Esuterura stepped in and sat in an empty seat. Curious she picked up the hat like object and turned it over to get a better look at it. Given it's shape it was pretty obvious that it went on your head. The idea of having a device on her head was unsettling. She put it back down and pushed it away.

The first two weeks seemed to have flown by and Aver'i felt she had learnt so much already. Thankfully the rest of the time had not been quite so dramatic, with explosions being kept to a small scale of limited destruction which at worse set off fire alarms. On this morning she had woken early and enjoyed just laying in the comfort of her bed. That was until the announcement rang out. She was expecting it but she was still reluctant to leave, and dragged herself around the room as she got ready. It didn't take too long and she felt much more awake as she made her way to the room and after a little searching found the small crowd outside the door. She obviously wasn't the first to arrive, but she wasn't the last either so that was ok.

And then the door opened to reveal who she could only presume was their teacher. It wasn't his appearance exactly that made him so imposing - she was hardly in a position to judge someone for the colour of their skin - but his sheer size. Following the crowd inside she looked around and paused as she took in just what was in front of her. Honestly it didn't look like her idea of fun but she continued into the room regardless.

There was the sound of Mike tripping over something, before he open the door to let Kyra in. Right away you would notice how the room looked now. Mike bed had been moved onto a wall while there were a few hole in the wall which had been created and coming out of the hole was a special set of chains that had been built by one of the supervillians Manbat knew. There were designed to hold something like the Hulk but there had been altered a bit to be able to hold off Mike's bloodwolf form. Mike had also left a silver cross on the side table in case Kyra felt threaten as the beast hated silver.

Kyra walked in, watching Mike. "Are you okay?" she asked, looking around.

Kyra watched him. "Are you sure you want me to be here? I mean, I can handle it, but I just want to make sure you don't want to be..... alone when this happens..."

After spending most of his week nights building his suit with his dad, Ben can't wait to take part in a class that he was told is a ton of fun. According to a few of the teachers that he had talked to, the Martian's class was the one class in the school that you could totally let lose. Ben grins as he waits to enter the classroom, "I bet this will be just like a video game!" After being let in, Ben immediately finds a seat and waits for further instructions.

Anthony had stood slightly away from the other students as they waited, taking the chance to size them all up again. "None of these simpletons will even pose a threat to me in the future! The Kijani girl panicked at the sight of a small flame. Although I admit that Stark's child may have an intelligence that nearly rivals my own, he doesn't even come close to my cleverness, which will cause him to forever be a second-rate genius. I'm not sure about this alien that somehow crashed into our school, but I need to make sure I don't let her into my head. Parker's older boy seems rather malleable. And the rest of the children seem quite ordinary, powers aside, except for...what's her name?" His eyes linger on Sue as a slight smile comes across his face, "Ah yes, Sue. How could I forget? She is rather...interesting." Once the Martian Manhunter invites them into the room, Anthony sits as commanded, but examines the headgear closely.

Sue

Two weeks have passed since that exciting day. The resumption of school that following day had been just as exciting, save the destruction though. Sue was more than ever determined to train herself, and not just to train herself to use her power, so as to become a better person.

She saw to it that this was a new life she had to live by. Her old life lingers but it cannot be the same again. She’d have to adapt and take control again. Her powers have taken the best of her in her early days in the Academy but now it was Sue’s turn. Granted it was slow, but at least she made attempts and progress, such determination made prideful of Sue, hoping to follow her dad’s footsteps, by making her own. Of course, dancing and music was still a part of her, and so she was going to be a unique kind of hero. She’d come up with an alias for herself. She cast her mind back to the day she fought Mimic and how the sound reverberated and amplified all around the room, the relentless ripples and wavelengths perpetually raised and powerful. It was a multiple reflections of sound, arriving back at the listener some time after the direct sound. In acoustics, they were called echoes.

Sue’s alias is now Echo.

Sue continued to pay attention in class, drawing down notes instead of writing and jotting. She paid special attention to fighting techniques. Her battle with Mimic was unique, in that no other student in her class had fought him by dance. Sue sought for advice on offensive and defensive dance-fighting and maintained her regime of fitness and speed and flow in her life of dance mixed with crime-fighting.

Her daily sessions in the library off-class made her a walking sight of popularity. She found that her classes could not teach her what she wanted to know, so the expansive knowledge of the libraries made up for it. It was one of her new favourite places too, since it was quiet. Despite her supposed less fear for lack of control with her power in the midst of noise, she found the silence much more comforting. Her earmuffs still had to be on though; her power would amplify even the sound of the ticking clock which tended to drive everyone out.

Sue for a while was the talk of the town, but she was shadowed by their alien visitor. She didn’t really mind. Change was a perception of difference, despite it being either good or bad. Sue was change.

She still went to training with Iron Fist, every day the better she got into handling her ability. Though the volumes still reached screeching high states, Sue did not cry but resigned to calling it a day of hard work. Her form of self-control taught her not only to not be afraid of her power, but also to make her mature and mindful when using it. Lessons taught hard often stay with us forever.

Even more interesting was the new specialized training room built for Sue. It was adjacent to the building where Iron Fist and her trained. To say that this room was large was an insult. It was vast. It was the size of an American football field and was protected by a forcefield that she was told could handle the strength of an atomic bomb. Surely this was excessive she thought, but who knew the true extent of her power.

Her power was continually explored during her times with Mimic during Power Development. With her use of her high-tech, state of the art headphones, it became her sort of weapon of choice. They discovered the range of damage that could be caused with each level of volume on her headphones via the gridded wheel. 1 was the equivalent of a car starting up and revving its engine; 2 was a monster truck revving its engine; 3 they explored previously was a loud concert; 4-6 were the equivalents of bomb explosions. They have yet to look into 7-10, yet her headphones allowed her to go to 15. Even Sue was scared of the thought of that. She recalled reading up on Songbird, whom Sue came to liking and admiring, and her long psionic and sonic blasts that caused craters and earthquakes. That was so cool, she thought, but far too dangerous. There may come a day when she’d have to do it, but so far it wasn’t necessary. Especially since her song choice involved a lot of bass and thumping, oscillating volumes.

They also looked into how sound could affect her movements. Sonic attacks did not hurt Sue at all, but she could still be moved by them. By using this essence into thought, she had learnt how to propel herself into the air with a good sonic blast. She still had no way of directing the sound flow, but it was a good start with keeping up with flying heroes. She reminded himself of her own father, who screamed to propel himself to the air.

The week had passed, and she tried to keep in touch with the people she knew. She’d hoped that they’d still been friends with her. At least Phoebe, Katherin and Kijani were. She missed Jack, the loverboy who helped her on Day One. She watched as they and their powers matured. It was so impressive. The Academy really was a good place.

Announcement

The sun dawns on the Friday of the second week of school, and as students return to the campus, the PA announces, "Will the following students please report to the Martian Matrix room? (All RPers)"

Her room had been altered. PA announcements were now able to be broadcasted to her room. Speakers and a TV were now available in her room. The sound were perceived differently since the room she was in still absorbed sound, but they made it an effort to make sure the volume was low enough to be heard, and not too loud that Sue unintentionally caused another sonic boom.

She looked herself in the mirror, her body coming back to its form from her dancing days. Her body was slimmer, her muscles more refined. She lifted her shirt to reveal a good set of toned abs. Her breasts still were plump for what it’s worth. Total sex appeal, she thought, teasing herself. She struck a pose and left for the room.

Martian Manhunter

The large metal door leading to the Martian Matrix room opened slowly, revealing the imposing form of J'onn J'onzz. Come in, children." he tells them all mentally. J'onn stands aside, giving the students a chance to walk into the room. Inside the large, well lit room are rows upon rows of comfortable recliners with metal shelves attached to the sides. On these shelves are hat-looking objects with wires sticking out of them, and running into the floors. J'onn watches as the students walk into the room and says, 'Don't be shy, take a seat. We'll begin shortly."

Sue arrived to see a room with an open door, Martian Manhunter gesturing her to enter.

And almost immediately she ran up to Phoebe and hugged her from behind.

She waved to the two other girls, Kijani and Katherin, and looked to the seat with the weird hat-looking things.

She immediately raised her hand to attract J’onn J’onzz, and by gesture, she pointed at her large headphones, and made a quizzical face on how she’d fit her headphones into the hat-looking thing.

She struck a smile at Anthony who smiled at her.

She flaunted her breasts at him, sticking her chest out and waving her hands around to highlight them. Then she ended it with a quick head jolt, indicating aggression, with a silly, grimaced face.

Pheobe laughed, turning around and returning Sues hug, "hi!" She managed to sign. She had been practicing, hoping to make it easier for her friend. She shifted to sit beside her, smiling.

She watched, amused as Sue seemed to flaunt herself at Anthony.

(From now on, I'm referring to the Martian Manhunter as MM)

MM speaks to Sue telepathically, "Take them off, the headgear will cause your brain to ignore all outside sounds, sights, and smells."

From the front of the room, MM broadens his telepathy to everyone in the room, "If you haven't taken a seat, do so now. Before we begin, I'm going to explain how this class works. The headgear you see next to your seats serves to connect all of your minds, and cause you to experience a shared dream of sorts. During the simulation, you will be forced to forget that what you are experiencing isn't real. As far as you'll know, every decision you make will be life or death, and the consequences, permanent. You will retain all powers, skills, and equipment you currently have in the real world. During each simulation, you will face AT LEAST one dangerous situation. Some of these dangers may even be unseen, so keep your guard up. Also, unlike your other classes, every simulation you face will test you immensely. There will never be an easy day in this class. Today, you get a special treat. During the simulation, you'll get to fight with one of the Avengers! Now please, relax and put on your headgear. The simulation will start once I flip a switch located under the classroom."

Phoebe was always up for a challenge. This however was something she had never come across. She frowned studying the hat a bit more, then shrugged and put it on, leaning back in her chair.

"It will be okay" Connor said to Austin again, leaning back into his chair, putting the hat on, this would be an interesting experience.

Katherin waved to Sue. She wished she had taken the time to check out a book on sign language, but she had been so preoccupied she had put the need on the back shelve. Katherin wanted to share her costume design with Sue as she had Phoebe. Because she almost as close to Sue as she did Phoebe. With that thought in mind Katherin took out her phone to look for a sign language app while the other students filed in.

Sue

And so Sue followed. She took off her headphones, and placed them on her lap as she sat down. She held Phoebe's hand for a brief moment then let go. She too flaunted her chest to Phoebe. She liked to do that when she was excited for her performances. One of her many idiosyncrasies. Then, she placed the hat onto her head. Cold to the touch, but warming the next, it fit her head perfectly, her red hair flowing against the side, held down by the headgear's weight.

Austin nodded once more and grabbed the hat, forcing it onto his head. It felt strange on top of his fur. He closed his eyes, breathing in deeply though his nose. He crossed his arms over his chest, slowly relaxing and readying his body for action.

Katherin was hesitant to put the weird looking hat. The experience the teacher described terrified her. She didn't want to fight an Avenger! But at least in the dream state described she wouldn't hurt anyone. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves Katherin put on the hat.

Anthony raises a single eyebrow as Sue flaunts herself at first him, then Phoebe. "Like I said, interesting.... Although it was quite enjoyable." Following his teacher's instructions, Anthony puts on the contraption, closes his eyes, and waits for the simulation to begin.

Ben sighs and whispers, "So it's nothing like a video game. That's a shame." He puts on the hat and continues mentally, "Heh heh. I'm a poet but I didn't know it. I can drop a rhyme any ti-"

Just then MM flips the switch, and for a moment, everyone is blind, deaf, mute, unfeeling, and unable to smell. Then, in a flash their senses return and they find themselves in the middle of a crowded New York City, New York. All around them, businessmen, tourists, shoppers, crooks, and cops go about their days, sparing only momentary glances at the diverse group of young people appear out of nowhere. On a large TV screen in the distance, a news anchor can barely be heard over the hubbub, "Yet again, one of the so called Avengers is wreaking havoc in our fair city. Our sources confirm that the Incredible Hulk is on rampage and is heading through the heart of the Big Apple. With the rest of the Avengers trying to stem a flood of subterranean invaders, who will stop the Green Giant?"

Phoebe chuckled, like she had said Sue was very...empathic in her actions. It made for interesting, and entertaining conversations with her. Phoebe thought Sue was absolutely gorgeous, and already considered her a more like a sister, for the simple fact that she didn't have any siblings and thought if she had had a sister, she'd want her to be exactly like Sue. Easy to get along with.

She settled back, prepared.

Phoebe looked about, trying to figure out exactly where she was. New York. Okay. The hulk. Bruce Banner. She looked about for the rest of her classmates figuring this would be better as a team.

Connor grimaced as all his sense seemed
To turn off, then he found himself in New York. The hulk on a rampage and aliens.
Wonderful.

Connor didn't hesitate. If they were going to be fighting the hulk, he wanted his suit. He got it out, letting it unfold, ready, stepping into it.

"Ignot? Everything running okay?" His own voice sounding echoy. His suit was blue and silver, and he had coming up with an alias, finally. Stainless steel.

Ignot was his own computer operating system.

"Online, Connor"

He grinned, flexing his hands in the metal gloves.

"Excellent"

He glanced about,

"So, we have to deal with the hulk"
