Gonna have to bullet point her bio cause literally I cannot write coherently for it sorry
Name: Kai Zhèng
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance: Short, slender, and pale, Kai looks much younger than she actually is. Standing at about 5'3" and weighing a mere 121 pounds (130 pounds with the added weight of her leg), her body is small, thin, and delicate looking. While she is young looking, Kai is far from unattractive, with a heart-shaped face, angular, dark eyes, and asymmetrical, colorful hair. Doll-like lips and a small nose give her a porcelain appearance, and gray-black orbs glare off in a dreamy sense during almost any situation, even conversations. Her hair, once probably straight and black, has been chopped awkwardly and semi-dyed red.
Her body is mostly flat all around and nearly rock hard from her intense training. Muscles line her arms and leg, and abs are present on her lower abdomen and stomach. Her hands and feet are surprisingly large for her small stature, and her legs make up a majority of her height. Her left leg is almost entire bionic, save for the remaining flesh just below of hip, and it is normally hidden behind long pants and skirts due to her dislike for its appearance. Kai generally dresses in cool colors, and enjoys feeling free and comfortable. Tank tops and sweats are a norm, as well as flowing scarves, tight suits, and anything else she finds appealing to the eyes. Her feet are almost protected by tabi, it's almost as if she doesn't own any other kind of shoe, and she often covers her head with hoods or her personalized gas-mask. Kai holds a slight interest in makeup, and has quite a few tattoos, including ultraviolet red spider lilies, black and white koi, and quite a few circuit board designs.
Colored sketchUncolored SketchSome styles you may see her in. {X} {X} {X} Abilities:As silent as the night, yet with the force of a tiger, Kai uses stealth and flow in her martial arts. Her strikes are swift and thoughtless, gained from years of mindless training, and her body moves like water, flowing easily in circles as it draws her enemy closer to their demise. Kai is a non-bender, and as such must rely simply on her body to stay alive. She has mastered the use of the jōhyō, or rope dart, a weapon that relies on good eyes and precise hits. Kai has studied how benders move, and implements some of their styles into her own fights. The waterbender's fluid, defensive-offense helps to keep Kai ready for counters, the earthbender's rigid strength and tight stances help keep Kai grounded, the airbender's flexibility and light feet help Kai dodge and overwhelm, and finally the firebender's willpower and powerful strikes allow her to take down her enemy. Her eyes are her main weapon, allowing her to analyze and remember a fight style, as well as point out distinct weaknesses that an enemy might possess. Thanks to Master Shu, Kai is also a bit knowledgeable on using other weapons, like swords, knives, and bo staffs. Training under the Stormcrows gave her time to practice her aim as well, allowing her to be able to use smaller, more accurate guns with only slight trouble.
Other than her martial arts, Kai is a well-off mechanic/vehicle expert. Raised by a pair of geniuses, Kai experienced first hand the wonders of technology after the accident that took off her leg. Inspired by the bionics, she became very interested in computers and machines, and focused most of her mental power on building or repairing broken tech. She became interested in learning how to drive and pilot many vehicles during her teen years at home, and one of the maids actually allowed her to drive around town (with supervision of course). After escaping the house, she spent a few more years learning how to drive and repair technology, and due to those she is almost always looking for scrap metal to use in her repairs.
In times of dire need, Kai relies of the force of her bionic leg, which packs a pretty hefty punch. She is also generally agile and flexible, allowing her to rush in and out of danger on a whim. Due to an intense interest in weapons, Kai has also become interested in using her jōhyō as an art form. The tip of the heavy dart is full of LED lights, and it will glow intensely during fights or street performances, allowing for some interesting swirls of colors to appear in even the darkest of streets. Her skills with spirits are also above par that of a normally human. Her hobby of meditating has proven useful for when she is stressed, and in turn she has been unknowingly honing her spiritual abilities (unable to leave body, unable to go into spirit world. Can somewhat understand spirits).
Equipment and Bionics: Due to a childhood accident, Kai lost most of her left leg, rendering her incapable of walking. Due to their high status and easily obtained tech, her parents where easily able to ordera bionic limb for her. Months of therapy and training soon granted the young Kai the ability to walk again, and even more training allowed her to implementing the limb in her fighting style. Her duel stun batons are normally held on her back by a sling, and her personalized
jōhyō is almost always coiled at her side like a whip. She also sports a pistol, holstered on her right leg, and spare ammo. Other than that, Kai carries a small tablet, a hand-made computer jammer, and anything else she'll need in a brown rucksack.
Personality: With a soft voice and dreamy eyes, Kai could easily be considered a ditzy girl. She is naive, and, while sweet, can be surprisingly blunt and rude, especially if she is distracted by something. Her thoughtlessness towards others can be a result of her general over thinking, or perhaps the fact that she is almost always daydreaming. Kai is intelligent, proven by her knack for technology and intense interest in learning new things, but she is far more book smart than street smart. She is somewhat confused on how to interact with others, giving people the impression that she is shy or antisocial, while she is anything but. With a stoic, painted face, and a somewhat bad reputation, not many approach the small woman.
Kai can be assumed to be only happy when she is working or training. In the silence of a dojo or a garage, Kai feels at peace and cheerful, and thanks to this she is somewhat of a workaholic. Around friends or closer colleagues, Kai can crack a joke or two, though they can be kind of dry, and she will genuinely enjoy their company even if she doesn't seem to. She can be rather protective, though might not realize a friend is in danger until a little bit too late due to her ditzy nature. Kai is naturally attracted to good people, and feels a heavy need to defend those in need of defending. She enjoys it when other depend on her, though she herself is heavily independent. The only person Kai feels she can truly depend on and trust is Lee, her missing brother. In fact, he is one of the main reasons she joined the freedom fighters.
Being the daughter of workers for Future Industries, Kai feels as though she should hate herself, and finds that this self loathing makes her worthless as a rebel fighter. Years of mental abuse from her parents broke her confidence, and while she is slowly unlearning those problematic thoughts it would still be dangerous to allow Kai to see her parents again. The entirety of her life with them was spent in an mansion, spoiled rotten and taught nothing. She became independent early on, teaching herself everything she can from the large library and the few computers scattered among the glass palace. While she is hard to rile up, it is not impossible, and an angry Kai is someone to fear. Other emotions like depression or joy may not appear as easily on her face, but there are times when she truly does show them.
In a fight she is near emotionless, and her eyes are intense and focused. Kai relies on her speed and flexibility, as well as her quick gaze. In terms of mercy, she never really knows how to hold back, and must be told to stop if she looses herself in a fight. Kai always attempts to appear emotionless around the enemy, knowing that even a slight facial expression can change the way one thinks. While Kai can be somewhat ditzy and dreamy, she is far from a bad or stupid person, and will do anything to help someone in need.
Backstory: Kai is the daughter of Rei and Ko Zhèng. She is their second child, the first being Lee, who is four years older than her.The Zhèng family lives in a large estate in Republic City. The mansion is surrounded by a stone wall with a gate. The children are only allowed outside for school or with the supervision of a maid. They cannot leave without an adult.Rei, the father, is cold and cynical, as well as one of the head scientists at a Future Industries-run lab. Ko, the mother, is a secretary for a Future Industries office building, and she is very interested in technology. She is also always relying on her children to make her look better. Both parents ignore their children, too focused on their work to care for them.Lee is the rebellious child. He has found a way to escape the mansion walls and explore Republic City. Kai is much too scared to leave, and is very, very spoiled, which makes her believe that she owes her family something for that.Kai slowly draws into herself, becoming more stoic and independent as she grows. She eventually barely shares her emotions, and begins to rely only on Lee to convey her thoughts. On her seventh birthday, Ko and Rei are persuaded by a few maids to take Kai into town for a nice birthday dinner. On the way home, they get into a car crash and Kai's left leg is mutilated, and Rei's right arm is as well. They are forced to amputate, and Ko finds this as an excuse to test out some bionics.Six months of psychical therapy and training later, Kai and Rei are not able to use their new metal appendages effectively. A new way to craft bionics is discovered, and the parents are away more than usual.Kai (8) begins reading the entirety of the library at home, and delves into the art of computers. Lee (12) gets somewhat involved with the Stormcrows, and only tells Kai. Kai instructs Lee to find a master who could teach him martial arts as self defense. Lee heads out to find a master. Kai secretly wishes to learn as well, but doesn't let it show. Lee meets Master Shu, an older man who is a martial art and weapon-using prodigy. He offers to teach Lee, and Lee also suggest that his sister might like to learn as well. Shu accepts both of them. Lee tells Kai the news, and she sneaks out of the house for the first time.Kai spends the next five years training under Master Shu with Lee. She is a natural, and begins to feel the stress of her home life melt away as she trains. Ko and Rei do not notice anything.Kai (14) and Lee (18) are nearing the end of Shu's training. They are no where near masters, but they are well off enough to protect themselves. Shu ends their apprenticeships and before Kai leaves, he tells her of the dark rumors he has heard surrounding Future Industries. Disturbed, she returns home and does some research, and then approaches her father with a question: "Why has your lab been preforming inhumane experiments?" Rei reacts violently, but quickly calms and says they have done nothing of the sorts, and then mumbles something about being influenced by Lee. Kai is stunned, and scared.Lee vanishes a few days after leaving behind Shu. Kai attempts to go out to look for him but is stopped by Ko, who talks her down and back into the house, using vague threats and guilt tactics to keep her within the walls. Ko continues to mentally abuse Kai.Kai spends the next three years reading and rereading the books in the library and training her martial arts skills. She has not crept out of the house since Lee's disappearance. During her sixteenth year, she begins to receive strange letters everyday, and they manage to calm her as they confirm Lee is alive and well... And working with the Stormcrows. On her seventeenth birthday, the finale letter comes, and frantically explains Lee's capture by an unknown source thought to be Future Industries. The writer gives Kai an option to join the Stormcrows in an attempt to help find her brother as well as help the effort for freedom and she easily accepts. Unexpectedly, Ko returns home and catches Kai in the act of cutting her hair. Ko questions her daughter, using guilt and fear once more to control her, but Kai quickly backs away and declares that she doesn't owe her or Rei anything. Ko attempts to grab the girl but Kai easily evades and disarms her before running off to gather whatever money she can find and pack. Finally, she escapes through the window. Kai spends the next two years of her life as a wanderer, with her only haven being Master Shu's home. Not wanting to join the Stormcrows ill-prepared, she trains harshly, pushing her body and mind to the limit with constant movement. She studies benders for fighting inspiration, and used her personalized jōhyō to gain money on the street. Her mechanic skills are also trained, and she is now able to drive and repair cars, motorbikes, and boats.A few months before her twentieth birthday she joins the freedom fighters.
