pure, well it was like nothing else. She actuallh craved that. Like now. So forgoting that she was with Devika, and Estella, she followed her sense.

it led to the girls dormatry, and she knocked ln the door where the music was the loudest, womdering if the person inside could hear it

when tnere wS no answer, she tested the door, finding it locked, she knelt, examining tje keyhole then held up a hand, moving it to unlock it. She pushed thr door ope , and headed in.

right now, the emotion from the girl within was all she could feel, and it swam through her entire being.
