Bay stares up at the dark, haunted looking manor house, confliction crossing his mind. He glances down at the letter in his hand and looks at the thickset ring with the garnet inset on his finger. It even has his graduation year engraved into the sides. He shifts the backpack on his shoulder and slams the door to his truck shut. He begins to walk up to the manor, the letter that brought him here still burning in his mind.
Dear Bay Parsons,
You don’t know who I am, but I know who you are. I know a lot about you in fact. I know that you were born on the first of January and I know that you were born with a gift. Telepathy, right? That is a large gift to bear, but I see how well you carry it.
I am warning you now that you are not the only one coming to this house. You will meet eleven other powerful individuals, some of which you may know. I want you to control yourself and help them, as they will help you.
You may be wondering if I am crazy. I’m not. I figured out the pattern to the gemstones long ago. You were chosen for this, Bay. Before you were even born. You are here to… Well, you will learn that in due time, as you will learn my identity in due time. Please, go to the manor house address in this envelope and take the ring with your gemstone. Please. All will be revealed soon
R.K.
Bay looks back up at the house, but now he is directly in front of it. He knocks on the door, but as he knocks, the door slowly opens, revealing an empty, dirty hallway. He looks around and calls out a greeting. No one responds. He takes a deep breath and walks inside. He walks down the hallway slowly and looks left and right. Suddenly, he sees a note on a door. He walks over to it.
Go inside and wait for the others
Bay takes a deep breath and does what he is told.
Genevieve looks down the road to the large manor house. She looks back over her shoulder to see if any other cars are coming. There aren’t any. She begins a slow jog toward the house, her necklace bouncing against her chest. She enters the driveway within five minutes and immediately recognizes the truck in the driveway. She groans. Bay had left without a word to her a few days ago, and now he’s here?! What is going on? She had gotten a strange letter telling her to come here with a sapphire gem necklace in it, the same one she wears around her neck, but why didn’t it tell her that Bay was going to be here as well? She sighs and walks up to the front of the house slowly. She examines the truck closely. Yeah, that's Bay's car alright. She sighs again and walks up to the door of the house.
Well, might as well get this over with. she thinks and knocks on the front of the door. It opens slowly, without anyone helping it, and she peers inside. She walks down the hallway, making sure to shut the door behind her, and examines the doors. She gets to a door with a note on it. She reads the note and then walks inside. Inside, she sees Bay sitting on a couch. He looks up and his face goes pale when he sees her.
Well this is perfect she thinks and sits down, not saying a word to Bay.
