The OOC for Supernatural Task Force

Plot: Murder with a side of hell, served up on a silver platter.

Background: The city has a supernatural task force, which is basically freelance, except when the city's police deem their cases are more than meets the eye and delves into the realm of the supernatural. The task force was started by Max Avendir (my character for the RP). All the members of the task force have "powers", if you will. They are able to detect and see the supernatural, as well as use dark magic of witchcraft and wizardry. Most of the cases of the task force deal with missing person stolen items and the occasional murder.

The city is New Horn city. Similar to NYC. Task force is S.I.N. Supernatural Investigative Network. The task force usually deals with both combating monsters by use of their weapons, powers and magic use and non combative tasks. There are swords and guns and silver bullets and magic. Nothing militaristic.

Name: Max Avendir

Personality: He's a bit set in his ways, sort of cocky and has a dark sense of humor

Bio: Leader of the task force, discovered his "power" when he was 18. He lived with his mother, as his father had left when he was only 2. One night he came home to find his mother killed and her body left on the floor with her eyes still open. Max closed his mothers eyes and prayed for her safe to heaven, but as he closed her eyes he saw the ones who killed her and he freaked out, started crying, fell over and leaned on his mother's body and saw the image of the killers again. It was at this point that he realized this must be something he could do and deemed to find the killers and avenge his mothers death. When he was 20 he met a guy who told him that he should use the gift to help people, but when he started his own freelance detective agency, he encountered all the supernatural occurrences and shortly after the task force was formed.

Claes is a nice guy, really. He is quite willing to bleed for any cuse he sees as worthy and will devote himself to solving any problem he is asked to help with. Given this, he is also prone to profanity, typically in his native language.

Bio:
Once a police detective in Sweden, Claes was stabbed during an armed robbery and ended up in the hospital. After a successful escape and liberation of his clothing, he found her was able to pinpoint the location of the thief using his blood still on the attackers clothing. He led his partner to the location and let his colleagues take the credit.

Realizing after a time that his gift would be nearly wasted in such a low crime area, her left his homeland for the US with the intent to see how he could apply it to a higher crime area.

Other:
Claes has the ability to know where any reasonably fresh (it must have living cells) piece of his body is. He can sense the direction and distance of any reasonable amount bit of spilled blood is. A larger amount, enough to require heavy duty dry cleaning, upholstery replacement, or provide a decent snack for a vampire can also enable him to transport himself instantly to it's location with the catch that he typically leaves an amount of blood behind.

Name: Khem Kendrick

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Weapons: A silver-inlaid knife kept on her chest and a 9mm Glock 17 with 1 magazine of silver bullets and 3 normal magazines. Kept in a holster at her hip. Each clip holds 17 rounds.

Appearance:

Khem is athletic, about 5’5”. Her hands are heavily calloused with use, and her arms and fingers bear a great crisscrossing of burn scars. She dresses very plainly off-duty, in t-shirts and jeans, usually, but on-duty she wears a bulletproof vest, black fatigues tucked into combat boots, and a purple bandana to keep stray strands of hair out of her face. When she is working her day job she wears overalls and a toolbelt.

Personality: Khem is a very attention-seeking, robust person with mannerisms to easily match. Where others may shrink back out of caution or social expectations, Khem will shamelessly launch forward and act as she, and she alone, sees fit. To say she is without much tact is to say that whales are a little big. While her heart is usually in the right place, she is easily agitated and driven to outright rudeness or cruelty against those she personally believes deserves it. Since childhood, she has been taught to kill or drive away monsters, leading to a skewed view of the other world beneath her own. While she does not outright hate supernatural creatures, she gravely distrusts them, varying by species and situation.

Bio: Khem was born to two police officer parents and an older brother by the name of Sunan. Khem grew up enveloped in the law enforcement world, from a very young age encouraged to always fight for what was right. Unfortunately for her parents, she translated their motto into something a little more literal. From third grade to ninth, Khem’s record lit up with detentions, referrals and expulsions, nearly all infractions involving violent encounters with schoolyard bullies. Finally, when high school rolled around, Khem’s family had had enough. Her parents, hoping to redirect her violent energy, allowed her access into the world they had kept hidden from both their children: that of the supernatural. Sunan, frightened, opted out and continued through school into the New Horn police academy to follow in the family footsteps. Khem, meanwhile, threw herself aggressively into the realm of nightcrawlers, magic and beasts. By the time she was a sophomore she went on regular outings with her parents, learning their ways as they hunted down vampires, exorcised ghosts and practiced magic.

While Khem would have gladly abandoned the prospect of college to instead fund the weapons and equipment she would need to fight off monsters, her parents wisely reminded her that killing demons would not pay her bills. Begrudgingly, she managed to earn her necessary licenses over a handful of years, becoming a self-employed electrician working odd jobs for businesses and homeowners alike. Her loose schedule left her with plenty of time to make a bigger name for herself in the community, and it was not long before she was called on by the Supernatural Investigative Network.

Other: Khem, in a mix of genetics and intensive training, possesses an acute aptitude for electrokinesis. She most often employs her abilities as a stunner in close-combat or as a way to shut down the power to almost anything that uses electricity, as actively shooting lightning from her hands results in burns and even severe injury as the lightning arcs back onto her.

Name: Aela Shurelya aka "One handed Surgeon"

This is the lab coat hoodie she always wear, it is designed specifically and customize based on her own design. There are two big pockets at the bottom half of the coat and a lot of mini pockets inside her coat. Her coat is unbuttoned disregard the picture, I can't find the right one.

Personality: Aela is a very caring person, like a nurse. She will take care of the wounded regardless their race and gender, unless it is STF's enemy. Aela wanted to be friendly but the truth is Aela is a little bit shy as a girl. Aela prefer office work when compared to on-field work as she is more of a passive girl. Aela usually sings when she is on duty to cheer herself up and to keep up her efficiency at work. Aela becomes fearless when it comes to saving or protect her friends, she will stop at nothing to protect those she really cared. Lastly, Aela always have a lollipop in her mouth, she has a sweet tooth.

Bio: Aela was born from a doctor (mother) and a writer (father). Aela was bought up with their parents challenging themselves that who would be the one to influence their daughter the most. Aela doesn't really mind that her parents keep pounding something that Aela have no interested on, Aela was just happy to see their parents laughing and stuff. As regarding her ability, it was when she just graduated high school which at that time, she was 15. She can easily score ace in her test thanks to her parent's guidance. One day, her family was called to the hospital because Aela's grandfather fell down the stairs and have gotten a coma. Her grandfather was very kind and friendly to Aela and she was crying while holding his hand. At that moment, her grandfather's pulse went null instantly. Aela's parent saw this and immediately her mother immediate checked for his pulse to make sure. When her mother went and shove Aela away from her grandfather for examination, Aela's grandfather's pulse went back to normal, it is as if Aela grandfather was dead for a second there. Later on, when Aela once touched her grandfather's hand once more praying that her grandfather will be well soon, his pulse went null again. Her mother, after observing the situation, she told Aela to keep physical contact with her grandfather while she check on him. To her surprised, on his organ was momentarily stopped as Aela made physical contact with him, which gave Aela's mother an idea. Aela immediately got signed up for surgery course for her university degree by her mother's request. Aela did not complain, she just thought maybe it is for her own good and just went along with the plan. After one year of study, Aela's mother called her to her lab and her mother showed her a live mouse. Her mother called Aela to cut open its belly and replace her kidneys without any injection. Aela was confused and objected as it will instantly kill the rat without proper procedure.

"Trust me, just put your right hand on the mouse and cut it open." was all she said. Aela never once betrayed by her mother, trusted her mother and cut the mouse belly open. To her surprise, the mouse stopped breathing and the blood flow stopped as well, as if time has stopped. Aela replaced the kidney as told, sew the wound and released the mouse out of her touch. The mouse then woke up and walked around as if nothing has happened. Aela was terrified and shocked at the same time, she does not know what it means but, her mother have an idea what is happening. Throughout the years, her mother have guided her on how to use her power efficiently to save lives. When she turned 22, her mother then gave her a piece of paper and told her she is ready for this. Aela looked at the tattered paper and read it, it says, "Supernatural Task Force XXX-XXXXXXXX". Aela wanted to ask her mother what is this all about but decided to find it out herself. She have reached the headquarter entrance, or she was called to assemble there, at least.

Other: Aela will be the medic team of Supernatural Task Force, she can be a surgeon or a doctor or a fighter whenever when help is in need. Her ability is to manipulate time however, her power is far more different compared to time manipulation powers in fantasies, her power are more limited (for RP purpose). These are a few of the many ability that she could use specifically:

Abilities

Reverse - This is Aela's passive ability power, it allows her to reverse her body state indefinitely and therefore able to heal wound, stay young and remove debris from her body and what not.

Forward - When in physical contact to a person, she is able to speed up the functions in that person's body and thus, allowing something like "rapid regeneration" for that particular person. However, it will shorten the life of that person as it overworked the cell's capabilities to work.

Stop - When in physical contact to a person, the person will not be able to react as if time itself has stopped. However, this effect only affect the one that has physical contact with Aela. Aela usually use this to perform perfect surgery. Besides that, this abilities is able to stop the state of an object and causing it to be indestructible as long physical contact is available.

Name: Thomas Macker
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Weapons: Does high intelligence count as a weapon? Because if not, just a glock.

Thomas is 6 foot 1 inch, with a slightly athletic build, and brown hair, with a short beard. He generally wears a suit, black, with the collar undone, or with a bow tie, but more commonly the former. He wears silver cuff links with the initials TM on them. He always will be wearing a pair of sunglasses, and if he needs to touch other people, will wear black leather gloves.

Personality: Thomas tries his hardest to get what he wants. He will fight for a cause he deems worthy, even if it goes against the norm. Due to his high intelligence, Thomas will often think that he is better than everybody else. This can sometimes get him into fights. Due to his powers, he tries not to let himself get into any romantic relationships, but this can fail.

Bio: Thomas' powers did not develop until he was around 16, growing up in the outskirts of London. Usually seeing it more a curse than a blessing, he began to lose contact with his friends, figuratively, and literally. Firstly, Thomas has high intelligence, which he has had since with a very young age. His first "supernatural" power, is that he sees the thoughts of anyone that he looks into the eyes of. Due to this, he wears sunglasses to stop it. His other power, is that anyone he touches becomes 'mentally linked' with him, until he lets go. This means that he can delve deeper into their minds, however, they have the opportunity to look into his, but they hardly ever do, they usually do not know what is happen, and some don't even realise. When his powers started developing, he began to become more introverted, not wanting to scare people by knowing their thoughts. When he was 21, he had a girlfriend, but fell, and touched her, and learnt about another relationship behind his back. She swore it was a one night stand, but Thomas didn't know if he could trust her or not, and hasn't had a romantic relationship since. At 24, he helped solve a murder case when his sunglasses fell off, and he looked into the eyes of the unknown murderer by accident. He then decided to move to the US, to New Horn City, where he could help people with his powers, and finally find a good use for them.

Name: Ren Alaric Pentlocke
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Weapons: He mainly relies on his agility, abilities and hand-to-hand combat skills when they are a viable option, but he has become a sure-shot with his handguns, which are engraved with symbols that enhance the power of the bullets.

Appearance: Standing around five feet, nine inches, Ren is slim but fit, with lithe muscles that are toned rather than built. Handsome but not unusually so, his sharp, straight nose, angular jaw and arched brows typically do not make him stick out in a crowd. What does is his skin, which is a true Nordic white- pale and porcelain-like, with a blueish tint where his veins are close to the surface. In cold light and especially in winter, his flesh appears to be nearly translucent. His hair, ebony-black in color, falls in slight, messy waves to just above his shoulder-blades. Combined with his almost unnatural pallor and stormy grey eyes, he quite resembles the spirits he is tied to. His only truly distinguishing marks are a pair of Latin script tattoos on the insides of his wrists. The left reads “Within all day there is night” and the right, “Within all darkness there is light”.

Personality: Easy-going, mischievous, flirtatious and charismatic, Ren hardly has had trouble getting his way in life. However, he is still a fairly grounded and rather level-headed young man, not letting his persuasive charms become arrogance or vindictiveness- most of the time, anyway. His sarcasm and dark sense of humor have often gotten him trouble, but his street wit has almost always provided a way out. He is typically unafraid, or at least, he does not show he is afraid, preferring to take a situation head on and face it than run.

Bio: The Pentlocke name is fairly well known to both believers and skeptics of the supernatural. Ren’s parents are ghost/ cryptid hunters and authors on the “unknown”, and are regarded to by some as the best when it comes to information on the things that go bump in the night. Conversely, they are also known as the biggest fakes in the so-called preternatural science field and lunatics. Since he was born, Ren has been surrounded with talk of ghosts, monsters and otherworldly creatures; as an adult, he started to work for his parents as a field agent, collecting data from haunted sites. Now he has been scooped up by S.I.N, who put his talents to use for the greater good. This work is both helped and hindered by his gifts, which he inherited from his grandfather Hadrian, whom he is very close to.

Other:
-Ren has a close tie to the spirits of the dead as well as those from other planes. He not only has potent ESP, but can contact and possibly control the spirits of the dead, along with some other spectral creatures. He can summon them, make them tangible for short periods, banish them from a person/place, bind them to a person/place and even destroy/exorcise low-leveled ones. The older and more powerful the spirit, the less sway he has over them, if any.
-Ren has practiced freerunning/parkour for at least ten years and due to this he is quite strong, fast and agile, capable of getting to places many other people cannot.
-He has basic medical training, along with basic survival training.
-He is an audiophile, meaning he is basically addicted to music. He always has an MP3 player or iPod on him, and keeps music playing practically everywhere he goes.

Hey, anyone want to set up some relationships? I imagine every member of SIN has been on for at least a few months, enough to work up some ties.

As far as Khem goes: I imagine she would be good friends with Ren, or at least look up to him, for his dark sense of humor and natural charm. With Thomas, she would probably distrust him and not feel particularly comfortable with him for his powers, though she can respect his determination. Aela she may rashly deem as overly shy, but would appreciate the effort she puts into being a nigh invaluable member of the team (though probably never say so much to Aela's face). She might underestimate Claes' powers as "cool tricks" but feel decently comfortable around him for his general politeness (but see him as a bit of a pushover for so willingly helping his teammates, with or without reward). Seeing as she's had very little authority in her monster-fighting career up until joining SIN she might make the unfair judgement that Max is the distant, stubborn leader that she should avoid unless necessary.

So yeah, my character's a bit of a jerk. :V This is purely her own interpretations and the way she thinks of her teammates, you guys could formulate your own ideas and we can see where that goes!

I have not been accepted yet, but should I be, I can see Ren and Khem getting along quite well. He would admire her headstrong, "tell it like it is" personality, though I also can see him riling her up for fun. Tomas... he probably would not get along with too well, as Ren dislikes people who act like they are better than others. Sweet, shy, passive Alea would be flirted with/teased to no end. Niklas he would have no real issues with, though he might be a bit dry and cynical about Niklas' willingness to sacrifice himself. Last but not least, Max would also be seen as a good ally, so long as the ways he is stuck in does not end up meshing poorly with Ren's methods. If they do... well, Ren might end up being the one to break the rules and go AWOL now and then.
