French Foreign Legionnaires, present day.

TL;DR Summary:
- Science Fiction Setting
- It starts out with modern technology and moves into more alien tech.
- Characters are mercenaries that signed onto a newly-formed PMC called Centurion Strategic Services; the client is assumed to be a foreign entity.
- Client is actually an alien species that needs someone who can fight the wars for them.
- Characters are various types of ground combat types, infantry, armor crew, commo, artillery, engineers and so forth.
- We're in Casual, and I'm cool with a paragraph, but I find formatting, grammar/spellcheck important. This includes paying attention to capitalization, spaces between paragraphs and basic formatting for readability. I am not a douche, I make typos like anyone else, but I do make an effort and I want everyone else to do the same.
- In the interests of moving the story along, we need to agree to not get overly technical on the military aspect, particularly as the technology and tactics will change appreciably as the storyline progresses.
- Please post character sheets in the Sheets Thread

Hello HeySeuss! This looks familiar. SFC Brian Park is back for more. I promise a tree won't break a rib after falling on top of him this time.

If anyone has any questions about military related details, please ask.

I didn't keep my character. I had to rewrite, which lets me differ a bit in the skillset and come up with someone that has naval special warfare experience, as you might never know when those skillsets may come into play in alien environs.

Folks, I now have a backup of this RP sitting on google drive, so please PM me your e-mails so I can add you. That way, if the Guild goes unstable, we can keep the RP running. Thanks. ;)

Also going to point out that female characters are very much allowed, though I request that you at least do a little legwork and find out which militaries/formations in those militaries, allow females to serve as combat soldiers and so forth, if your character is going to have any combat experience. For example, the New Zealand allows women in all roles, including their SAS, the Israeli Caracal Battalion is sex-integrated and the Swedish military is entirely integrated. Do research, basically.

Yeah, Algeria is a moderately progressive Muslim state. To put things bluntly the red cross has taken issue with women's rights over there.
-And although there aren't women in the combat-role of their military, they have a hyper-competent police-force since they just finished-up a massive civil-war*, and have recently promoted several female generals in their army.

So not a whole lot worse than what is going-on in America or the Israeli militia when it comes to segregation. Although I'm sure some people would take offense to such a comparison.

It's going to need a lot more work to be accepted.

Well, for starters, my app isn't even half-done yet. And has been suggested to upgrade my character's wardrobe.
Granted, their equipment has improved in the past 33 years...

You'd think that things improve, equipment-wise.
-At least those are the ex-soviet chest-rigs, they have padded shoulder-straps.

Name:Alexander Fox
Age: 24
Gender: male
Ethnicity/Nationality: American mutt
Former Unit: spec ops first class
Role: Rifleman/other

Name, gender and ethnicity no big deal. Former unit, however, needs to be an existing unit - 'spec ops first class' is not something that exists like "2/75 Rangers" or "GRU Spetsnaz" or "Special Air Service." Not only that, no branch of service or idea if he worked for a PMC like Blackwater or what. Big blank.

Rifleman, fine. But what about skillsets?

Physical Description:
Alexander looks a bit nuts. He has sky blue eyes and dirty blond hair, while his skin is an anonymous cacasion and extremely pale. He wears an old leather flight jacket, which has his own modern medlals on it.

I think it's scanty and needs to give a better idea of the man's height and weight, how he's built and any identifying scars.

Skillset:

-spec ops grade rifleman
-above grade martial artists
-above average hacker
-average knifeman
-average shot with sidearm

Nothing about what actual military training he's had. Schools attended or experience. This also is very scanty.

History:
Alexander was a fairly good black hat hacker when he was 16 and he made a fair amount of untraisable money, but eventually they caught him. But when they caught him he wasn't going after corporate assets, he was shutting down the bigst enemy of the US's military infrastructure. He was given the option of joining the military in return for anaminoty, they say how talented he was. So he fired his documentation and joined up where he trained as a normal soldier while still 'helping' American assets. After years of training he was able to get into the spec ops on normal merit. He was with them for years before he retired, it when he learned about this opportunity he knew his special skills could get him in, for a good amount of legitimate cash.

This doesn't even cover what he did while in the service or anything of that nature. No branch of service. Beyond that, it's somewhat hard to comprehend. I'm not sure how to even read "he fired his documentation."

And, of course, there is no 'spec ops' in the US military. There's USSOCOM (UNited States Special Operations Command) and JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) but they are headquarters units that host a variety of other units under their umbrella. So this needs a lot more work, and a better idea of where he came from within the US military -- you haven't even figured out what branch he joined.

Psychological Profile:
Alexander exhibits signs of assbergers, he is unsocialble and will not be able to form bonds with the others quickly. His tendency towards deviant behavior may become a problem, but he is brilliant an d is vary adaptable.

Asperger's. Something that disqualifies a person from military service, and probably out of Centurion as well. This also needs extra work -- it needs to explain what motivates him and makes him tick. Since you don't have any real history, such as parents and education, it's hard to make much from little.

Equipment: See the character guide and notes on equipment.

Equipment:
Head/Face: SPECTRA-helmet, with night vision attachment
Body/attire: leather wwii flight jacket over standerd black sec ops uniform
Pack/Load Bearing Equipment: PLCE in black modified with a pouch for a lapton, rplaceing half the food/water and the entrenching tool

-Belt: holds sidearm and combat.knife

-Primary Weapon -
-Sidearm - hi416 with auxilery iron sights, and the M26 MASS (Modular Accessory Shotgun System)
-Grenades - two frag grenades
-knife - standerd issue steel combat knife, in grey with a pres line painted on around the handle

Overall, you need to spell check what you write and make an actual effort. I wrote that in the rules because I am serious about it. Other people in the thread are also serious about it. The rule is there so that the rest of us aren't making a strong effort to spellcheck and grammar check and otherwise make sure we put forth our best effort while someone else is writing stuff that is badly spelled and hard to understand. This is what the Guild colloquially calls a 'high casual' roleplay. As the GM, my absolute minimum is that people have spellcheck and need to use it.

I'm not saying this to be rude, but to be honest. I'm not sure if this is an RP you want to join and I'm not sure we can accommodate you because I am worried about the quality of the writing involved and making sure that everyone at least satisfies some of the basic requirements. I'd rather have that stated outright than to have the awkward situation of letting you proceed further when I don't think you're going to hack it with this RP. I'd rather lose someone before the RP starts than have to go through this after the RP's already begun.

-Hey now.... I nearly got that waivered if it weren't for having the entire left side of my head smashed and pretty much non-useful.
(ultimately it was having greater than 60% hearing-loss that did me in, going blind in my dominant eye came later)

You'd be amazed what damage a cinder-block to the back of a five year old's skull can do. And they just keep truck'n.

Eh, if I can't play myself it doesn't really matter... I sadly don't have hacking skills, but I'll leave here and just find some mid casuals to go to. I can Wright a lot but I like quick responses. And I would think that people might get over promlems with asbergers... Allthogh that meens I'll never get drafted :p. I ment forged the documents, and I don't freaky know enough about military. I'll leave this after I get one last response, sence that's obviosly whatyou would like. I can, before you say anything, Wright an extencive history. But I've been weighting on my phone and I'm pissed. Night, I'll leave when you say so.

Just noticing we're starting in that 'lil country next to Suriname what with its half-hour timezone.

*sees clothing Stippend*

*contemplates "shopping" for tactical-clothes*

...

I'll give her a camelback and replace the lifchick with an surplus IIFS over an PASGT-vest, complete with M-1967 field-pack.

Gunther is now Co-GM'ing this, owing to a wealth of infantry experience I don't have. We'll be consulting, but I see no outstanding issues with the character sheet, and nice move putting in a Cuban. That's a very different military (and they have institutional experience from Angola and similar.)

Thank you very much. I was going to be putting in a Scotsman but I thought it was a bit of a cliche (Demolition Scotsman...TF2 much XD). Making a Cuban was tougher because the information on their armed forces isn't as rich as the British, Americans or Israelis. I found out about The Black Wasps by stumbling onto an article, they're not mentioned on the Wikipedia page.
