Khandaqi Lore:
Khandaq is a middle-eastern country located on the continent of Africa between Egypt and Jordan, and culturally is similar to Egypt
Its capital is a city called Shiruta, after Black Adam's Sister in this continuity.
The city is ruled by a dictator who lives in wealth while the people suffer. His name is Asim Muhunnad, but he goes by the pseudonym Ibac after Khandaq's greatest oppressor in the days of ancient Egypt.
Dialogue wise, the speech is very formal, and tense. They tend to draw out their words to attain the same meaning.
Two gangs carve the city into their playground, bribing the already corrupt police to look the other way. Their names are:
Snake pits: the druggies of the lot, they make a compound out of Cobra venom. They are led by Azim Al-Owal.
A terrorist organization called the Ghosts of Khandaq attacks the capital and regularly murders civilians.
The Khandaqi Secret Police kidnaps, tortures, and murders anyone that speaks against Azul. They often operate in broad daylight.
ON BLACK ADAM: while my chosen roster pic shows his new 52 outfit, I do not like the belt, and prefer to use his pre-new 52 belt, as well as ditching the cape and hood. Basically it is this belt but with the new 52 suit and no cape/hood
Background and Story So Far:
Black Adam was born Teth-Adam in the height of Ancient Egypt. He was the son of a farmer, and worked the fields along with his nephew, a boy named Aman born not long after Adam himself.
Growing up, Adam was protective of Aman, and often got into fights defending Aman from bullies. Adam especially hated the wealthy kids, for when he beat them in fist fights, he was whipped, either publically by the soldiers or privately by his father. But nonetheless, he continued to defend his nephew, displaying intense courage and fierce loyalty. These traits were well known of Adam, and they attracted the attention of a wizard.
The wizard's name was Shazam.
Adam still remembers that day with acute clarity. It had began as usual. He, now a man of 30 years, woke Aman, who was 27, and the pair went to the market. By then Teth-Adam's sister, Aman's mother, had died and the boy's father was at war. So it was left to Adam to care for Aman, who at the time was recovering from a broken leg.
At the market, the usual shopping was done, buying only goods that would last them until the month's end. But then a day that had began so normally ended in tragedy. Aman witnessed a murder, and limped away while the murderer chased him, managing to stab him in the gut. Aman reached Teth-Adam's house, but lay dying in his arms while the murderer beat at the door, trying to break it in. A look from above revealed that the murderer was a city official, one high on the command structure. It was then that Adam turned to Aman, trying to do what he could to save him. It was useless; the boy died in his arms. It was then that Shazam came to him, telling Teth-Adam that he could right the wrongs of the city, avenge his poor nephew. He told Adam that he was chosen to become the next champion. Teth-Adam accepted. The lightning bolt which transforms him shot down from the sky as he spoke the wizard's name.
For five years he served everything the Wizard fought for: justice, peace, equality. But the rage within him would not quiet. As surely as power corrupts a king, so did the wizard's gift corrupt Adam. He began to carve Khandaq into his own personal nation. Shazam watched in horror from the Rock of Eternity as his former champion became a brutal warlord. Angry, the wizard tried to remove the gift of power from Teth-Adam, but in vain. Shazam learned that he could not rescind the gift of power once it has been given, a fact he would later take into consideration with Carol Danvers. Despaired as he was, the wizard tricked Adam, summoning him to the Rock of Eternity. Teth-Adam complied, but Shazam told him that his heart had grown black. Thus his name became Black Adam.
Shazam then confined him in his prison, where he remained in rage until he was freed by Doctor Sivana. Now a sworn enemy of the Wizard Shazam, Black Adam burst into a rage and nearly decimated the museum he now found himself in. Then he found that the wizard had chosen a new champion, and a woman. He had underestimated her at first, but later fled.
Then he made his way to Khandaq, where the corpse of his homeland lies. The sight of it crushed him into a depression. Since his arrival in Khandaq he has not summoned the Dread Lightning, wallowing in despair as Teth-Adam.
Sample Post (At least 3 well thought out paragraphs as well as some dialogue):
Khandaq. Once a bright empire of ancient days, it now lies in ruins, save what little cities remain alive. At its capital is a barely thriving city, crushing under the yoke of its oppressive dictatorship, and barely living under a persistent crime rate. It is here that Teth-Adam walks, thinking, planning.
The world has changed much since the days of my rule. That which was once familiar is now a ruin, the people I once knew have turned to dust. Yet I have not aged one day, one minute, one second. I still look thirty years old, still feel my youth. Something must be done to restore my homeland, but what? It is not as if I could storm the residence of the dictator, and stage a coup d'état. It would merely replace one dictator for another and that cannot stand. If I have learned one thing in my imprisonment, it is that I had become what I hate most: a tyrant. My homeland calls to me, but I cannot let the Wizard's insult go unanswered. I shall have to deal with the new champion later. However, Khandaq is more important. He walks, deep in thought, around a corner, bumping into a young man dressed rather garishly. He was a gangbanger, a member of one of one of several gangs plaguing the city. The young man turns, swearing loudly. He draws a gun, pointing it at Adam's face. When he speaks, it is with an exaggeration, playing at being a man.
"Do you wish an early death? I'm a dangerous man. I have rotted in prison with the Ghosts of Khandaq. Who are you?"
Adam breaks his inner thoughts and casts an eye at the hoodlum, unimpressed by the Kefiyyeh, the tattoos adorning his body. The comment on the terrorists attacking Khandaq intrigued him. An inkling of a plan formed in his head, and he spoke.
"
Who am I? I am a man who has conquered Khandaq's enemies in centuries past. I have leveled battlefields. And you think you can scare me with a gun? I can summon lightning from the sky with a word." As he said this, the thug laughed.
"Fool. Only God may do so. Clearly you are not a god."
"
Oh? Then let me demonstrate." Adam turned his eyes heavenward. "
SHAZAM!"
The Dread Lightning filled the sky, arcing down to Teth-Adam. In his place stood Black Adam.
