"Adam, go back to camp and wait for Rusty," a mocking voice scoffed as footsteps moved back and forth in a linear motion in the familiar clearing that he had done so many test trials in, only to fail, time after time. He was a firm believer in the impossible, however, there was no way in hell he had powers. He was simply dumped on the island due to his "traitor-like" nature and that was the end of it.
Stopping and shoving his hands in his pockets, he exhaled a sharp breath of evening air. He hadn't noticed Rusty at first, the first thing was the smell. The smell of fresh food. "What are you eating?" He could hear the teenager munching happily behind him.
He had imagined the cavalier brown-haired boy smiling and spilling crumbs everywhere as he spoke, "Bread. Fresh baked, I stole it from a baker. Want some?" What kind of question was that? _Of course_, he wanted some. However, he wasn't about to respond in that manner and instead, crossed his hands and said, "Yes, please."
Rusty handed him a piece and it smelled so much better than the food that they were used to eating -- rabbit, deer and sometimes, dry leaves, bark or grass. Sometimes, the group would go days without eating, though Taylor was usually too much of a sadist to stop herself from killing innocent animals -- whether for recreational purposes or for food. Shoving the bread into his mouth happily, he turned to thank Rusty and found himself face-to-face with no other than --
"Rusty?!"
"Behind you!" Rusty called out, grabbing Adam by the shoulders and warping a few feet away from the Blade. "Dammit, that surprised me," Rusty said with a huff of air. He wished that he could move further away, though when traveling with another, his leygate usage was much more limited. "Where are the others?"
Though Adam was about to respond, they could see the glowing armor through the denseness of the forest, "Gaaah, run!" Was all Adam could say as he gave Rusty a push. Neither could fight, so all they could do was resort to flight. And so they did, running further into the forest in hopes of finding another Outcast who can help -- Milla, Taylor, Jude or not!
